It's time to begin process of compiling the game schedule for European Speedster Assembly 2013. The dates are July, 15th-21st.

The total length of the marathon has not yet been decided because we simply don't know how much interest there is from speedrunners to come to ESA. But we are looking at 72 hours minimum. Though we hope to be able to almost double that. However it does not mean that we will lower the standards in order to stretch the schedule.

This is not a sign-up, but a game suggestion thread. But when suggesting games, make sure you are willing to put in the effort and effort on said game!

When writing your games, please include title, system, run category and estimate.

Now is not the time for rejecting suggestions. That comes later! Cheep Bane quote strikes again... Smiley

Edit: We have a soft deadline for suggesting games and it's March 25th. So feel free to suggest races or co-op runs if you are several runners suggesting the same game. After that date we will take about 10 days to figure out an intitial schedule. And finally re-work it until it's perfect (or at least as good as it gets) over the following ~20 days. When the initial schedule is published, you as a runner will need confirm your planned attendance.

No further additions will be made to the schedule after May 1st unless someone has to pull out last minute.

Feel free to start suggestions now! Smiley

Schedule:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Al2bOTojRyCldHpiZjJlZUtRRDJ2N21KVG5aNUdXaUE#gid=0

We need to cut 10 hours right now. Then we're done and ready! Smiley
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApEWxszNBGpHdGNGeENFSVM4VWxoQ0dfLVhvc2VYVnc#gid=1
Make sure to check all the "tabs" of the spreadsheet. Since games are divided by category.

Precursor
Quite. Time to copy most of my post over from the planning forum. And add things.

Gonna begin with looking back at my ESA2012 runs, to see what's worth doing again. Starting with...

Duo Princess - I had a good run of this last time. I have learned a new trick or two since, but I see no reason to repeat this one. A Mint run wouldn't be different enough. The only thing that could perhaps make it a valid marathon run again would be a 2-player run, but not this year. So yeah.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World [X360] - This, on the other hand? Gigadeon screwed me over. I need revenge. I definitely need revenge. So re-sign me up with this!
Category: Supreme Master NG+ with Ramona (but see below, too)
Estimated time: To account for screwups and stuff, make it 1:10:00.
Donation incentives: I'm going to see if I can get consistent enough with all characters to make character choice a donation war. If not, I'll use Ramona. Potentially blood code and coins-to-animals code.
Other: Will fight Mr. Chau if he appears on the map.

Ufouria [NES] - Yeah, I need my marathon revenge on this too. But no need to repeat the same category as last time when I have more things I can do with the game, so:
Category: any%
Estimated time: I think we can make this 0:50:00 and still be overly safe. Can probably cut that by another five minutes and still be a safe estimate but leave it at fifty for now.
Donation incentives: None at the moment
Other: If I have worked out a death abuse route, maybe make deathless or death abuse a donation challenge, or something.

And since last time I've gotten good enough at a bunch of other games to add as well!

Bionic Commando Rearmed [X360] - The when I originally wrote this message latest and proudest addition to my speedrunning repertoire.
Category: 100% since I did any% at AGDQ
Estimated time: Yeah, keep it at 1:20:00.
Donation incentives: None.
Other: I might get some more wire swinging games in. Stay tuned.

Little Samson [NES] - People wanted to see this. And when I say people, I mean Frezy. Last time I said I wasn't consistent enough. I am now! PAL version - while the conversion was competently made so the game as such doesn't run any slower, I recently discovered that it still brings with it some timing differences, mostly when it comes to enemies.
Category: Easy with warps. At least it'll start that way.
Estimated time: 0:20:00 for the basic run.
Donation incentives: Skipping warps! The game has two warps. One of them skips like six stages. One of them skips one stage. These should be separate donation goals and both for the same amount because the one stage you have to play by skipping the second warp is the single worst stage in the game. At this point in time I don't have any figures for how much time they'd add but I'll find that out. Maybe like 10 minutes if both warps are skipped.
Other: Normal mode isn't an incentive because normal mode is horrible to try to go fast in.

Adventure Ponies [PC] - This is a flash game and suggesting it isn't entirely a joke.
Category: any%
Estimated time: I'd say five minutes. But it's a flash game so let's include annoying setup time and potential computer fuckups. So 0:10:00.
Donation incentives: See, this is the entire reason I want to run this. Six characters, I can run it with all of them, the slowest I have done in just over three minutes. Therefore: Donation war for best pony, just to make the dumbest marathon donation war official. Note that that's limited to the main characters, so Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity and Fluttershy. If the donation was doesn't take off it'll be with Fluttershy because she tears the game apart.
Other: Friendship is Magic and you'll like it

Wild Guns [SNES] - Plans for this were made at last ESA, so we're making it happen.
Category: 2-player co-op (WERY and me)
Estimated time: Right now, we're going with 0:30:00 as a safe estimate. Might be cut by a bit. The TAS finishes in 19 minutes.
Donation incentives: Probably none.
Other: pew pew
Make it so.
Oh man ESA hype!

