This is a fast paced run with a lot of impressive looking tricks. Although this was ran last year, there have been a lot of route improvements since then, bringing the time down by over 5 minutes. Max Payne is a popular series and I would expect it to be well received. This could possibly be done as a race with Kotti if he is interested.

1. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles - Knuckles any%
Estimate: 50:00
Personal best: None mentionworthy
Console: Wii PAL60
I want to come full circle with S3K ESA runs. This is a category I've looked into a lot the last month or so and I know the S3 half pretty well already. There are a few things I have to flesh out in the S&K part and just generally practise the whole game but I'm confident I'll get a good run by then considering my history with this game.

2. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - any%
Estimate: 30:00
Personal best: ~21 min (real time)
Console: Wii PAL60
I am one of 3 people that have gotten sub 16 ingame time in this game and I'd really like a repeat of this game considering it's the game I'm best at and to have the complete trilogy on ESA. Not much have changed with the route other than a strat I came up with that allows for an old glitch to be used consistently, but you can never go wrong with a good run of one of the most popular Sonic games, containing a healthy amount of glitches and high execution.

3. Sonic the Hedgehog - any%
Estimate: 30:00
Personal best: ~25 minutes (real time)
Console: Wii PAL60
I've been wanting to learn this game for a long while but I always put it aside in favour of Sonic 2. I did have a streak where I practised the whole game and got a decent time within 2 days. If someone like TeeNTee314 would show up I'd gladly drop it in favour of the better runner though. Either way I think it's time for the original to have its debut at ESA to complete the trilogy!

4. Sonic Colours - Egg Shuttle
Estimate: 1:10:00
Personal best: None mentionworthy, but I've done a lot of IL's (http://soniccenter.org/members/timpz/sonic_colors_wii/times).
Console: Wii PAL60
This game I've looked into the last few weeks. I've only done IL's of about half the levels, but those IL's are also very good considering the time I've put into it. I'm expecting to do an egg shuttle run at least by the time the game suggestions stop, at which point I'll update this post with my PB's. I'll gladly race Don in this category!

5. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 & Knuckles - any%
Estimate: 30:00
Personal best: None mentionworthy
Console: Wii PAL60
In the case that Sonic 2 won't be accepted 2 years in a row, I am prepared to learn S2K instead. There are a lot of similarities and I already know most if not all the routes so all it really would take is some time to grind the levels out. However I feel like I won't be able to hold myself to a certain quality for my runs if I'm required to focus on too many games which is why I put this lower than the original Sonic 2.

--------------------------
Notice that all the runs above are labeled as Wii PAL60. I will make a serious effort to make the switch to NTSC Genesis, but if I feel unconfident I will fall back to the release I've used for 2 years now, Sonic Mega Collection on Gamecube.

I heard about Tompa doing a TAS tutorial of sorts. If I may I'd very much like to make an extension of that regarding Genesis games in general but with a focus on Sonic. I've Speedrunned, TASed and hacked Sonic games for about 2 years now so I'd like to think I know at least something about the subject. So if there's interest I could write out a script to follow where I show how the Genesis works on a more technical level, how things are loaded, how objects work, how to work with a hex-editor, how to reprogram a game in assembly and maybe explain some things about the Sonic engine that either wouldn't be able to fit in commentary during the runs or that the general audience might not be as interested in. I think something like 20-30 minutes would suffice but I won't know for sure until I flesh out a script of sorts and I won't do that until I get a clear on it. If it comes down to it I'll cut out some parts to fit it within a specified limit.

1. Croc: Legend of the Gobbos - 100%
Estimate: 2:10:00
Personal best: 1:51:35 (WR - Played on emulator, which is quite a bit faster than console due to loading times)
Console: PS1 (NTSC-U) - played on an NTSC-U PS2 due to it being faster.
Croc is a 3D platformer with a lot of interesting tricks and glitches to offer. I think the game is a really underrated speedrun, and I would love to see it run at a marathon such as ESA. I can offer you high quality execution of a very well-routed game. I feel like 100% would be the superior category for a marathon, since each level consists of several rooms and the game loads every time you enter a new room - in 100% you pick up a lot of items in each room whereas in any% you just rush through each room leading to a very high load screen to actual gameplay ratio. Furthermore in 100% you get to see more of the game in addition to being less risky than any%. To sum it up 100% has a much higher entertainment value.

