Isn't WW the most disliked LoZ game? I don't see it ever getting into the main marathon unless some game breaking glitch is found that cuts the time by more than half. Even then it'd be a stretch.

That title is reserved for Twilight Princess. Regardless WindWaker may still be too long though. I can't really tell since there isn't an existing run to go by for an estimate.

I like how the list is looking though
if gimmick has any chance at all of making the marathon (hell, even bonus streams) then i'd want to run/race that too. i have a japanese cart though, not sure if the repro cart alec has is EU or JP

Mr. Gimmick is a fantastic game that everybody needs to see.  Can you do the best ending yet?  We could do that as a donation choice.

Yes I can do best ending, although I haven't tried speedrunning that yet. I can speedrun Any% decently atm.

@Cygher: The Reproduction cart I have is the unreleased North American version (it was a completely finished prototype, just never manufactured): http://www.retrousb.com/product_info.php?cPath=29&products_id=105

Same gameplay wise as the other versions AFAIK.

I think here's another reason that Catherine should get done at the marathon: Catherine Sales Set Atlus Record.

Atlus sales record is a joke. Yay some small niche company sold a fraction of what a major company did!

And it's attitudes like that which keep niche companies down and often times cause some of the best games to get ignored.
Balls jerky
I've played games put out by Atlus and haven't liked any of them so sue me
Fucking Weeaboo
I didn't say you had to like them.  It's the general "oh, it's a niche company who cares" attitude that gets to me.  I think some of the niche companies work harder then the big companies to get your buck.  I mean, did you see some of the extras Working Design included with the Lunar games on PSX?  Those were same DAMN nice extras.  What does Nintendo give?  Uh, a card?
.
I think his point was that a niche company making a sales record doesn't say anything about the games relative popularity compared to other developers.
Fucking Weeaboo
But it doesn't mean the game is bad either.  A high selling niche game could be a thousand times better then the crappiest game from a major company even though the major company sells 10x more.

Right, but regardless of the quality of the game, your target audience is ten times smaller than it could be.

Also more important than the quality of a game is how good it is to watch being run - I don't have any opinion on Catherine in particular, but keep that in mind.
.
Yes. Yes it can. However, just because it /can/ doesn't mean that it will, and it doesn't mean it justifies a 2.5-3 hour timeslot in a marathon that's already pretty much full up on games.
Fucking Weeaboo
That's why it's just a suggestion at this point.  I just don't want people to write it off because "oh, it's just a niche game".  That's just a stupid reason.

Personally, I think it could be fun, since it's fast, frantic, and crazy things can happen.  Plus the endings (and couple of particular cutscenes that would be bonus watches) I think would be good watches and people would enjoy to see them.
Gimme some sugar Shaggy!
Honestly I agree with Sir VG, there could be A LOT of stuff for donations for Catherine, its fast-paced even though its a puzzle game and its crazy and as he said, frantic. It's a great game and I think a lot of people would enjoy seeing it up there and donating for it.

I think you should see a doctor instead of posting on the forums then. Tongue

i'd rather see god of war (which was left out previously due to mature content!!) than catherine. im sure more people would agree with me. What do you think would bring in more donations? a game played by a couple hundred thousand people or a game played by millions? In addition to a game thats been out for years and broken wide apart to a game that's been out for a couple weeks. I give you props VG for suggesting a game thats actually released already instead of like last year where Epic Yarn wasn't even out yet.

enough of your trolling. Both would bring in a lot of donations, there would be more to donate for in Catherine though, since God of War is very linear. (Although so is catherine) God of War has better sales and has been played more, but Catherine has a lot of hype and has sold really well too.

Neither is getting in, so it's a moot point.
I'm coming into this after 20 pages, so forgive me if this was addressed after mike's posts at the top. I'm putting together a Rondo Richter-only run, using the key for every boss.

I personally think it's wicked entertaining, both for the risk (which I'm working on making marathon-safe), and the hilarious "wtf" factor. I'd love to do this run at the marathon, and would be willing to race against a Maria.

My being able to come is contingent upon my boss saying I can work remotely (so I don't use up all my vacation days), but I'm just testing the waters. What do you guys think? For reference, the TAS run uses the key.

Thoughts?
Disregard my last post, spoke  to Mike about it.

Modest Mussorgsky, sweet.

I was thinking of trying to sort out some sort of MST3K style riffing for the cutscenes in FFX (if it wins which I dunno about) but I kind of figure that cut scenes would be used up with donations and chat questions. I thought I'd throw out the idea as something I'm prepared to work through (and not just leave it floating about). I can easily pick certain cutscenes and I'm more than happy to work on this with someone else (JMan is also pretty funny). I'll let Mike/Breakdown/staff decide on this though. I don't mind working on it even with the risk of not getting to show it off if FFVII wins.

At the very least we could take donations for everyone in the room to go HA HA HA HA during THAT cutscene.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Spoilers: The only games I'm adding from this topic since I allowed some more suggestions are Toejam and Earl and Demon's Souls, since they were both highly requested games. I feel really bad not letting in Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando because it really is a great suggestion, but I have no room in the schedule for it. I'll definitely keep it in mind if people can't come and games start being dropped. Little Big Planet is also a pretty good suggestion, but again, no space.

ExtremeYoshiFan and Samura1man: lol

VG: I get it, you like Catherine. I'll also admit it is fairly popular for being a niche title, but at the same time the schedule is incredibly tight right now, and I don't even know if it's a good watch. Furthermore, people would most likely rather see normal or hard because generally people like seeing higher difficulties.

Houser: I'm glad you didn't expect real results because I'm not letting MGS4 on the schedule. MGS3 is the fan favorite.

Aleckermit: Out of those games OoT is the best choice, but Cosmo is offering MST, which is a better choice for the next AGDQ.

PEACHES: Like you said, you and I went over this in chat, and a lot of people were sad that ToeJam and Earl had to be cut from SGDQ, so the least we can do is put it in AGDQ.

Flicky: As much as I'd like that (and I'd gladly join in because I HATE FFX), I'm thinking of just making it ff7 with no bidding war because there's naming and more donation incentives with ff7.

Kibbo: That's a pretty cool suggestion. I'm personally wondering what hippie blood looks like.

Tigger77: That is a great point that a lot of people miss. What is a bad time in America is actually a pretty good time in Europe since they're 6-7 hours ahead. Prime time in America is actually somewhat bad for Europe because it's soo late at night/early in the morning.

And with that, I'm locking this topic because I'm going to make a second games topic with cuts very soon. Expect the topic no later than Tuesday.
