OoT Rocks!
Hello everyone, My name is Jordan. I was just wondering if anyone would be willing to help me out with OoT.
I am a person who cannot see, but I can beat most of the bosses and mini-bosses in OoT. I own a genuine copy of this game that I use for boss fighting. I also have project64 and mupen64, which I also use for OoT. despite the fact that I will never be able to actually beat a dungeon, I have still been trying to learn as much about this game as I can(I've been interested in it for years now). I was just wondering if someone who can use mupen64 and is good with OoT, could please do something great for me. if you could please play through this game, creating .m64 files of yourself doing so. I'm not looking for a TAS or to have any speed run tricks executed at all, but rather looking for a completion of all dungeons, including the cumpus/maps in dungeons, without using tricks to skip sections of dungeons. the reason I am looking for .m64 files of someone going through the game, instead of savestates for bosses, is with .m64 files I can actually listen to the dungeon in progress and learn from it. also, .m64 files benafit me more than multimedia recordings because when listening through, if I hear something(a room or a fight of some kind) that I think I might have a chance at beaten, I can make a save state and then try that section. Just because I don't see, doesn't mean that I want to put limitations on myself as to what I can do.

if someone would be willing to do this, can you please kindly let me know either on this topic or by e-mailing jv_erner@hotmail.com. Thanks Kindly, Jordan.

Odd, a blind man who can find this site, type nearly perfectly, plays video games (though I heard a blind dude can kick --- in Soul Calibur II), has OoT "for boss fights", wants the map to be there (even though he can't see it) and expects a video to help him learn the game...

what?

I've never heard of the blind dude who can play SC2, but I did see a video of a blind dude who could play Mortal Kombat: Deception. Thing was, he wasn't good. He could beat people, but only because he was using Scorpion, who was too overpowered in that game (he was and still is too difficult to block against).

EDIT: I remember someone coming on here saying that they have a program that reads ---- off of the site for them. So that might be how he managed to get here and post (although the spelling was bad).

Also, I like the way you guys do the Bigocto battle---amazing how you get behind the stupid thing so quickly.

Oh really? You can hear Link go behind him?
OoT Rocks!
the reason for the map/cumpus is so I can try to get an idea what you have to do in order to get it, not so much actually having it. I know that in jabu-jabu you have to break a bunch of bubbles in a time limit to get the chest with the cumpus. I can clear that room no trouble, just may have trouble locating the chest itself. and I am capable of beeting the following bosses and mini bosses successfully and reliably in OoT:
Queen gohma, Big Octo(I really like that one), Tenticles in jabu-jabu(if that's even a mid-boss), barinade, stalfos in forest temple, ghosts in forest temple(some trouble with the 4th one though), Phantom ganon, Morpha(really like that as well), Bongo-Bongo(some ppl wonder how I do that one because they say it's their weekness), Iron knuckle, Twinrova(my favorite boss), and ganondorf(just learned that one not to long ago). the ones not on this list I hope to get there some day.
So...let me get this straight. You can't get through the dungeons, yet somehow manage to actually fight the bosses? Do you have savestates for the bosses or get someone to help you out? Cause if you have someone to help you, just ask them to lead the way for you while you are the one playing.
OoT Rocks!
you can't hear link go behind him, but when you successfully hit him in the back with your sword it makes a sound, so you can tell you got him. the way you finesh him off so quickly(less than 10 seconds) is how I can tell, and I know you can only hurt him if you attack from behind. and I'm sorry about the spelling, I didn't rn spell check(because I didn't type this up in word), and my Jaws screan reading software has a small amount of trouble with this window. that makes proofreading a bit tuffer(though I try).

You don't have to type a post up in MS Word to have good spelling. Hmm, this might sound mean, but I have a sudden urge to spell words similar to how they sound, but very, very wrong spelling.

EDIT:
Hmm, I just found this in someone's profile:

Please forgive me for getting ahead of you, but I'm just cureous to know what your plans are for the dark link battle. Dark link's life is based on your own, so if you have a max of 10 hearts, you will have to hit him 10 times with master sword/megaton hammer, or 5 hits with biggoron's sword. I would asoom that you would have a lot more hearts than that by the time you reach the water temple, so dark link may be quite a pain. PS: Awsome Big Octo battle

Now isn't that strange? To enjoy the Big Octo battle while being blind. So, you somehow enjoy the battle because you hear the Octo make a sound?

on the computer I have some savestates for bosses. on the n64 my friend managed to teach my mother(through e-mail) how to get to the room in spirit temple with nabooru. the dungeon was already done and saved, but the boss not beaten. everyone said that hitting the chains would be impossible for me, but I prooved them all dead wrong! the chain shooting is easy but shooting whatever it is you have to shoot to get into the boss room is the harder part, but I can still do it. I still need my mother's help at this point to get to the ocarina quest in lost woods where you have to follow the ocarina music for a heart piece(I really like that quest). mom hates going through the forest, but she is a kind person and is willing to do it some times. and I almost have the spirit temple boss root perfect(accept for the final longshot which I take several shots to get it).

Not that this isn't interesting, but what exactly does this have to do with speedrunning?

Nothing, which is why it's in General Chat perhaps?

OoT Rocks!
I actually like fighting(and successfully beating) big octo. I always had an interest in OoT speedruns and how speed runners manage to do things several times faster than most people. there are some bosses that I really like the sound of(Morpha). I am good at fighting that boss and like the sound the water tenticles make. for some bosses like twinrova I use directional sound to locate the boss. the sound gives me the location of the witch that is shooting at me so I don't get hit very often by that boss. and spelling/grammar  was never my strength. some spelling errors can be obvious when Jaws doesn't say the word correctly, and some go unnoticed if it is said correctly. other words are said wrong when spelled correct(like the last name Sherratt) jaws can't say it right but it's correctly spelled.

