A small tip but pause spamming would help you obtain the desire powerup needed (really vital for Single Segment runs).

Been really busy myself all this week with some work that I got to get up at 6am and usually get back home at 6-7pm. It's only temporary til the 23rd Dec but I'll get some nice cash (people in the UK would know how hard it is to find a job these days, especially in the South).

I do have a small question for players on here:

After clearing 5-1 has anyone managed to avoid the Walking P.Plant encounter when going to 5-2/5-3? An 100% on Segment 2 isn't going to be pretty otherwise.

Quits halfway

If you go back into 5-1 and die he moves and you'll be able to get by him. I'm not sure if that'd be ideal for a run where you probably want to keep the propeller suit the whole time.

No, I wasn't talking about those. I was talking about where 2 blocks are following a track in a circle. I'm pretty sure I'm thinking of the right level. Undecided

Edit: I got 1-5 and 1-6 mixed up. I'm talking about the block on 1-5 ( 1:08 in this vid) He get's it when he's small so it's a mushroom, but if you get it when you're big, it's a propellor mushroom. Then you can fly up and hit the block with a vine in it. I edited the route to make it correct, thanks for the tellin me. Also, thanks UCPro for posting my route on 1st page.

EDIT: I edited the route. Most of it is now done. I'm estimating about 10-11 segments are left (including world 9). I shortened the amount of levels per segment on the 2nd time through world 8 so it will be a little easier on the runner. I also found that on 6-mini castle, you can propellor spin right next to the giant spikes, but you have to be in perfect position, otherwise you will get hit. I'm telling you, you want to do 1-6 before 1-5. Get the propeller in 1-5, but keep the ice flower in 1-6. Having ice instead of propeller is a lot faster.

Ok at 1:00 AM (USA), I have officially finished the 100% route....kind of :P.

I have 2 possible routes. The first one involves using a mushroom house to get a penguin suit and a propellor shroom to use for later. The second route is quite different because it involves using a mushroom house to get only a penguin suit, and involves staying as mini mario for 3 and 1/2 levels.

Now, I believe that the 1st route is the better route. The only problem is that we still need to find out how much slower being mini mario in the 2nd route for those 3 and a half levels is. If it's not that much slower, than this route will be the optimal route. Otherwise, the first route will be faster. I'm not completely sure which will be faster, but I'm leaning toward the 1st route; however, the 2nd route will eliminate trying to get extremely lucky in the mushroom house, but that won't be too big of a problem since it is a segmented run.

Another thing you guys will have to help me decide on is if I should even get the penguin suit for 4-4. I think it will save quite a bit of time but I want to hear your guys' opinions too.

I will just post the route here again in this spoiler tag. Also, the first route involves 36 segments, while the 2nd route involves 35, go figure. Tongue

Route looks good, though on the second route it still says "use propeller shroom" even though you said you weren't going to get it. Did you forget to delete it when you copy-pasted?
I'll see if I can get the Mini-Mario levels tested some time soon.

Also, for 1-mini castle or 1-tower or whatever you call it, I have a time of 535 posted a page back.

I'm just throwing this out there because I think it would be awesome. Has anyone considered doing a 4 player (or > 1 player) coop speedrun of this game? I saw a 2 player Rescue Rangers coop run and it was one of the most impressive things I watched on this site.

It's been considered, but the second player (and third and fourth even more) would likely just get in the way. It would be very cool to see in a TAS if Wii TASing was developed though.

UCPro, do you think you can include the current fastest videos of each level in the 1st post so that it isn't necessary to dig through the topic (especially when it gets longer) to find a specific level?

That will also make it easier for people looking to make improvements to find the current strategies to help them on their way.

I got a 448 all star coins on 1-6, I had a small mistake at the end that cost me 449.
I'll try and record it later.

Edit: Scratch that, it'll be 450, maybe even 451 if I'm really lucky.

Sorry to double post, but here is 1-6:

And I realized now that the level starts with 400, not 500 Tongue

So the final time is 350. I don't think 351 is possible. I'm pretty proud of this level, I'm not gonna lie. I love the jump at 388.

You liked doing the route planning, and I like doing the level planning. If you don't end up doing the run I will take it. I like my Mario Party runs and the Bomberman Hero run badly needs an update, but I've definitely wanted to do something for a big name game.

Btw, I already came up with the route for 1-5 and I got a 440. It's just not recorded.

I've updated the first post with reference videos for the any% route, and updated the 100% route. I'll add reference videos for the 100% route later.

I haven't been able to play this game in a while, and won't probably get to it for another week. I'm starting to think that the current segment 4 should definitely be split into 2 segments with a quick save.

I don't think I'll be churning out level videos by the day either, partly because I haven't even beaten the game 100% yet, I've been more into speedrunning previous levels. Plus, if Mr. Piggy decides not to do the 100% run, I'm going to do it, and to add some suspense I'm not going to be uploading every level and instead keeping my routes to myself until an official publication.

At the moment I'm doubting that I'll do a 100% run, but if the category exists, I might end up doing an all exit run in a month or so when I get new/better cords & if I feel up to it.

I may slightly change your route, depending on the level routes and their difficulty. The order will likely stay the same, but I may pick up extra suits in the Mushroom house such as penguin suits for water levels. If this is the case, then I might get on this very soon. I won't post videos, but I will post progress and times.
