Update to implement some of the recently discussed requests:

- added: a global hotkey enabled/disabled indicator on the detailed mode title bar (only visible if a "Toggle Global Hotkeys" key is set)
- added: option (on by default) to remember window positions between sessions (will not restore position if it would cause the window to be entirely offscreen)
- added: option to manually specify the exact width of detailed mode
- added: option to automatically load the most recent file on start
- added: detailed mode width is now saved with run files

download link: WSplit 1.3.2 (new link is a folder which will always contain the most recent version, the icon pack as a separate download, and a subfolder with old versions)

Hopefully this addresses those requests adequately.
I'm kinda sad the black background is gone cause now I gotta chroma key the grey one out with xsplit. Maybe "plain background" mode could have a black background

Also when I hit next split, the transparent background on my icons become solid black which is kinda distracting. I think it's cause you're doing some sort of desaturation on the icon and it doesn't know how to deal with transparency.

it would be really really nice if all the different colors were customizable (all of them!! background & text)

other than that all the new stuff is really cool Smiley

Wodanaz, I just wanted to say thanks again.  In my first run using your software, I beat my in-game time record by 4 seconds and my real-time record by 9 seconds.  You rock.

Quote from Wodanaz:
Thanks. This is actually the first thing I've done in C#/.NET. Hopefully it's not too shoddy (I spent a decent amount of time trying to optimize the paint function since it runs up to 100 times per second).

Now that you've got a little UI design with Windows Forms under your belt, I'd recommend learning Windows Presentation Foundation.  It's just so much more functional than Forms, and once you get the hang of XAML it's just so easy to deal with.  For instance, when you place buttons, listboxes, and other elements using the designer, that stuff is placed into a separate XAML file with a markup language like XML, and you have a different file where you can declare members and handle events and such.  I just always hated having a large Forms project and the first 2000 lines were just declarations of the UI elements; WPF addresses this.  You can also group different UI elements together into custom controls, treating them like single object instances.

You can also develop really cool animations for WPF applications using Microsoft Expression, essentially enabling storyboards, timelines, and layers, kind of like Flash (however, it has a really steep learning curve and little documentation)

Edit: I recommend this WPF book, it's amazing.

i also miss the old plain black background. maybe you can have an option for what background to use or similar?

Thanks for making some of the changes.  Things work nicely!  I appreciate you making those little changes - it makes a big difference. Smiley

I did indeed forget to copy the alpha channel, sorry about that, I just failed to notice it in testing since I didn't use transparency on any of my icons. Fixed it and will update soon.

I think I'll just throw in an "Extra Plain Background" button or something and see how it goes. Remember, the old version is still up if you prefer it, but I'll try to please everyone where possible.

I've had it under consideration for a while but it's been back burner as long as there were bigger things to tackle. If things stabilize for a bit then I can work on doing that for you next time I have a decent enough chunk of time to invest.
Minor update... again... I hate you guys*

- fixed: lost alpha channel (transparency) on desaturated past segment icons
- added: "black background" option

all the visual upgrades are just icing on the cake for me, but the good thing is that the timer is running accurately for me now. Keep up the good work! Smiley

Question - where are preferences being stored?  I ask because every time I change versions, all the preferences are gone.  Maybe having things saved in a .ini file would make it easier for those keeping up between versions?

Started making some Icon Packs.  Doubt many will use these, but thought I'd make them anyways.

Castlevania Chronicles - http://www.mediafire.com/?f5c823uwvt0vxf8
TMNT 4 - http://www.mediafire.com/?8551y1b3uouz4hv (There's multiple icon choices for Tokka/Rahzar and Rocksteady/Bebop depending on personal preference.)
Super Mario 2 (USA) - http://www.mediafire.com/?gbwcnav4i84pjpp (Based off of the BS SNES version.  Includes 3 different Birdo colors and a green Triclyde, since there's no Red Version in the sprite sheet.)
Rosenkreuzestilette - http://www.mediafire.com/?hp68q8pqa8181sq (Will work for both Spiritia and Grolla runs.)

okay i love you even more than before now, wodanaz.
keep up the great work:)

Found the solution and this shouldn't happen in the next version.
Made an icon pack for Super Metroid. Still missing Crocomire, and the two Torizos. Lemme know if there should be more added otherwise.

One thing I would of love to have in the futur is a better management of best splits. Let's say I have this:

S1 : 5:00 (Best : 4:55)
S2 : 10:00 (Best : 4:54)
S3 : 15:00 (Best : 4:44)

I play and I get a 4:52 in my S1 but I failed in S2 so I try my run again. It would be cool that my S1 best time would change to 4:52 without changing my best overall time. Right now, I think the only way the best times will change is in a complete run. Right now, I manually change my best times while using the DetailsWindow to see my splits but it would be cool to be automatic or at least having it as a options somewhere.

Thanks again for the timer working great.

You can do this already:

1) Menu -> Track best as... -> Fastest to each split
2) use "Stop" instead of "Reset" between your attempts.

I must have broken it when I was changing stuff. I apologize and I'll fix it and get an update out.

Minor update:

- fixed: bug with changing "track best as" setting
- fixed: "best segment" times not being updated when incomplete runs are aborted with "stop"
- fixed: settings being lost between version upgrades
- added: "restore defaults" button in configure window

I just did a test. Starting position:

S1 : 5:00 (Best : 4:55)
S2 : 10:00 (Best : 4:54)
S3 : 15:00 (Best : 4:44)

I do 4.52 in S1 but failed S2. I want to have now in my timer this:

S1 : 5:00 (Best : 4:52)
S2 : 10:00 (Best : 4:54)
S3 : 15:00 (Best : 4:44)

and not (that's what I'm getting now)

S1 : 4:52 (Best : 4:55)
S2 : 10:00 (Best : 4:54)
S3 : 15:00 (Best : 4:44)

Would be better to have my Best Overall Time to not change and having my Best Segment time to change.
My guess is, as a programmer myself, to flip two variables because my best overall time changes but not the best segment, as it should be.

Sorry I didn't realize you were talking about the "best segment" value previously. After seeing most people in streams forget to hit their splits I gave up on using that value for the most part so that didn't even occur to me, but I'll fix that for you. When it's fixed you'll want to use "Track best as fastest overall". Give me a min.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Take your time it's not a urgent thing.
I didn't made a timer myself because I was lazy so I'll wait no worries Smiley

As a curiosity, you made this in C++?

Updated. You can download the fix from the same link as before. Thanks for pointing out these things.
(Reminder, set "track best as" back to "fastest overall" to achieve what you described)

Seams to be working. Thanks for the fast update very appreciated and cool new design. Time to play some games now Smiley
