The Phantasy Star Online run also used memory card copying to optimize segments, although normally that isn't possible, the game saves every time you quit, if you try to circumvent this it deletes everything you're carrying that isn't equipped.

good news everyone ... i have some free time and i'm going to just back on this run. I just saved my game file to my computer, so now i feel safe proceeding with actual recorded attempts. My plan is to do some practice runs and then jump into recorded attempts. I'll have a lot of time to work on this between today and tomorrow, so hopefully i'll have the next segment done soon ... which means after this weekend all i should have left is bowser's castle Wink

EDIT: just finished 2 hours of attempts ... not there yet. I have gotten REALLY consistent at 8-7 though by doing all these attempts, i can get 340 about 1 in 4 times on that level now ... i've learned little tricks to make the difficult timing jumps more consistent. 8-doomship isn't really too hard, it's just that the end fight is a little random, and i haven't found a consistent method for that part. So basically i'm just waiting till i get a 365 on that level before i accept. if i end up getting 366 i will be blown away ... i haven't managed a 366 yet.

... but more importantly because i finally finished the next segment!!!!!

this was going to be my very last attempt of the weekend ... i'm sooooooo so so so happy i was actually able to finish it. 8-7 was flawless, the fastest i've ever completed it (a mid-340) ... and 8-doomship was ALMOST a 366 which would have been absolutely amazing (i've never gotten 366 before).

Anyways, hope you enjoy it ... this run is really close to being finished!!!!

EDIT: the total run time after segment 6 is 22:00 ... and the last segment will probably be under 4 minutes. So this will be a 25:xx run Smiley

OK, i've been practicing for the last segment and i think i might be ready to start attempts this weekend. I'm going to do a live stream of my attempts Saturday night. Probably would start around 8 PST for anyone who is interested. I'll let you guys know for sure what time i'll start the stream a little later this week.

Right now my goal is going to be a high 509. 510 might be out of reach, but i'm still practicing different things. So who knows ...

sorry guys ... the power went out in my apartment complex and completely screwed over my stream for this night. I'm rescheduling my stream attempts for tomorrow (sunday) at 2 pm PST. I've got to get this done tomorrow, cause i don't know when the next time i'll be able to work on this would be.

EDIT: I FINALLY GOT IT!!! ... for some of you that watched the stream earlier, you saw i had an attempt that was SOO close (i screwed up the last second of the run). Well, i did some more attempts just now, and in about an hour i finally got a good one. It was actually ALMOST a 512!!!! I almost want to keep going until i get a 512, but i didn't really have any mistakes, but there might be just enough execution improvements to get the 512. I think i'm going to keep this very high 511 though ... i've already spent enough time on this. I'm happy to be done Smiley

i'll have the video up on youtube later tonight. Final unofficial time of my any% run is 25:38 ... knowing that, i think a good goal to shoot for when i start doing SS attempts will be sub-26 minutes. I think i can get that Smiley

wow, not sure why private was checked ... fixed now.

@kewl - i didn't stream my later attempts. i was lazy and didn't want to set it up Tongue

... plus i wanted full concentration so i could get it done.

look for me to start streaming SS attempts in maybe a month or so ... now THATS gonna be crazy. i'll be shooting for sub-26 min.
