I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
If you knew how much I could drink you would think twice about that.;-) I'd like that race.

Doom on the PC would be better for viewing and executing in a live SS (A lot of the time saving trick jumps are much more difficult to pull off on the XBLA).

I suppose I wouldn't really need to have a game to run in order to come out and support the event but if I come up with any ideas I'll share them.
sda loyalist
god don't run the XBLA Doom version

Also as anyone who went to Lagfest knows I am kinda pro at Mean Bean Machine/Kirby's Avalanche/Puyo Puyo so I wouldn't mind playing a bit of versus.
.
so pro you got beaten by someone who had never played it before!

once out of 15 times is still once!

Sick would be about an hour, Too Easy would be about half that.

Yeah, given how you mentioned that you were out of practice from just working on plushies last year, and I know how tough it is to plan a wedding (and the wife and I didn't have the extra challenge of dealing with visas and changing countries and all that garbage), I'm perfectly fine with you not doing KatAM.  Granted I could give you the 4P roll which is basically the easiest of it all (I think I just have them do Area 6 and that's it), but I don't want to push you.  The difference between 3P and 4P if it comes to that is only a few minutes.  I have the route for 2P, 3P, and 4P all worked out.  I've just wanted 4P because SDA basically considers MP MP, regardless of # of people.

I appreciate the offer, but I'm not going to be able to even be player 4. I think my queue alone speaks for itself. Lips Sealed

Totally understand.  I thought I'd at least tell you about the absolute easiest runner part which nobody else is dependant on the timing of when you finish, other then being done before everybody else finishes their stuff.  But if you can't, you can't.  Wish you could, but hey, wedding stuff is more important!  Weddings (should) happen once.  Speed Running is forever. Don't be ridiculous. I would most certainly defer any Zelda game to you since you'd do it better than me.
I'm not your buddy, guay!
No idea at this point if I can make it to the marathon, but if I can I am definitely up for another Zelda: Ocarina of Time race, and I have interest in doing Zelda: Majora's Mask as well (surprised how much money it raised under the circumstances).
Novice Speedrunner
Mike, can you add my games to the list? Megaman Legends (Easy Mode run, also a cult game in it's own way) and Pokemon SNAP (100%, all 63 Pokemon run, I know that you said one Pokemon game, however seeing as SNAP plays completely differently from the main series games, it could still work without being tedious).

My current times for each are 50 minutes for Megaman legends Easy Mode (this will likely be lower by marathon time) and 28 minutes for SNAP (assuming that the single luck-based part of the run, Arcanine, goes off the first time - if he doesn't, it adds about 30 secs for each attempt after, which should only take two more attempts max, as it's a 50% chance times three holes). Also, in SNAP there can be a donation bidding bit for three Special Pictures that I can send via Wii-Message Board or e-mail to winners signed (Jigglypuff Trio on Stage, Balloon Pikachu, and Ultimate Mew).

I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier - Donkey Kong Country Returns!
Haters gonna hate
NXRunner:  Megaman Legends was already shot down, and I feel pretty safe saying the same will happen to Snap.  It does have a certain quirkiness to it though.  I'd say I'm on the fence with it, but leaning heavily towards no.

qubit:  DKCR was mentioned in the first post, so if you want to learn it that's great!  It'd be a fantastic add to this year's line up.

I already tried.

I know Megaman Legends has its fans, but I don't think it would be the best marathon run, not because it's difficult or anything, but because I can't think of anything that really sticks out.

As I mentioned in an earlier post (around page 3 or so) my chances of going to Maryland for the marathon are next to nil, because at the moment it's scheduled RIGHT at the start of the second term for Canadian universities Sad

DK28: Sorry, yes you are on for DD II.

Dragondarch: You're right, I didn't mention a Julius run because I completely forgot the mode existed. It would probably be worth doing once. Well 1:30:00 is a bit long, but that was the estimate for Fusion, so I guess that's fine for Zero Mission.

As for the rest of the stuff...all I can say is I'm sorry. Hmm I know everyone who has played Lufia II likes it, but I don't know if it would be a good add for 2013.

Caleb: I'm not sure about 100%, ask tiki about that, maybe we can do a bidding war for any% versus 100%? I'll let you race Tiki as long as if you can keep up. Tongue

Hmmm what difficulty for Twin Snakes? If the difficulty is Extreme, then it might be worth doing Twin Snakes again, though people would probably bitch about Twin Snakes being done a third time.

