Trying to record and play on different drives did not do the trick (minor improvement though). Recording at "half-size / 60 fps" with Fraps lets the game run fast enough. I encoded with anri-chan and had a nice quality... guess it's time to record the real run now.

Coming soon ! .. I hope.
29:22? Roll Eyes
its a great speedrun. I never ran so fast with my pc. Even I have only about 6-7 gb left and so many records for being recorded Sad
Anyone going for a run?
Yes I am. Currently trying to record my best. Feel free to record one too though. Smiley
what's up with your run ?
Definately not that easy... A segmented run would be easier, but I want to do the complete one.

Anyway I'm not giving up, hopefully I'll get it up next week as I take a one week holiday.

hello guys,

I really don't know if anybody is still intereseted in a Speedrun of this game anymore (..and I don't have Access to XBLA Leaderboards) but I just finished recording a Braid run with 28:35 on the game timer (PC version).

If there's anybody interested in it, I could post it on youtube within the next week.

It would be even better if someone who ran the game himself could have a look at it and tell me if it's submittable in his actual state (since after watching it again I think it's "full of" tiny ugly mistakes and a single rather big one) or even if there are better ways to solve the puzzles.

I hope there's anyone recognizing this.
hey ralle32,

i think the community is still interested in seeing seeing this. As i once tried to do this game to speedrun but failed due to time, win7 unstabilites and lack of discipline, i will be able to see if this run is legit and submittable. If you are interested we can also work on some improvements if you want. Just tell me how you are on that deal!
yeah that would be very nice. I'm still interested in time savers i don't know of. I just dont have the time to post it today since it's 10:30 pm here, but i guess i'm going to up it within the next days. what times did you achieve running this and does 28:35 sound good to you ?
we have lift off
I'm definitely interested in seeing this. 28:35 sounds decent for PC, but if you post it we can give you proper feedback. How much work did it take you to get this?
Why does it sound "decent for pc" ?

As far as i know the only difference between versions is a single rabbit jump you cant do on pc.
I don't really know about Xbox times though !? If they're way better than 28:35, i can already say that this run just doesnt do it.

Anyway it took about one year overall, which includes some months of pausing, but i didn't really plan to ever submit it, so i wouldn't describe it as real work on the speedrun. I just ran for fun and since I discovered the huge timesaver in the very last level just a few months ago i decided to give it a serious try again.
difficult and stupidly random
My interest is piqued.  I sincerely hope that a post on youtube is forthcoming.
I just uploaded the first part of the run. For further Information you could read the comments. Sadly i don't have time to upload the other parts since I have to go to work now, so I have to upload the other parts this evening (+6hrs from now).

I'll post the link anyway. Suggestions are welcome, but please don't comment on the bad puzzling skills here ;]  (btw I'm using german language if you're wondering ;]):

I recommend turning off the sound on this one since youtube fucket it up (i don't know why it worked for the first part)
for further information read the youtube desciption

I thought you couldn't do the ladder glitch on pc either? Obviously there's not a vast difference but the ladder glitch saves some good time.
nah, ladder glitch works as you can see in the video. Don't know about this rabbit jump anyway. I've never seen someone do it in the PC-version.
well, despite the fact anyone (except myself?) is interested in the run: I discovered some new (at least new to me) timesavers, so I'm going for a sub 28 now. anyway my most important question remains unanswered: could anyone tell me what the records for xbla/psn are please ? I would really appreciate it.

There are times in these threads:

ye that's right, it's just that one of them is THIS thread and the other is pretty outdated. thanks for your help anyway.

yeah, well, you're asking for help finding times, and you don't seem to be doing any research on your own to build a table of times. I'm sure most people have moved on to other games by now, so you're not going to get a lot of people swarming here to see someone not provide a run again.

Did you check this out as well: http://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/braid__world_6_cascade__the_way_it_wasnt_meant_to_be_done.html

Good luck.

For what it's worth, I was very impressed with the 28:35 you posted.  Your execution was tight, and there are a lot of very unintuitive things to memorize in this game.  I wish I could offer you route suggestions, but it seems that you already know all the speed tricks that I've come across.
we have lift off
As Zenic said, a fair few people have now claimed they would do a run of Braid yet they all gave up for whatever reason. I'm not saying you will do the same, but a lot of people may just ignore this until the run is done, instead of hoping it will be.

The run was very good though, shame the audio is totally messed up for parts 2 and 3 though, don't know what's up with that.
Thanks for your answers guys. Now that's something I can work with.

Zenic: I think you misunderstood me. I just wanted to know what the record times for psn & xbla arcade are at this time since i don't have access to these platforms, so I would be happy if someone would look it up for me who has access - i just want something to compare to. I DON'T want to have a time table because I can't do it myself or something.

Anyway: yes, I know about this trick. I think it's just too dangerous to do in a single segment since it simply is too dangerous. If you fail only once you'll most likely lose time compared to the safe route.

Besides: I wasn't being ironic if you thought that, I was actually happy you answered.

Xbox 360 says:
Full game - 27:54:08
Leap of Faith - 52.75
Phase - 22.73
Jumpman - 29.03
Crossing the Gap - 28.47
Impassable Foliage - 55.85

Strange that the leaderboards for these games aren't in a easily findable list online.
yeah i think that it's strange too. Very big thanks to you ! 27:54 is an extremley good time though ;/ too bad there isn't a video of it. I'll see if I come anywhere close to it, sounds quite perfect.
