Metroid Speedrunning Marathon!!!!

I'M HERE! Sorry, guys. I have been extremely busy with school. Two more finals left. Currently a 4.0. ajdklajflkd;sjfl;

I just sent off my 3DS capture card to get repaired, but it had to be sent all the way back to Japan... so it'll be a while. I'll easily have it back by April/May, though. I would LOVE to participate. I run Hunters. I can't wait to get my 3DS back. ^_^

...He said he would have it by April/May, as in ready in time for the marathon. He would probably get it before then.

I'm not sure if I can give a good estimate until I actually start practicing single segment runs a lot. My segmented run for any%, which uses the same exact route (with about 1 less minute due to cutscenes), will be about 1:17:XX.

Though it sounds like a trash time, I think 1:40 would be a good estimate for a ss run... lol I'll let you know as soon as possible, though. I think I'll have the DS back late January.

Did I say any%? I meant 100%. I would much rather run 100% if that's okay. Same estimate, 1:40 (tentative). It's only a few minutes longer in segmented runs. I like the tricks that some of the expansions require. My segmented time for 100% will be about 1:17:XX once it's finished, not any%. So ya. Same estimate.

A 100% run of Prime 1 is over 25 minutes longer than Any%, the estimate should be 1:55 or 2:00.

This does sound really interesting, however I'm not sure if my schedule will let me join this. The games I run (Zero Mission and Fusion) have plenty of interested runners already anyway. I might be able to do some sort of e-couch commentary?

Sure, if the runners agree on having a person commentating the run for them, then for sure!

Not everyone wants to talk and run at the same time, so we have to respect that so e-couch could be awesome!

How do the runners feel about we use Mumble for this?

mumble should be fine. I also give a big thumbs up to dragonfangs for commentating both fusion and zero mission.

Assuming I'm free, I should be able to commentate for metroid prime 1+2 as well, assuming miles runs those (he should).

We will only need 24 hours + for this, so should we consider a saturday to sunday?

btw, I was thinking we were gonna hold this on the ludendi channel. I know speedrunning has two official channels, sda and ludendi. But SDA does not do online stuff and if we want to get more donations etc, it would be great with an already established channel. Smiley

I should be cool with whatever, but a Saturday into Sunday would work best for me, probably.

At this point, I've done Metroid II on my own enough that I shouldn't need e-couch commentary, but I wouldn't mind if a couple people wanted to join me in a Mumble/ask questions/whatever. Smiley

Pinball takes around 30 minutes to beat in a casual run (that's how fast i did it the last time i played it)

i have a 3DS capture so maybe i could fill that spot. i'd need some practice since i play that game very rarely.

i have a JP Fusion too but i'm very bad at it. i barely subbed 1 hour in easy.

UchihaSasuke, you are the only one that has offered it and it's the only game that we don't have a runner on so we would love it if you would wanna run it. So we finally could get a full Metroid Marathon with all the official games! Smiley

Kirby, I like the idea but it feels like most Metroid runners are more connected socialy with people running games on the same machine then with the franchise. I have asked for a logo from metroid 2002, so we can use that also on the stream alongside SDA, SRL and Ludendi if we want to represent all the different communites metroid runners hangs on!

Edit: What I meant, there is non central hub for Metroid atm Smiley
