I really enjoyed the rationale for each game in that mega post. (I couldn't find a way to word that without sounding like a suck-up.)
You probably expected this, but I just wanted to point out that I love the total 180 here. Not trying to be mean or anything, I'm just amused and slightly frustrated at the same time.
Speaking of Shinobi though, I'm surprised you didn't mention the Playstation 2 game. Possible character and mode donations, if the player is a real masochist when it comes to practicing. Hopefully nobody is offended by absurd blood sprays?
As for games of my own (done with fancy bold, to follow the trend!):
God Hand: Honestly, the run for Japan Relief Done Quick went FAR better than any of my practice runs (make of that what you will). Ever since then I've been unsure whether or not to try again. I'm far too familiar with the game and all, but I can't help thinking someone could easily pick this game up and do a much better job. For example, I'm sure the other person would be willing to at least practice Hard mode as a donation incentive. In order to avoid a Halo massacre though, I'd strongly suggest that person start practicing very soon.
Long-story short: I'd be willing to do Easy mode again if nobody else wants to take this. Hard mode is extremely unlikely, because bad reflexes (Elvis 2!) just say "haw, no."
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory: I was hoping to spark Tigger's interest in a race, but I don't think it has worked. I'm not even close to as familiar with this game as he is, but I'm definitely willing to practice this. Though I didn't test it for very long at all, it seems a run would involve a lot more stealth than Pandora Tomorrow. I guess that means it would fit into the stealth block better this time around. Normal mode is probably the only choice here, unfortunately.
Other than those two, I don't think I have anything to add outside of joke suggestions (like SOS or Jungle Strike) and pleasepleaseplease (like Chrono Cross or Valkyrie Profile 2), . Some games I have passing interest in learning (Demon's Souls or God of War), but I know better than commit to anything on a whim.
Finally, will you need any spreadsheet ninja help this year? You probably already set one up before even making the topic, but I have crazy free time for the next two months, so...
Quote from mikwuyma:
Revenge of Shinobi and Shinobi III: These are highly-regarded genesis games that deserve at least one marathon. Revenge of Shinobi is a bit more debatable because it's slower and I'll have to see if I can make it consistent enough for a marathon (should be able to), but Shinobi III is just an awesome game and a good watch, so it's in no matter what. BTW, I'm not going to do Shadow Dancer. It's a POS for speedrunning - the slowdown drops a ton of inputs, which combined with one-hit deaths is not cool, also no one gives a shit about this game except maybe for stanski.
