I dont have any recording equipment yet, so for now I am limited to planning and test runs. I'll probably start looking into cheap recording options either later this month or next month.

Want my List of Photos that you should take for Chapter 1 (During the photo spree)?
Edit history:
HavokMoobii: 2012-01-27 03:03:10 pm
Inventions help more that photos, I know where everything is.

Looking at your optional stuff on the previous page I would definitely skip Barrel Pack, Knight Boots, and all the body upgrades. Since I am planning on segmenting 3ish floors at a time instead of full chapters I can reasonably keep Steve from taking any damage and just refuel whenever the game has me walk past Cedric. Once I get a decent leg, probably propeller, I can do full levels with Steve, only dismounting for Geostones. At that point I'll almost certainly want a beefier energy pack. I dont need the boots, the only things that I will ever collect ABS for are core upgrades and the chapter 7 Supernova.

For weapon planning I know I want to invent a Barrel Cannon in Chapter 2, a Samurai Arm in chapter 3, and that getting the Bandit Coin for the Barrel Cannon IV is going to SUCK(especially considering I need 2 of them)... not much planning has been done past there.

Also with what I have done so far, outside of SS I don't really see money ever being a problem.

Sorry I dont really have anything to share for progress. Its been a hectic month.
Ok so I have started working on this again and have planned and tested up to defeating Gaspard at the end of Chapter 3. I also have all the Georama areas planned out.

Some notes so far..

You need 3500 Gilda worth of loot just to get everything from Jurak Mall - 1500 if the game is kind enough to give you one of Donny's coins - 3000 if you have stupid good luck. Money seems to get a lot easier after that though.
Not getting a Roasted Chestnut before Rainbow Falls is a reset. This seems to be about 50/50 for me so far.
Many of the Geostones are skippable. I knew this from the start, but still... Hell Yay
Tores suck.
Masked Tribesmen+Ram combo sucks if you had to sell the Cannonball arm to get the coins.
Phantom Memo Eater is the toughest boss in the game(lie)
Gaspard can be killed with 8 Improved Bombs, but I would take atleast 10 in to be safe.
The only residents you need to beat the game are: Gordon, Adel, Ferdinand, Parn, Bruno, Donny, Claire, Cedric, Borneo, and Gerald. Everybody but Gerald will be recruited before the end of chapter 3.
I am really leaning towards doing this Single Segment.

The general plan so far is..
Chapter 1: Kill with Max up to Linda, then start running up to baddies with Max and Ridepoding them down.
Chapter 2: Same as second part of Chapter one. Kill the Turtles in the Monica stage with whatever explosives I have on hand. Invent and Equip Barrel Cannon for Rainbow Butterfly.
Chapter 3: Run in range with Max, Barrel Cannon for the kill. At this point in the game I will probably start picking up ABS for Core upgrades so I can equip the Barrel Cannon III after the Finny Frenzy opens up and possible energy pack upgrades.

Eventually I'll probably invent a Propeller leg and try to use Steve most the time. The current plan for weapons is to use the Barrel Cannon III up until late Moonflower Palace and then build up an invented Steal Gun into a Supernova for the final bosses.

One thing that im not sure about yet is throwing rocks for fuel vs going to Cedric every few floors and repairing. I will be making several trips to Cedric whenever he is in my path, but outside of that I need to decide how to handle keeping the Ridepod going. If I take the time to toss some rocks as I quest I can get some free Repair Powder, which is very helpful, but if I get bad luck with rocks it could potentially waste a lot of time. Making a lot of unplanned trips to Cedric can be very time consuming too, especially after chapter 5.

I'll post more as I figure it out.

Alright so after replacing my disc and saving over my test file twice... I have planned and tested up to the Chapter 5 intro.