I would play on normal since it is the quickest way to get through that game, given boss patterns and such. But, if it comes down to it, it doesn't have to be ran. If people would like to see MGS1 instead, that's fine by me. I just won't be the one running it. I can do an any% of Super Metroid instead. My best time for it is 0:42 right now, but I can practice a lot more to knock the time down.

Pffft. Mercury needs to run this; she's Emptyeye-tier at this game!

EDIT: See? R. Lee Ermey agrees with me! You don't wanna piss off R. Lee Ermey!

Alright, some time estimates. Maverick Hunter X should be 50 minutes worst case for either category. Good call making it Old vs New, by the way. That'll be cool too. Though I know if the game makes it, I know a lot of people will ask about a Vile run.

Both No More Heroes should be a little under 2 hours, so mark them down as 2:15 just in case. Oh and yeah, NMH1 has to be New Game Plus. Clear file we'd be looking upwards of 6 hours of boring grinding. In NMH2, though, there's really no difference between New Game and New Game Plus. The estimate for NMH1 may change a little if we end up using the PS3 version that's coming out next month.

For X6 8boss, let's go with 1:20:00-1:25:00 to cover for the randomness.

Well, two new long games could be a lot.  Maybe you could practice seasons, and tigger practice ages, or something like that?  Assuming neither of you really care that you wouldn't be guaranteed to play, which is not a very likely assumption.

I don't care losing in a bidding war against a pretty? girl :-)
Getting more money for the cause is all that matters. And I think a bidding war between the oracle games can do a really good job on this.
also the marathon is sutch a great thing that me playing zelda don't makes a different for me.

Oracle games DO IT ! <3 ( I MAY be biased)

Heidman: No X2? You're a beast at that game so I'm surprised you wouldn't offer it.

The form of Contra depends on who else is willing to run the game. I think a race or co-op is a great idea. So if you want to race whoever else offers to play, then I'm down for it.

Sorry, can't give you Mystical Ninja. Goemon games are bigger in Japan than America.\

I was assuming you knew I was willing to run my usual games... Yes, X2 is still on the table if the game is wanted for the marathon. Tiki will crush me in an Any% race, but we will see what happens.

About Contra games, I have already stated my preferences. And again, I will do what the viewers want.

No worries about Goemon, just an off the wall offer.

I'd see two suggestions for AGDQ2:
- More 5th/6th/7th generation games, especially PlayStation/Xbox games.
- Online races, someone running live at 4-H Center and someone running from his home anywhere in the world.

My feelings on The Demon Rush
Well Pootrain, it's up to you which mode you want to run, or maybe we should make Sick a donation goal?

Vorpaledge: Cool, just tell me which game(s) you're comfortable with.

Skullboy: You know you're going to have to practice a lot to get to tiki's level, right?

Runnerguy2489: Cool, but are you familiar with MST? That's the category I'd like to do this year. I know you've done 100% runs before

If you can put in the practice for Majora's Mask, I can easily give it to you.

NXRunner: Like Breakdown said, MM Legends isn't happening. It's less to do with popularity and more to do with the fact a speedrun of the game isn't the most exciting thing ever.  Snap is also a no.

Caleb: It looks like Super Metroid is already a race, and 42 minutes was the time last year, so if you put in the time to lower it this year, I'm cool with it.

Satoryu: Okay, are the No More Heroes games good watches though? I can say that we can play only one of them if it makes the cut, since scheduling is so tight.

Hmm, X6 is longer than I thought (I thought it would be around an hour), but that should be okay I guess. I'm assuming that extra time isn't for switching configs. Tongue

Oracle Zelda games: Well it looks like we have a bidding war then. What's a good time estimate for the games? I'd also say it looks like we have all of the Zelda games we need if Seasons and Majora's Mask are in.

Linkinito: I hope you meant Playstation 2 there. Tongue

Hell no to online races. Way too long to setup, and we wouldn't even know if the guy has a working stream.

I know. I recently got an NES and I figure what better way to challenge myself? I've beaten the game several times before and now I just have to add the speedrun polish. Lots of it. That and research. Lots of that too.
