Nice Bowser Jr. Fight. Perhaps you could've spun 1 or 2 less times on the 2nd to last screw (the moving platform one) and use the propeller to get up to the ledge? Not sure If that would be faster or not though.
Melbourne, Australia
True that!
Why didn't I think of that  Undecided
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Was cool chrono that you didn't use the screws after the first pipe I didn't even think about that and it saves so much time!  I will be rooting for your runs Piggy and UC.  I'm curious about 8-7 because the differences in times will mainly come from getting from one skeleton boat thingy to the next I'm so slow at it but at least that level is so fun to play and is rather easy.  That might be the only level where getting all 3 coins won't be any slower than not getting any of the coins.  I noticed Bowser's first stage does go by pretty quick with using fireballs but having him jump might still be a little faster.  The beginning of the level may go faster by taking a hit or two but I haven't really fooled around there much.  Anyone try to devise a strategy for optimizing the second stage of Bowser?  I think having the propellor is the fastest way to go.
Melbourne, Australia
Yeh you can propellor straight over his head from a standing start to hit the switch. Definitely the fastest. Not sure if you can optimal double jump or not.

As for his second stage, the key is to keep jumping to try and keep those fireballs high.

Yeah you are right propellor definately is optimal for Bowser 1st stage.  I managed to get a time of 581 when hitting the switch.  Really the first half of the level is rather tame for a Bowsers lair. My second stage Bowser still needs a lot of work.
World 1-1 (all star coins) in 442 ... 443 should be possible.
^about that, I had 1 try and got 437 lol

I wanted to ask, has anyone tried to challenge the 1-Fortress Super Skill speedrun? I was able to enter the Boss door at the same time, but that was without taking all coins, not all Star Coins, and not the random 1UP... also I changed the strategy at the beginning because that wall jump madness is insane <_< I want to know the name of the guy who made that run Shocked

The name of that guy is called: Computer assisted human being.
Nice name Tongue
If they made the game, it would be much easier to use TAS for it since they only need the video and why would they attempt those time and time again if they can slow the action down

there's many possible improvements on the 1-fortress super skills run ... i'll have to try my hand at that sometime

I added to the route, now it's up to bowser. Segment 5 (world 8 ) is going to be hell for the 100% and the low% IMO.

Edit: lol when I put the 8 and the parentheses right next to each other it made the sunglasses smiley face. Now I have to put a space between them.

yes it is.  thankfully the most luck based level (8-1) is at the beginning of the segment.  I can see this segment taking a while to finish.

I played 8-1 quite a few times, & I don't think the boulders are necessarily random. I think they fall depending on how fast you're going. I always see the same boulders dropping in slightly different places but most that's because I went a little slow on one part or something like that. I think they always fall at the same time, but I think it just depends on where you are on the level on where the boulders drop.

Also, for 5-4....The boat will have to be taken won't it? It's not possible to get a bomb-omb all the way over to the last star coin is it?

well, the boulders aren't random, but there are about 5-7 different "falling patterns" that they have (and a little more than half of the patterns result in having to slow down a little at some part in order to not get hit).  I don't think speed has anything to do with it, because when i was practicing i was going the same speed throughout the first half of the level for every attempt ... but the patterns were different.

For 5-4, i haven't tried too much with finding a way to get a bob-omb for the last star coin without the use of the boat.  It may be possible ... at the very end, there is one spot where bob-ombs fall almost at the very end of the level.  There might be a way to get one of those, but i'm not sure.

EDIT: why are so many people watching my 8-1 run?? ... it has 1,100 views in less than 1 day ... LOL
DS Dictator
5-4 (100%) needs rhe boat since it's very near impossible to hit a Bob-omb in midair with a stomp.

UCPro your 8-1 run is impressive and pretty lucky ;).
i practiced 8-2 today and got a time of 413 ... i'll have a video of it in the next couple days.  Thankfully, it's a pretty easy level.
This just seemed like fun so I figured I'd jump in.

World 1-2 with all star coins in 437:
Edit history:

Quits halfway
Not sure if anyone's seen this, but here's a minimalist run (no powerups, but yoshi use is okay) that says will be done in under 30 minutes:

His routes incorporate a lot of sliding and twirling to help make jumps. In 1-1, he uses the twirl to not need to stop at that pipe section for as long (it's a split second but whatever), and his 1-2 route looks like it's much faster than what UCpro posted. Note that it's actually 3 seconds slower, but he doesn't get the star powerup. I haven't watched past that, but it looks promising.

Edit: His 5-1 was a second faster before the water section, but he finished 2 seconds behind UCpro's first version.
Back in the game!
Why don't any of these NSMB Wii vids show up on youtube from you guys here, but all of the other ones do just fine?
Not a Zelda 2 refrence

Actually a pretty impressive run, you got some good wall jumps, and your star was a good choice.  Now I'm tempted to get in on it... but don't have a DV recorder Sad

Then you're spending your free time admirably! Smiley
I could be spending this time on my actual full-game speed run which won't be going online for all to see for a long time, but I'll spend it instead on these level videos. At this rate I would actually consider doing the 100% run.

Expect to see at least one more level up today.

Neskamikaze: Technically, you only need to get the last star coin if you're going to the regular exit, since you will have already gotten the first two coins from the first time through to the secret exit, but I guess that's only if you're using my 100% route...

1-2 and 1-castle were awesome by the way.