Few notes
-The White Seal level after Shingala, "Wandering Zappy" is very very dangerous. It has 10 Elementals and 6 Goyones. A run could very easily end here.
-Even skipping a ton of upgrades Max is very durable even in Chapter 4. I am only grabbing Potato Pies and Fruit of Eden that are in my path and using them all only on Max.
-Using Cedric well >>>> Ridepod Fuel luck. Atleast up to Jaming.
-I need to test this, but im pretty sure just one core upgrade will be sufficient to use Barrel Cannon III. Even if its not, Chap 4 is about the point where mobs start dropping TONS of Exp.
-I lied when i said most residents will be recruited by the Chapter 3 intro. ALL of them will be.

My biggest problem right now is the Finny Frenzy. Every time I have played through this game it has been available as soon as I entered the floor with the scene, but in this run I made it to Chap 5 and still no FF. I never messed around much with the fishing in this game outside of collecting medals, but from how I understand it the Fishing Contest starts on whatever day you trigger the scene and the FF will always be 7 days after that first day. The last test run was really really bad, so next time I'll see what day the Contest lands on and I'll speed up game time if necessary to get the FF to line up. I really don't want to go into Chapter 5 with just the basic Barrel Cannon..

Money is still pretty tight in Chapter 3. I need two Seal Breaking Scrolls to get through Elephant Army in the Valley. I'll probably just end up adding a bomb trip to be safe.

Edit: Likely going to recruit Pau and use him from chapter 5 on. Having him as your 3rd party member gives you a free map of every floor, Mimic detection, and most importantly.. Gate Key Monster detection! The monster that has the key will be a blinking dot on the map so I only need to kill one enemy per floor from Chapter 5 on. To recruit Pau I need a Carrot. These drop from Molers, Crescent Barons, and Sand Molers. I have to kill up to 8 Sand Molers anyway and killing a few of the other mobs as I see them wouldn't be too time consuming for the reward.
Gimme some sugar Shaggy!

A Note for the 2 Forced Monica Battles before Gaspard: I suggest using Improved Bombs for the mobs >> Make the run segmented, open up the save, if the first enemy you bomb doesnt drop the key, restart
Gimme some sugar Shaggy!
That way you only NEED 10 Improved Bombs to get you through Chapter 3, although 12 would be advised

I actually never considered buying the Gold Paint. What I have been doing is restoring the branch and the mushrooms and just inventing the Barrel Cannon instead of collecting ABS. The 5 Thorn Trees and the Fence cost 860 Gilda + The 400 for Barrel Cannon. The Paint is 1000 Gilda right? That would save 260 in chapter 2 and add 340 to chapter 3, which I don't need until after the majority of the dungeon. I'll try that out on my next test run, thanks.

Quote from deathfire123:

Monica has a sealed level in every dungeon, effectively 2 in chapter 3. My current plan is to get 12 bombs from Erik, 4 for 2-3 and 8 for Gaspard. After that im just buying Seal Breaking Scrolls for each Monica floor. I might add an extra bomb trip to afford those scrolls though. Clearing Elephant Army probably isn't an option. The only problem with the Scrolls is that they don't permanently break the seal and I have to use two for Elephant Army.

Like I said before im planning on running SS and Polly could be an interesting backup if I don't get a Roasted Chestnut in the forest. The crunchy bread could be really useful for healing in later chapters, but it would add 420 to a super tight chapter if I do restore Mushroom Burgers plus the time it takes to move Adel out and Polly in and make an extra trip to Jurak Mall. I think its probably better to just reset if I don't get the chest drop, but I might just recruit Polly anyway for the bread. The only time it would add is talking to both her and Norton and a quick move back to the middle of Palm Brinks after getting Adel.

I am currently half way through Chapter 7 on my super casual test run. So far the only big problem has been the Finny Frenzy, which I still need to get sorted out. After I finish the game I'll do another test run to clean up the route and then I'll share what I have.

One last thing. If you are still working on this the gate key monsters listed for 3-4 and 4-8 are wrong. 3-4 is a Thunder Gemron and 4-8 is a Zappy.

