Have been speedrunning since ESA2013. Would not be against doing a race with RoboSparkle (who played this category at ESA2013), or anyone else interested.

I wouldn't be opposed to a race; however as I can't stream my PS1 I've only really ran this a couple of times since ESA last year.  I am also offering a LOT of other games that will demand my attention if they make cuts.  If this gets in again and I'm not able to race then I will happily provide commentary though Smiley

1. Muscle March - multiplayer%
Estimate: 50
Personal best: N/A
Console: Wii

This is strictly for the second stream as there can be up to four players flexing their muscles at a time.
This is one of the most craziest Japanese games I have ever witnessed.

The Plot of the Game: You play as a buff body builder in a thong chasing a golden man, who stole your weight gainer, on a rainbow through brick walls.
You play with a wiimote and nunchuck mimicking the Golden man's moves as he flexes and crashes through each wall.

I thought it would be a very random and funny input for ESA, as nothing like this has ever been displayed. And probably never will again.

As a donation incentive, I thought about playing this game in a banana suit to create more randomness.
And just to be clear, yes I am serious about all of this. This is not a troll.

This is basically what the gameplay will look like :

I would like to have my submissions deleted, as of recently there is basically a 0% chance of me getting to ESA.
We have had a second meeting to go over the remaining pages of the suggestions thread in order to cut out some titles that we don’t believe would be good for a marathon setting. We will be giving short reasons for these choices so that those who have made the effort to suggest them have some form of understanding as to why they were removed. We would like to one again take this opportunity to thank everyone for the great response and we are very grateful for all of your suggestions.

This round of cuts is focused purely on the game and/or category and is not related to the runner themselves - meaning it’s not to do with their skill level, commentary and other related factors.

If your game or category is not on this list, it's still in for now. We have listed the runner and category with the cut to make it easier for you to identify your runs.

If you have a question, comment or problem with a cut, please send a PM to this account and we will get back to you.
Do not fill this thread with non-game suggestion posts.

This is only round 1 of cuts. We will have to make (a lot) more cuts!
These are the games/categories that we decided didn’t make the round 1 cut:

Pages 5-9
Castlevania 5 - WERY
Gyromite – WERY
The Goonies – WERY
Realm – WERY
These are several older titles that can be taken out in favour of more popular games. WERY made a lot of submissions so we’d thought we’d cut some of them now to hopefully ease his preparation.

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep - Any% - RoryExtraLife
While it’s very likely that a Kingdom Hearts game will get into ESA, we’re going to go with either of the console titles.

Ultimate Flash Sonic - Any% - Batch
This was in the last cut too.

Octodad - Any% – S or Kotti
Octodad has had its day and with Dadliest Catch being released, we’re going to wait and see how that develops.

GTA: San Andreas - 100% - S
Again, there could end up being a lot of GTA at this marathon and we can’t slot in 18 hours for one game.

Mega Man X - 100% - Jinny
While this may come as a surprise, we believe we have some good reasons for cutting this title. Mega Man X has been in multiple marathons and I don’t think it’ll necessarily be missed. Secondly, there’s no way we can compete with a Tiki & Caleb race that will be at SGDQ. Mega Man X is America’s game, so we’d like to let them keep it.

Ninja Gaiden 2 - Any% - Jinny
Again, this is for similar reasons as Mega Man X. We don’t feel that we need to have all the Ninja Gaiden games just for the sake of it.

Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 - Any% - XSlicer
All Treasures shows a lot more of the game as is a lot more interesting.

GTA: Vice City - 100 Packages – Tyr/Jolzi
This is a partial category which we ruled out in the marathon. We’d like to show off some alternative categories for certain games, but we’re leaning towards Bingo right now.

Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis - All stages - Chucat
We should have enough Sonic Games without these two. As great as awful ports are, we’d like to stick to the good titles this year.

Link: The Faces of Evil - Cutscene% - Tompa
We can’t have both of the CD-I Zelda games so we’re going with the one people will recognise. People know these cutscenes and will want to see them for real.

Cookie Clicker - Cookies - Kynos
Not even sure this is actually a game.

The Maw - Any% - AMVX
While this is adorably cute, it’s adorably not broken. It’s an unknown title and it’s too solidly made to be interesting to those who don’t know it.