2. Croc: Legend of the Gobbos - Any%
Estimate: 1:10:00
Personal best: 41:43 (WR - Played on emulator, which is quite a bit faster than console due to loading times)
Console: PS1 (NTSC-U) - played on an NTSC-U PS2 due to it being faster.
As I've already stated any% provides less entertainment value, but is still a great run with several tricks you don't get to see in 100%. There's a lot of risk involved hence why the estimate is so much higher than my PB. This is due to having to perform frame-perfect tricks to shave off mere seconds, at the potential cost of minutes. Even then sub 50 is still very likely.

It's on Source engine so it's bound to be broken. You can clip through doors/walls, bunnyhopping and OP spells. The game has some ammount of cutscenes mostly under a minute of them between chapters. Should be an entertaining watch.
The game has had a lot of new tricks found the past 2 months and hopefully will continue to get even more broken before ESA.

1. Metroid Zero Mission - 100% (Potential Race with Mobiusman)
Estimate: 1:30:00
Personal Best: 1:15:29
Console: GameBoy Advance / Gameboy player on Gamecube
While Any% stayed mostly the same, 100% was reworked a lot relatively lately (causing me to create a new TAS of the category, which was starred AND voted GBA run of the year). The run has a lot of smaller tricks and fast movement and is less luck reliant compared to any%.
http://www.twitch.tv/dragonfangs/c/2514095 (fastest recorded run I have, about a minute slower than my actual PB)

2. Metroid Zero Mission - any%
Estimate: 55:00
Personal Best: 41:23
Console: GameBoy Advance / Gameboy player on Gamecube
Zero Mission is very open with tons of secret passages and the route seemed to get questioned or changed almost monthly for all categories of the game the past year. While Any% has managed to stay mostly the same it still has plenty of interesting tricks, ammo management and is very fast-paced.

3. Metroid Fusion - 100%
Estimate: 2:00:00
Personal Best: 1:44:39
Console: GameBoy Advance / Gameboy player on Gamecube
100% is very similar to any% for a majority of the run, with only a couple of detours for items and some differing strats because of these items. The biggest change is a major cleanup segment at the end of the game, this part is a slew of difficult tricks and intense item pickups for 15-20 minutes and is a very entertaining watch.
http://www.twitch.tv/dragonfangs/c/3470569

4. Metroid Fusion - any%
Estimate: 1:30:00
Personal Best: 1:18:59
Console: GameBoy Advance / Gameboy player on Gamecube
Metroid games are always good for speedgaming and despite Fusion's more linear nature, it still has a lot of movement optimization and enemy dispatchment strategies. 1% is usually done instead of any% at marathons, but any% is much more reliable, lets you take more risks and is far less of a drag against the higher health bosses.
http://www.twitch.tv/dragonfangs/c/2374631 (not actually my RTA pb but pretty close. We usually compare ingame time and my real pb didn't break 48 either so I never bothered to save the footage)

I'll also add that I am one of the premiere TASers of both these games (my published runs: http://tasvideos.org/Movies-225up-Obs.html ). I heard that Tompa might do a TAS segment and I would be glad to help out if I can.

This game done at the normal difficulty is much harder and has more stages than the easy category.

I may be up for a Mega Man 1 race or something, but I always played on emulator and I don't have any way of practicing with a NTCS console all the pixel perfect stuff that you need in this game. Can I decide this when I'll be at ESA after some practice?