What I do for Heim Rada is get the Iron Chimney 2 Geostone and build Veniccio so that by removing just 2 Piers I can instantly pick up 3 of the houses, the pots, and the Pot torch. I then use all that for Heim Rada since you have to rebuild Luna Lab anyway to get the Ixion. Also you can get away with just 15 pots if you stack them right.

Edit2: Another quick edit to share my invention list since you mentioned it earlier.
Chapter 1: Energy Pack. Aquarium(Make in Chapter 4)
Chapter 2: Barrel Cannon, Bell Trigger
Chapter 4: Barrel Cannon III
Chapter 5: Steal Gun
Chapter 7: Soul Breaker, Heavy Hammer, Jet Hover

Edit3: Alright just beat Dark Element.. some notes.
-Only getting the convenient Fruit of Eden maxed out Max's health with 2 to spare, so I need to drop 2 of them from the route. Theres one I get in Luna Lab that can definitely go and I think theres also one in Gundorada Workshop that was pretty bad too.
-Even with max health and a ton of pie Griffon phase 3 is scary
-Its probably a small waste of time, but atleast for this run I really liked sacrificing Monica and Steve to Dark Elements ultimate attack. A little bit of revenge for all the trouble they caused me.. Especially Monica.
-I will almost definitely recruit Polly just for the bread and I might buy a stack of Chicken from Ferdinand at the end.
-Jokers are super weak to Steve so I'll probably kill them on sight for ABS

not much to say other than that. I'll be doing a second more serious test pretty soon and then I'll post the route.

Fun Fact: The longest and most difficult dungeon is the only one that gets every floor cleared in a single rush.

3-4 and 4-8 arent wrong for me, it's Wind Gemron and Shiva when I played

Are you not making any other Energy Packs? Also, making more Georama is much faster than removing and replacing stuff from Veniccio
Edit history:
HavokMoobii: 2012-04-02 04:30:23 pm
Thats strange. Those are the enemies listed on gamefaqs, but when I tested it I cleared them all out and no key. In the next test I went straight for the enemies I said and they had it.
Quote from deathfire123:

It takes 2 seconds to pack up Veniccio and I have to go there anyway to recruit Pau. Doing that also saves money and there are a lot of pricey things I need before chapter 7. For the Energy Pack I really dont want to, but probably will have to. In the run I just did I actually forgot to snap a photo of the firehouse so I couldn't invent Jet Hover, and Steve made it through all 25 floors without a problem, but if im riding around with the Jet hover then I probably will have to refuel once or twice. The Nice thing about the Supernova strat is that even if something happens to Steve I can still clean up a level just fine with Max without losing much time.

Edit: Just ran up to Rainbow Falls Entrance. I actually had bad enough luck with gate keys to get the Barrel Cannon right after Fish Monster Swamp. Having a ranged Ridepod weapon makes the second half of the dungeon sooo much safer and faster. I also got a Carrot off of a Moler that was right next to a Pumpkin Head. It seems like they are fairly common drops so thats good.

I'll probably play this run up to right before Balance Valley Georama and then do a Georama test on a completed file(with 80,000 Gilda :)) to update my shopping lists. Then I can work on consistently getting the damn Finny Frenzy to start when i need it to.
#Casual
Oh, I'm pretty sure I had the same problem with those levels.  I think gamefaqs was just wrong on those same levels.
Gimme some sugar Shaggy!
Ill work on the Georama and find the absolute quickest and cheapest route for each city. I'll also film it and post it on youtube.

Moonflower Palace...
Quote from Rakuen:
Good News: You ARE required to get 100% on the Chapter 7 Georama, as far as I can tell.  However, you don't need to make every single Georama piece available.  Specifically, you don't need 4 Flower Beds, 1 Silver Bench, 2 Roads, and 14 Petal Streams.  This saves you a little over 2000 Gelda in materials, not to mention the time placing them.  Also, the positioning is pretty loose so long as everything goes in the correct quadrants.  I could make a video or something of my Georama to show you what it ends up looking like.

