I took some time to put up what I think is the best approach for tracking speedrun times at speedrun.com: http://www.speedrun.com/The_Evil_Within

Let's make this the official leaderboards (link it in the OP/title)?

I've covered NG and NG+ for both Casual and Akumu. I don't see any reason to include other difficulties. I've also added the variable of segmented so people can add times to the same board via answering Yes or No on run submission and not clog it up by having 4 different leaderboards.

Hello Kivur, welcome to the forum and thanks for the follow on Twitch! I followed you back. 2:49:46 is pretty good, I'll have to come by and watch you sometime. I should be doing a run today hoping for 2:40.

Thanks Kivur! I also saw Mihawk Boo's times. Been checking on your guys forum topic you have. His 2:47 for his NG+ Akumu segmented run is awesome as well! Wonder how far that category can go down.

yeah Mihawk BOO make an incredible time, but he still works on his akumu segmented run and i think he can beat his time.

The only thing I don't like about that Kivur is that Mihawk uses the pause trick to manipulate the timer and pause it while game loads the cutscene skip. I don't really allow that myself in single segment or segmented runs personally. Mostly because it's not actually faster if you think about it, it's actually slower, just manipulating the timer to say it's faster because it doesn't run while paused. Especially single segment anyways. Still cool for Akumu though.

2:38 would be the absolute limit it seems. My sum best splits is about a 2:38:54 so JUST 2:38.

New glitch somebody found to skip Laura in chapter 10:

Game doesn't load checkpoint though and room is unloaded after, so you get stuck lol. Funny cause I tried exactly what this guy did for hours one night and never got anything.

A skip for this part is finally found and it doesn't lead to anything. Of course.

So he got onto the stair rail right? Could try this on other staircases. This game doesn't seem to have any rules when it comes to glitching lol.

I found a sequence break in chapter 11. I haven't been keeping up with threads about this game and I only watched the run from Magnum66 a few posts up, that seemed to be the most recent run and he didn't use the sequence break so I figured I'll post about it here Smiley

I don't know if this also works on consoles, I have the game on PC. I didn't practise it or anything so it took a while to get it done Cheesy

Skip to 2:13 for the sequence break. And when I got over the fence in the beginning I ran to the left but I should've just taken the path to the right Smiley

Yes you can continue on and everything loads fine, although I do remember now that the game crashed 2 times in 2 different spots somewhere further ahead after this part. Don't know if it's related, quite possibly it's not related because I also remember the game crashed at some point when I booted it up (I believe that was after clicking in the "Press Enter" screen when you're in your cell). I can remember the game crashed once in the street part where Ruvik spawns a fake of himself, when that cutscene ended the game suddenly crashed but the next time it didn't crash there. I can't remember the other place the game crashed.
So yeah needs to be tested a bit I guess Smiley

Just a shame since Magnum stopped, Evil Within running is pretty much dead and always will be.

Cool break but it looks crazy hard to do consistently in SS.

So this isn't actually an OOB really since the area after the fence still loads? Anyone know if it works on console yet?
I might test it on PS3 later if I have time.

DLC is coming real soon. Magnum will definitely be back for that. Can't wait to see what nonsense we can find.

I tested on PS4 and it works. I made a consistent set up for it and got it over 10 times in a row.

The height you aim and width is very important. You want to aim where I do in the video. Aim ABOVE the horizontal pipe part of the fence, and on the right there is 2 small thin poles. You want to put the crosshair on the right part of the LEFT pole. Run straight forward until you land on door, then turn left and jump off. Turn touch camera and turn it in mid air or you'll mess it up.

Been working on the new DLC, The Assignment. Just finished it today, pretty good so far and will be interesting to run/glitch hunt. Starting to come up with some strats already. Came up with this fast strat for the Joseph fight:

Description: Fastest method, but risky. Joseph can react 3 different ways after the first axe. He can walk up to the back of the room, direction you are facing and you have to follow him and takes longer. He can walk through the middle and you just get behind him when back is turned and it's almost just as fast. Or what I get in this video. I think it has to do with how close you are to him hiding behind the machine. I stay as far on the right side of the machine as I can and he seems almost always come over to me. Then the last axe is also risky. Most times though if you just stay against the wall, you can get behind him as he walks in and finish the fight. Sometimes though he will run in, which is fine. Other times though he runs into the other room and you have to slowly follow him and if you're too fast you'll get spotted.

There is a much safer way to do this, but about 20-30 seconds slower. You hide under bed after 1st axe and get out when he turns around, then run into final room and turn on projector. Joseph will walk into room and focus on the movie, you sneak up and kill him.