1. Quake 3 Arena - Beat the game (Nightmare difficulty)
Estimate: 1:00:00 (includes PC setup)
Personal best: 47:36
Console: PC

I'll elaborate more on this submission because I know this is not an obvious pick for speedrunning, but I'd really love to play it for ESA (hence #1 in my list). Q3A is generally considered to be the epitome of the fast FPS genre. Of course it was for the multiplayer mode, because the single player is a succession of skirmishes against bots but it still gives a pretty good idea of how fast and brutal this game could be. Contrarily to what some people seem to think, this is definitely not a spawn camping run: on the contrary, i spend most of my time circle/straffe jumping around the map. There's no cutscene, it's just 45 minutes of bloodbath (the single player mode is a succession of 26 stages with a fraglimit FFA). I would do it in the highest difficulty (aka Nightmare), because any less than that would just not be adequate. I wish I had a video to show for it but I haven't streamed this game yet (I'm not new at it though, I've played the multi for more than 10 000 hours over the course of 12 years, it's just that i've only played the single player mode offstream so far because i had a few settings issues with it (that i solved recently)). I plan on optimizing IL strats further so my PB should go down a bit more soon.

2. Super Mario Bros. 3 - any% warpless or 100%

Personal best: 52:49 warpless / 1:11:58 100%
Console: NES

100% is imo the better RTA category but for a marathon, both categories have pros and cons. Warpless is more intense and fun because of the RNG, 100% feels complete. I don't really mind one way or the other.

3. Mr. Nutz - any%
Estimate: 40:00
Personal best: 34:58
Console: SNES (playing on wii)

I'm throwing that in because I'm very capable at that game and the reception to it has been pretty good when I played it for online marathons. It seems to be a generic SNES platformer at first but it really manages to stand out thanks to its unique creepiness. Some bosses are really fucked up. It's a pretty cool game.

There's two 35:xx runs in the archives of Happy Tails & SRG3 somewhere. The 34:58 was a practice run for SRG3 so I don't have a video of it. Tbh I know I'll cut one more minute eventually so I didn't really bother saving the marathon runs somewhere.

The series are know for it's notorious difficulty. I'm submitting the final installment on the manliest difficulty. A few route changes are made to accommodate for the huge increase of enemy damage. But all in all, it's the same run, same crazy abuse of force power, ridiculous fight versus the Emperor and the epic escape from the Death Star! It's fun for the whole family!

Console: PC
This game is really cool to play and to watch. It makes people's brain go crazy, especially with latest advanced strats and glitches. As Kanban Said, he will attend this ESA, but since I'm not sure, I propose a race against him if I'm here, and if not, he can run solo.

2. Another Perspective - any% (= 100 % in this game)
Estimate: 15 min
Personal best: 11:42 (WR)
Console: PC
This game is somewhat inspired by Braid. It is shorter and based on another mechanic than time-manipulation. It is newer and therefore have fewer tricks when it comes to speedrunning, but me and Kanban have found some interesting stuff. Also the game developer, who will be at ESA and can therefore commentate, might release some additional stuff for this game which makes speedrunning it more interesting. As Kanban Said, he will attend this ESA, but since I'm not sure, I propose a race against him if I'm here, and if not, he can run solo.

Played Otogi 1 last year at ESA so it's time for the second game this year. People liked the first Otogi game so it's nice to have a follow up with Otogi 2. The game has even bigger bosses than the first one, with new speed strats that make the game fresh and interesting.

Estimate : 50 minutes
Personal best : 38:38 (WR)
Console : PC
http://www.twitch.tv/tyriounet/c/3293087
This is a really cool category that not a lot of people run unfortunately. You basically have to go to 100 places in the city as quickly as possible. It's interesting because of the city layout, it requires to perform some tricks to get to normally inaccessible parts, and use a variety of vehicles. There is also basically no rng in this category, which is surprising for a GTA.
It would be perfect for a second stream game.

This is a pretty fun game, both to watch and to run, and with all the glitches and skips and general optimization found not too long ago, my goal would be sub 4 hours for ESA.