I already tested this and I was able to get away without those items. Actually I completed all of Moonflower Palace without even touching the Georama(Fountain doesn't count) and I had enough money just from killing mobs to build the entire garden.

What I want to test with the Georama is what all I should break at the start of each chapter and use in a later chapter. I have some Ideas already. Such as the Pots being used for the clay in Jet Hover or the River in Sindain becoming a Barrel Cannon III.

Gimme some sugar Shaggy!
Wooden Houses are Cheaper to make than Straw Houses, I would advise against it
Your right. Looking over the conditions I only needed the Straw House for the Golden Eggs which im skipping now anyway. Nice.
Gimme some sugar Shaggy!
Do explain to me your general process in dungeon levels, do you just pick chests that come by your way while searching for creatures?
Edit history:
HavokMoobii: 2012-04-03 02:05:07 am
Before Chapter 5 I run around as Max getting any chest on my path and killing possible gatekeepers. I run into attacking range as max and kill with Steve. I have all the numbers for each gatekeeper in the route so I can run directly to the exit if I have the Geostone(if needed) after killing the last mob that can drop it. In Chapters 2 and 4 I'll be killing enemies for Ridepod exp so I will stand around and wait for them then.

After Chapter 4 my reason for opening chests is less for the loot and more for that chance of getting the Magic Crystal so I know exactly where the gatekeeper is and exactly where the Geostone is. Loot is also still important in Chapter 5 and 6 too. In Chapter 7 I'll kill mobs with Steve then switch to Max to get the abs on the weapons for the steal gun. Once I synth the first two weapons my strat will change to moving into range with Steve, Killing with Steal Gun and then switching to the second Soul Breaker for the ABS.

One big reason for getting every chest in sight other than money is the locked areas. Inevitably in a run going through every floor in the main game I am going to get stuck with an enemy behind one of those gates.

Edit: I always risk locked chests. If it needs a key I will trigger the trap and if its pick a trap I always choose exploding.
Gimme some sugar Shaggy!
Thats what you should ALWAYS do with trapped chests. If its exploding, you lose the chest if you dont guess exploding
Yup Yup. I guess that was pretty obvious, but still worth mentioning.

Heres my first completed route. Keep in mind that I still need to test getting the Finny Frenzy to line up right and I have no idea how good of a Core I need for both Barrel Cannon III and Jet Hover, probably the 4th one.. I'll check tomorrow. Otherwise feel free to blast it apart. Whenever I say to buy something the number in parentheses is how many minimum I should have and its 0 if there is none. With the current shopping plan The only planned items I would have at the end of the game is 2 Sugar Cane, everything else gets used somewhere.

Pay better attention to my Repair Powder and food supply!!!!
Open all chests in sight, in first 2 Chapters go out of your way for them
A Roasted Chestnut from Chapter 2 is absolutely required
Claire can be recruited during any trip to Palm Brinks, if she is not on the train before Elephant Army, Recruit her at the Cafe by moving to Palm Brinks Station and exiting it after getting the scroll
A Carrot is needed from a Sand Moler, it seems to be a fairly common drop and I need to collect ABS anyway
4 Hunter Crystals and 2100 Ridepod EXP are needed for the end of Chapter 4
Also save Destruction Crystals(up to 10) and Power Crystals(2), especially after Chapter 3
Ridepod needs a better core before Chapter 7 I need to check exactly what it needs
Level Steal Gun to +3 in MFP
As soon as the following items hit level 5 Synth the listed materials to them and synth them to Steal Gun

Gimme some sugar Shaggy!
Well I have a question: What do you do when Dark Element uses his "Anti-Max" shield and forces you to use Monica?
I have no choice but to wait. It seems like he switches every 5-30 seconds. The Supernova kills him so fast I only need 2-3 Max phases.
Gimme some sugar Shaggy!
Why do you make 2 Soul Breakers and what are they for?
