Perhaps you can get special permission to submit your run for this game, this is one of my all-time favorite games and would just love to watch it!! Even if you can't put it here on SDA, could you at least record your best run and put it on Youtube?
Too long at 11:30? Blasphemy!
Skies Of Arcadia Legends for GCN (12:09:00)
Although it's understandable if you don't want to do it, it would be submittable to SDA.
I'm the man.......nothing else needs to be said
Final Fantasy X and Skies of Arcadia were allowed to be submitted because the demand and popularity of the games were very high. Legend of Legaia unfortunately is not a game that a ton of people are clamoring for a run of. While it does have a fantastic cult following, I doubt Mike would allow an 11+ hour run for a game thats not all that popular.

If it is allowed however I would love to jump at a run for this, however my trial run was done on an emulator using save states. So an actual console run would take an incredible amount of time, mainly for the first 3 hours of the game. Bosses in the early game are hugely luck based, and the slot machine is pure hell. I'll send Mike a PM to get an official ruling on it but I dont have much hope.
Be sure to mention myself, and whoever else wants to see this run to Mike when you send him a message. thumbsup
Waiting hurts my soul...
Yeah, I don't think the time would be a problem. Mike/Flip are well aware of the time it takes for long RPGs, and I'm really surprised this game got down so low. I'm looking forward to this. Grinding is a big part of most RPGs, but I wonder if all those items are really necessary, or if part of those can be done without. I understand it'd take a while to test. It'd be good to test if you have a hunch of anything that might not give the edge in these battles.
What's the word on this? Any news?
I'm the man.......nothing else needs to be said
Sent Mike a PM havent heard anything back yet however. But I'm still working on improving the run in the meantime, I've actually come up with some possible ideas that if I can pull them off could save me up to an hour off of the total time!
Waiting hurts my soul...
Flip would be the one to contact now, and I'm sure Mike is busy with marathon related stuff still. He's usually tied up until the end of January because of coordinating the 100+ prizes being shipped.
I got Mike to reply to your PM, he didn't say what was said..hope it was good news. I want to seeee thissss! Cheesy
I'm the man.......nothing else needs to be said
Well I just read Mike's response............................

(pause for dramatic effect)

He said its a go! So I'm going to continue working on my trial runs and see how far I can get this game down to with some of my new strat's ive come up with in just the past week or so. Then get final routes and strategies planned and destroy this game in the way only SDA can!
I'm the man.......nothing else needs to be said
And this is why I wanted to do another couple of test runs, I don't want to spoil it yet, but I have come up with a new boss strategy for the 2x Viguros that will definitely save me some time and is actually not much more difficult then my current strategy.

I'm only just getting to West Voz in my trial #2 but things are looking even more promising on this run
Update!
I'm the man.......nothing else needs to be said
Update: I finished another trial run, I will now be doing my final test run of the game. However this time I will be streaming this run, my channel has already been set up at the streaming board. I'm not 100% sure when I will be running this, but I will be on fairly regularly running either this or Azure Dreams.
MY testrun TAS. I'm learning a lot. I'm up to Noa now.
Most of the work in the run so far is manipulating the random battle counter. 3 random battles so far as Vahn. We will see how Caruban goes.. I honestly don't know if I can beat him without tornado flame or gimard. Plans for now are grinding point card in the slots game up to the amount I need for the rest of the game. You said the point card can't be used against the Delilas' ? That might be a problem. I might be able to get to Caruban tonight.
Ryuken ran away, so I'm glad that someone is doing something with this game. I can't wait for the finished product, good luck exile!
Drake Castle to Golem: TASvideos thread: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7355
I spent about 18 hours today on and off doing that 3rd segment. I guess it isn't today anymore. Will be a few more days before I start testing Caruban. Probably Thursday if I didn't burn myself out.
I'm new here but boy am I glad to see this game get some love. Now if only I had a working Playstation.... I can't wait to see exileUT's next videos. They'll be sure to provide great help for my own runs. One thing I'm wondering is if it will be worth it to power level Gimmard for the eventual -20% to enemy ATK effect on bosses (And later the Seru that decreases enemy DEF as well). Thoughts?

Ciento Dos Huevos
Here's to hoping this isn't a segmented run.  Any monkey can do those.  Love this game and it deserves a single segment.

From the looks of it you either suffer the curse of a million segments and reloads or you gain several hours in battles (But not necessarily much grinding). Here's to seeing exileUT's next TAS video for inspiration.

Edit: There is a glitch that has come to my attention that might be worth investing in, but I'd like to get a confirmation its allowed before I bother testing it. Apparently during the period of time when you regain control of Vahn on Mt. Rikoua, the enemy Gobu can steal items that are in Noas inventory despite you not having access. This couple with the fact that it doesn't remove them from the inventory that is saved for Noa means you can repeatedly get that item stolen and then get it back for Vahn, duplicating it. Conveniently Noa gets both a Power Water and a Guardian Water, each giving a permanent +4 Atk or Def respectively. Would abusing this to create a super Vahn be allowed? Not sure how much time it would take to get reasonable returns vs saving time during the rest of the game.
Weegee Time
It's a glitch that happens within the confines of the game so I don't see what would be wrong with it.  If you're looking for precedence, I know the Ogre Battle 64 run uses item duping and I imagine there are others as well.  If it makes the run faster, I say go for it.  I can't remember how big a different +4 Atk/Def makes though.

Well the best weapons in the game give +99 to attack so each Power Water is worth 4% of the best weapon so you'd need ~25 waters to reach it. However after wasting some time i find that the Gobu doesn't steal often enough to make it worth it (Let alone steal the damn Water).  Hrm... I wonder if there are any other place you can farm Waters early...

The more pertinent question is is it worth it?  I don't imagine you're going to be dropping or stealing those items very often.

I skimmed over the end section of the FAQ linked in this thread, and found this interesting little thing:

Hint: Raising magic level:
Use the following steps to raise a character's magic level by 10%. When you go
to Vidna to see Pepe, after saving Jeremi, equip one of your characters with
Yuma's Ring. Do not remove it. When you go back to see Zalan, he takes the
ring, but the increase of magic that the ring gave you becomes permanent.