3. Saints Row IV - any% (possible coop with Fatzke)
Estimate : 4h30
Personal best : 4:50:xx (fastest known : 4:22)
Console : PC
I very recently started running this and we're planning on doing a coop run with Fatzke which should be ready for ESA. It is also a very entertaining run filled with explosions and silly things. A coop run would most likely be faster than a solo run by quite a bit (up to 20 or 30 minutes maybe).

4. GTA: Vice City - any%

I used to be very active in this category before and my PB was once a WR. A lot of new strats have been found since then and my pb is now completely outdated. I wouldn't mind relearning the game for a big race  or something at ESA if something like this happens.

I would also be a participant in the Vice City bingo that eidgod talked about, if it happens (it really should).

Very long game, but we're working at cutting it down. If it's anything over 5 hours estimate, I'll cut it.

2. Bayonetta - Any%
Estimate: 2:40:00
Personal best: 2:19 (WR but at least 5 minutes to come off that soon)
Console: X360

Beatrix essentially threw down in his comment. If he's up to scratch, I'll happily let him do it. There are multiple characters for donations as well or we can split the run half and half. This all depends on the first point I made too.

Short, sweet and classic.
Mitchel fowler improved my WR a little bit last year but I am still the record holder on SDA page: http://speeddemosarchive.com/Mario3.html

1. Ghouls 'n' Ghosts - Any% Professional
Estimate: 0:25:00
Personal Best: 0:17:27 (WR) http://www.twitch.tv/chucat/c/3541419
Console: Genesis
Short and sweet game, full of rng that I've gotten close to completely mastering now (this'll come back to bite me). If anyone is up for running Ghosts 'n Goblins, SGnG or even the Arremer games, then we could get a nice little block going.

2. Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis - Any%
Estimate: 0:35:00
Personal Best: 0:32:14
Console: Game Boy Advance
Known as the Sonic Game that is so bad that even the Sonic Speedrunning Community refuses to acknowledge its existence. Known for absolutely busted physics (which are actually awesome), enormous frame delay and a tiny field of view (you see around 20% of the normal version of Sonic 1), despite this, it's a really fun speedgame, with most of the levels being able to be completed faster than the "zipless TAS". Fully intending to optimize this by the way.

3. Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis - Any%
Estimate: 0:30:00
Personal Best: 0:28:08
Console: PC
An emulated version of Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis for the GBA, basically a Sonic 1 romhack, this removes the postage stamp sized field of view and the enormous slowdown but retains the same broken physics and allows some degree of "zipping" (aka going through a wall at walking speed).

4. The Addams Family - Any% Race
Estimate: 0:05:00
Personal Best: 0:01:38
Console: Game Boy
Game centered entirely around a 2 frame trick, this will bring the hype, I will only do this if Bangerra is in.

1. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island - Any% Warpless
Estimate: 2:00:00
PB: 1:49:41
WR: 1:46:24
Console: SFC

Comment: Yoshi's Island is an entertaining game you can't miss out on in the schedule. We have an active community with lots of good runners and this could be a really good race seeing how we all are very close to each other skill wise - 4 way race hype?
1. Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon - any% Cutscenes
Estimate: 1:00:00
PB: 48:00 (old)
Console: CD-i
ZSR marathon run: http://www.twitch.tv/zeldaspeedruns/c/2923517

Comment: Oh boy, I can't wait to run some CD-i games! A classic bad games that a lot of people are interested in seeing, as most people don't know that much about the Zelda CD-i games. Bad cutscenes are a must!

2. Link: The Faces of Evil - any% Cutscenes
Estimate: 1:10:00
PB: 51:xx (old)
Console: CD-i
ZSR marathon run: http://www.twitch.tv/zeldaspeedruns/c/2923526

Comment: Mah boi, this run is what all true warriors strive! Pretty much same as for WoG. Though Faces of Evil has been less shown at marathons and is equally bad. Not the most interesting gameplay, when it comes to speedrunning, for any of the two games. The entertainment value comes from the badness of the games afterall.

Not 100% sure if I can make it or not to ESA yet. So just putting this up as a back up game if I can't make it. (will know soon if I can or not)
