OoT Rocks!
There is an Ocarina of Time thread on the TAS site that is active---what are the new objectives they are trying to complete by making a new Tas? does anyone have an approximate idea when the MM run will be done(the tas).
and what is it that causes them to desync if you aren't doing something ridiculous(like using different plugins to play it than you did to record it or something)?
why do some games desync more than others?
why do some parts of a game desync more than other parts of the same game?
and finally, Why does the ganondorf/castle escape/ganon sequence desync so much?
Thanks.
Existence as you know it is over
The OoT tas will now skip every temple. The MM tas won't be finished for a long time. Games that require the expansion pack desynch more. Parts of a game that are graphically intensive also desynch more.

is the volvagia fight super graphicly intensive? it desinced like 15 times when my friend and I tried to do it. we had to test it after every hit.
if the OoT tas is going to skip every temple, how do they get to the ganondorf battle since you need shadow and spirit temples beaten as well as the bow, arrows and the light arrow.
and how long is a long time? is it more than a year?

Well, im not a zelda player here but all I can say for NON-TAS run (not-tool assisted).
A good run can take up 6 months to 1 years to make.

EDIT: well, when I say from 6 months to 1 years, I'm talking of all the route planning, glitch finding, frustation recording....and I skip a few ones.
That's probably what an OoT run take.
Some one can take less time, Super mario bros one, IE.
As for TASes runs, I really don't know.

Except for the Forest Temple, which will be done in its entirety.

Oh yeah, completely forgot about light arrows.
I'm not THAT bad.
You need the forest medallion to turn into a kid to do bottle adventure, too.
He's back!

Well, I'm positive that the boss key can be skipped.

Hello. I have encountered  some more problems I was wondering if you could try to help me with. when playing MM in Mupen, whenever I try to put on a transformation mask(tried on goron and zora mask) the graphics plugin gives an access violation message.
I remembered reading an emutalk post about the same thing a long time ago, and it was said there that you had to use Jabo's video plugin version 1.5 instead of 1.6.
I tried that and I still get access violation.
I then tried glide64 and I get an error message about my video  card not supporting something(can't remember message now).
Then I tried gln64 and it crashed mupen.
How can I get it so I can use transformation masks without getting error messages?
Thanks kindly, Jordan.

I use Project64 with Jabo 1.6 and it works fine.

I need to use mupen though for the re-recording option. are there any other plugins I can get that might work with a lower end graphics card in mupen?

Odd, a blind man who can find this site, type nearly perfectly, plays video games (though I heard a blind dude can kick --- in Soul Calibur II), has OoT "for boss fights", wants the map to be there (even though he can't see it) and expects a video to help him learn the game...

what?

that blind one...I saw his video on youtube...he was in a talkshow and got the wii before everyone else...that's why i hate him-.- well btw. on this video the teaked to often into the camera...i can't belive that he's blind and plays better SC II then someone else who's not that bad...

I don't know who that is, but that's not me. I don't have a youtube account and I don't have a WII.

OK. Here's proof of how badly I want to do OoT some day. Last night I decided to sit down and play through the deku tree, no matter how long it took and how frustrating it became. Well, within about 45 minutes I had reached the room with a deku scrub and an eye switch. it's that eye that's stopped me abruptly.
anyone have any tips you can give as to the easiest way to shoot at the eye? Example: X number of clicks in X direction and X number in Y direction(on the keyboard). I'm also using savestates to help me so if I fall I can just relode and try again.
Existence as you know it is over
It would depend on where you finish off the deku scrub. Obviously it would be easiest to give you directions if you can just stand still as soon as you enter the room, but then the deku scrub constantly knocks you off-position.
OoT Rocks!
A couple ideas. What if I did it tsa stile. just shoot it but don't hit the deku scrub. though I'd need good speed for that. What I've tried is to not z-targat the scrub but just hold up my shield and hit him. then, instead of chasing him down, I just savestate then and try and hit the eye as the stupid deku scrub is running around. this seems to work because without the targating on I don't seem to get moved much, which I can proove by still being able to find the door I came in without trouble.
Existence as you know it is over
But doesn't the deku scrub return to his original place to fire at you again if you don't hit the eye switch fast enough?
OoT Rocks!
it would, but you would have at least 10 seconds or so. and then there's always hitting the deku scrub again if need be.
Existence as you know it is over
It seems like it would be easier if you just chase down the scrub first to make him shut up and then make a savestate. At least he wouldn't be hitting you all the time while you're aiming.

OoT Rocks!
would I still be able to get the eye? if I do it the fast way where I get the deku without having to chace him, then would I be more likely to find and hit the eye or at least be in good position?
and do you think you can try to give me directions to it?

OK never mind, I got it. I'm now in a room where you have to light a stick from a lit torch and then light the other 2 torches to open the door. can anyone give me some suggestions for that room? I found the lit one but I can't seem to find the other ones.

Guess what?
I got that too.
Now I just can't find the door that leads out of the torch room;I found the ne that leads back to the spike log room but that's not what I wanted. it wouldn't be so hard if the deku babas in the torch room would stay dead.
OoT Rocks!
Hey,
I just did the room where you have to light a stick and burn the web to create a crallspace. I crall in but now can't find the block which you have to push into the water.
can anyone give me any tips that may be of help to me?
If I beat this dungeon, which one do you guys recommend I try next?
Jordan, you are awesome. The fact that you can even reach the deku tree, let alone actually navigate through it, is inspiring.

I would honestly be interested in seeing videos of you beating some of the bosses.

It is amazing to see such determination in someone against such difficulties. Keep it up!

I'm sorry to disapoint you, but at this moment I cannot "Reach the deku tree", maybe that's something to try on another day...nothing says I won't try it. as for bosses, read through my topic to see which ones I can do well...and let me know which ones you would like to see. you can post them to this forum, PM me or e-mail me at jv_erner@hotmail.com
Wow! OoT must rock because Link's treehouse is so awesome!

OoT Rocks!
Hey, I can't believe it...
I've completed the deku tree!
I have the full recording to proove it!
Honest to god, My time is just over 8 min 30 sec!
What I want to do is set myself up a youtube account and youtube this thing but I can't seem to convert the .m64 file into an avi. I get an error message when I start avi capture with some encoders saying "perhaps you've run out of memmory?" or something. other encoders work but the game runs so slow that it would never get done. What's the best way to do this?
I'd love to show people, Sure, there's a lot of re-records, but hey, it's a blind person doing an OoT dungeon!