I guess there are a lot of varying degrees of visual impairment. I go to a school consisting of only visually impaired students. Many of them do have vision(enough to read normal sized print). others have some vision, but it is limited to the point they either need large print or cannot read print at all(those students read braille). others are completely blind. I have no vision, but I can see light---not colour or anything, just whether the lights are on or off. there are a small amount of students in my school that play OoT(one made a deal with me that he would do the spirit temple for me if I would buy him some of the school's famous chocolate chip cookies). I thought that deal was quite reasonable, and the cookies only cost $1.00 for 3 so I went along with that. so that's how I got the spirit temple done for me and am able to fight the boss on my n64. PS: don't mind a little bragging, but how many people do you think get to fly back and forth to school every week? I do! I come home fridays and go back to school on Sondays.
No the Quail is not riding the Q
So which dungeon are you interested in completing?
He's back!
Desyncs happen all the time I would advise either

A: Goto GameFAQS
B: Download and watch TSA's run
OoT Rocks!
I don't think there's one particular dungeon. my dream has always been to actually complete OoT but I've been told by every OoT player I've met that it would be impossible. In fact, it can be hard to proove to some of them that I can beat the bosses---the only way is for them to be watching me beat them live. I have listened to some people beat dungeons and it's interesting. I've also read entire OoT walkthroughs just to kill time, and I can sometimes listen to someone do a room and know which one it is based on the sound(example: the  big chain reaction in dodongo's cavern, and the web breaking in the Deku Tree). this is the reason why I am looking for .m64 files of the game being beaten. but to answer your question about a particular dungeon---I don't think there is one but if I could I would love to be able to do the entire game. I know it sounds stupid but it's always been what I've wanted.

Looks like someone needs a hug!
Perhaps you can 'read' the guide on gamefaqs, and try to complete the game at the same time.  Of course, you'd probably need someone to make sure you are going in the right direction, as even people with vision often miss the ladders, or fall from a narrow ledge.  The major problems I foresee are getting the megaton hammer, navigating the fire-wall maze in the Fire Temple, and the majority of the Shadow temple, as they are mainly sight-based puzzles.

TSA's apprentice? what do you mean by that?
Looks like someone needs a hug!
Mike TSA Damiani was a member here who was 'famous' for his Zelda speedruns.  If you were to study the game with him, not that he's opened an OoT school or anything, you'd beat the game in no time.
How often do people get you to Twinrova at the Spirit Temple? You now have 2 accounts as to how you got there. Once from a friend telling your mom, and another just from a friend.

And going on a plane to school doesn't sound like something that is too great. You get about 2.5 days with your family, then off to school for 4.5 days.
OoT Rocks!
I agree with whoever mentioned the desync problem. I once did twinrova as a .m64 file and I had to deal with the odd one. if you do the game in smaller parts(many short .m64 files, containing regular game saves at the end of each one) instead of one big .m64 file), once done a small part(of corse you have a save state from before you started that section), you reload that save state and then save. play back the .m64 file and redo anything after a desync point. this makes it easier to stop desync before it becomes quite an interruption, because fixing a desync in a 15 minute movie is easier than fixing desync in a 5 hour movie when the desync comes up in the first hour! I have listened to TSA's run many times and it was interesting, but it's not bringing me to anything---with m64 files, I can interrupt it and try any room I wish by making a save state and then playing myself). the tas doesn't help me because it skips dungeons. maybe it's just my bad luck, but I find Volvagia to be the hotspot for desync problems(although that's probably just murfy's law, as volvagia is my least-favorite boss). actually, tied with dodongo. What I find works is: when you load the rom, if you hit record movie about 3-4 seconds before the music would start, then start recording from snapshot, it tends to work out. because the snapshot is created before the point where your files are loaded, it leaves some room for experiment as well.

He's back!
Well here's and .m64 file that completes the game i.e. Guano's TAS, although this isn't in anyway a true representation of what the game is like playing through normally. Like I said eariler watch TSA's Sub 5 run if you want an idea of what was the intended route through the game.

not having much time with my familly because of school is the sucky part. however, Air canada gives out Air miles which can give you free flights if you get enough of them! this is my 6th year at the school so I can take some flights for plesure when I want(I get free flights to go see my dad and go fishing with him!). as for the spirit temple question---back last year I had my friend teach my mom through e-mail how to get to the boss when everything was already done(so she only had to do the chain shooting etc). however, I was only borrowing someone elses OoT game at the time, and when summer came that person continued that file so I didn't have access to spirit temple boss. in the end, I ended up getting my own OoT cartrage(THE LAST ONE IN THE CITY I LIVE IN!), and my step-sisters started playing it. however, they were only at the house for a short visit, and we didn't beat the spirit temple(we had just started kid spirit). My mom tried to follow tsa's run and beat it for me---took her an hour to get one small key and she quit soon after. that's when I made the deal with my friend at school---I'de buy him cookies if he did the temple). he completed the temple for me and saved before the boss. My mom still new the way to twinrova(and soon learned morpha) and was able to take me there. I'm getting better at getting to twinrova, morpha I have no idea how to get to---and more importantly, that Ocarina Quest! My mom learned the way to that and seems to hate it more than the other ones.