Pokemon Sapphire (GBA) - Any% - 2:45:00 to be totally safe

Pokemon Leaf Green (GBA) - Any% - 2:40:00 or E4R2 - 5:00:00 or so

Streets of Rage 2 (MegaDrive/Steam) - Any% Hardest - 1:00:00

Sonic 2 (MegaDrive) - Any% - 25:00

Stuff I can run:

Darkwing Duck - NES - 15:00 (ok, maybe 20:00 to be safe :P)
Chip 'N Dale - NES - any% - 12:00, or all levels - 15:00
DuckTales - NES - 15:00

Mega Man - NES - 30:00 (with glitches)
Mega Man 2 - NES - 35:00 (with glitches)
Mega Man 5 - NES - hopefully 45:00 by that point Tongue

I can also put some time into Little Nemo (NES) if people want to see that

As ThaRixer is running Jak 2 and Jak 3; I would like to run Jak 1.
However it would be 100% so I would estimate sub 2:35 to be safe. Also it would be 100% because that is the category I run.
And if there is interest i could run Tomb Raider: Legends, but i will need to practice it a lot more, so I can't say a solid time for it, but definitely sub 2 hours.
Edit: Both PS2.

Magical. Flying. Bathtub
I can offer the following right now bearing in mind I already did the first 4 at ESA so it depends if people want to see any of them again:

James Pond 2 - Megadrive/Genesis - 35:00 any%
Batman: Arkham Asylum - Xbox 360 - 2:15:00 easy mode any%
Batman: Arkham City - Xbox 360 - 1:40:00 hard mode any% (with more time on top of that if I do donation incentives for Catwoman, sidequests, etc)
Mega Bomberman - Megadrive / Genesis (although Footbigmike informs me I can get Bomberman '94 on Wii VC which is basically the same game with better graphics and no lag!) - 45:00 VC
Sonic Spinball - Megadrive/Genesis - 30:00
Pac-Mania - Megadrive/Genesis - 20:00
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine - Megadrive/Genesis - 15:00 Hardest

Stuff that needs more practice but I'm happy to offer for July if there's interest:

Chaos Engine - Megadrive / Genesis - 30:00 Co-op with Dylan
Toki (Genesis) - I am still yet to sub-hour that but I'm close
I would also offer Great Giana Sisters for the Amiga but I suspect that I'd have to emulate it so not sure if that would be right for the marathon. any% with warps is 10 minutes though.
Point Blank Quest Mode for PS1 is a possibility but that depends on being able to get a Guncon on a plane and over to Sweden (or borrowing one when I get there?) 2:00:00 is the estimate atm though.
Earthworm Jim - MegaDrive / Genesis - currently 40:00 normal mode can prob get this down to 35mins
Ristar PS2 Gems version (I'm pretty sure all versions are identical though) - 35:00 for any%, 40:00 for 100%
Metal Gear Solid - PS1 - Currently 1:30:00 but pretty sure I can make it a reliable 1:15:00
Abe's Oddysee - PS1 - Currently 1:15:00 for any% and 1:45:00 for 100% or 100% Bad Ending
Spyro 2 Race again.  I will do a LOT more practice for this one if it happens though...
To clarify, I'm offering ANY of the above, NOT all of the above - just saying that now because last year I offered a list of games I was willing to run, got all of them, and overestimated the amount of time I'd actually have to practice.  It depends on what people would want to see and I'll focus on those games, considering there are only 4 months left!
Infinite Combo
Mega Man X
Any% / 100%
40 min estimate for both.

Mega Man X2
Any%
45 min Est.

Mega Man X3
Low% / 100% / Low% XC (Needs a Modded PS2/US PS3 40GB / US PS2)
50 min / 1h  / 35 min

Ninja Gaiden II
Any%
20 Min
(if Duckfist comes, you can just ignore this lol, better let the champ play. unless I get good enough to race.)
Iha paska
GTA III (PC) Any% SS,  1:45 including setup and luck.
Same estimates as AGDQ since mistakes can cost quite a bit of time.
A fast time would be 1:25.

Could possibly try GTA:VC if I get more motivated to practice it a lot more to get it ~10min faster.
PC Any%, 2:10~ estimate (with setup), a fast time would be around 1:50.

Both are heavily RNG dependant.

Like I said on Nintendo-Records

Sonic 2 any% - Estimate 30 min. I'd love to do a race with Tiberius, but I do think an estimate of 25 is very unsafe considering most impromptu runs are 24-27 minutes. Just look at AGDQ13 ;). GC

Sonic 3 & Knuckles Sonic any% - Estimate 1 hour. This is an unusually brutal category and could land on anything between 45 minutes to 1 hour. I will practise a lot more in the coming months though and work to get my average to perhaps 50 minutes or below. GC

Any equipment for this I will bring myself.

Is there anyone to bring a 3DS capture device? If so, I'm inclined to do a run of Sonic Generations 3DS. I just recently got the game so I have no clue how long it would take, perhaps about 45 minutes? Either way, I'm finding doing IL's on this pretty fun so I'm reserving it for now and then we'll see how far I get with it in the coming months.