Resident Evil 4 – Separate Ways - Any% - Skullbot
We’d like to stick to the original game only for this.

Ninja Gaiden 3 - Any% – InfestedRiche
See Ninja Gaiden 2

Kick Master - Any% - InfestedRiche
There are more interesting and popular NES games for us to feature.

Those are all the cuts so far. Remember that suggestions stay open until the 9th of March 2014. We will start to ask for video and updates soon and will be keep a close eye on progress from then on. There are many runs that we’ve left in for now as we’re giving them a chance to develop first!

1. Tomb Raider 2013: Any% Normal
Estimate: 1:50:00
PB: 2:14:43 (2nd run)
Console: PC

Tomb Raider was/is a popular game. It just so happens that there is a hell of a lot of tricks/glitches that you can abuse. You can go straight through locked doors, go out of bounds and even "skywalk" up an entire mountain to skip a good portion of the game. You don't even collect key items like fire arrows or the rope ascender. The best part is that Alex gets to live!

Going to get very serious about running this game once I fully master how to "skywalk" so my time will come down by a lot

2. Hitman Absolution: Any%

I'm planning on picking this up shortly, Kotti has the WR for this (I think). Not much else to say at this point. If you can only choose one I suggest Kotti doing blood money over this

I'd also be down for Vice City bingo, make it happen! Also for Rock Band I play expert guitar thumbsup

Although I probably don't feel like running a game on my own, I would really be in for:

1. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City: - Joining the Bingo

With the whole GTA crew joining ESA this year, this just has to happen.
If the amount of participants gets too high, might making duos be a good idea?

Just a note : I just updated my post page 8 to show new WR and new PB on CV64.

4. Toejam and Earl - Co-op (w/ Cruxit)
Estimate: 45:00
Personal Best: ~50mins
Console: SNES (NTSC-U)

We did this at last ESA during bonus and it was tons of fun. We're currently routing the game and will soon begin practice, so we'd love to give it another go this year. This is probably more suited for the secondary stream currently, though that might change by July.

3. GTA: Vice City: 100% or 97%
Estimate: 9:00:00 or 6:45:00
Personal best: 8:17:30 or 6:32:24
WR: See above
Console: PC

The difference between 100% and 97% is most of the "boring" stuff in the game. This includes Paramedic, Taxi fares, firefighter, Vigilante (aka all of the sub missions) Pizzaboy is left in because it starts when you hop on the bike and you don't have to start it manually (plus I do some collecting while on that mission) Imo 97% is more "marathon" friendly. Vigilante is pretty great in the hunter, I could throw it in and call it 98%, not a real category but it shows the best of VC 100% without most of the downtime

However, if you would like I would be up for doing the full 100% Smiley

Hello, I'm sorry but I'd like to withdraw my submissions for ESA (Quake 3, SMB3 and Mr. Nutz). Since my first post, the situation had changed quite a bit for me and i was debating on whether I should withdraw now or wait a bit more to see if there was any change.

The fact that Mitch submitted makes me glad because I can now remove my submissions knowing that SMB3 will have a strong showing regardless of my presence, which was a concern in the first place. I'm just sad to not be able to play Quake 3 in a marathon setting.

Sorry for the inconvenience and good luck for the rest of the selection!

Hello ESA, ive been noted a few days ago that during the ESA time i will have to do some other unavoidable tasks and jobs, so i would like to withdraw my game submission.

I will try again in a year and make sure i have the time then.

Im sorry for the inconvenience.

This has been suggested by RoryExtraLife as well. It would perhaps be possible to do a race against him.
I think it's pretty interesting to see the way the bosses easily get defeated even though back in the day I'm sure a lot of people were having problems with them.
I play the Japanese version myself mainly, but it is not a problem to play it in English, aside from being accustomed to the Japanese button layout. There's little to no difference with these 2 versions.
WR is: 2:54:40 and hard to beat. Run has been optimized as far as we know right now.
Caution: This user contains Kana ^_^
Now I'm neither part of the game selection nor of the scheduling crew, but I believe what was said in the Crystals for Life thread holds true:
RPG races are a very bad idea because they are a lot more RNG than skill (usually) and therefore the chances of massive (and boring) blowouts are pretty real.
