I finished run with 06:41 time, what you think about?
I don't know doesn't the time end when you land the final hit on the shadow queen if so it should be about 6:30 or so

No it doesn't.

Honestly, the time can be improved by a pretty decent amount; I did a test/practice run a while ago that was on track for sub-6:20. (I never finished Chapter 8; I was at 5:24 after Chapter 7, though, and Chapter 8 took 56 minutes in a test run that I finished with 6:33. Combining the two would be 6:20, and I'm sure I would have done better than the 6:33's Chapter 8.)

Have you looked at my route I posted earlier in the topic? This is generally what I did for the would-be sub-6:20, so I would look at it if you plan on improving.
@Miles: Yes, that looked great. I can starting to improving this, I'll follow your route really closely.
Sub-6:20 is very possible, I'm sure about that.

Yoshi's eggs are at my mercy!
I don't feel comfortable posting opinions and reaction towards your speedrun Samura1 until I finish watching your current work-in-progres in full. Unfortunately, I'll procrastinate this post into infinity if I wait until something formal like that. So, with that in mind (I've only watched to segment 8) here's what I got:

Even though Thousand-Year Door is a tedious game to speedrun with complicated routes and unforgivably specific optimized battle strategies I still find the small mistakes (missing blocks, jumping in front of doors, etc.) a little annoying to watch. Though, for every time one of those happens, I can bring up a moment I was genuinely impressed such as your optimization during the Thwomp's (spelling?) Quiz in Chapter 1, or using your hammer (as opposed to jumping on) to hit the second blue switch to trigger the pipe to Boss 1's castle in Chapter 1. But what really irks is the sub-10 minute segments that don't feature either 100% Block (or whatever A-Button action commands are called) action commands or SuperBlock (or whatever it's called when the B-Button action command negates offensive damange and deals 1 damage back).

It's borderline genuine criticism and nit-pickyness, but this is an improvement to an existing run. Being excited about simply having a speedrun for Thousand-Year is already been accomplished. IMO, the next step is the truly deserving polished, flawless (or close to it) executed speedrun. You (and Miles! <3) have that potential. I won't give a final verdict, because, again, I haven't completed it. But I thought you would like more reception. Smiley

BTW, Miles, just reinstalled Office and am finally able to see your route you posted forever ago. Dude, that's a beautifully optimized route. Now I'm even more sad that I'm not gonna be able to see you make my vagina moist with pleasure at some point in the future on SDA's cover page. Sad
^ Even though you haven't completed it you make important notes about the small mistakes and I agree with you completely. Although nobody sanity can do the segments perfectly, it still makes a big effect on the viewer when you constantly jump in front of doors etc. Plus, it doesn't slow down much at all but it looks annoying.

I also downloaded Miles' route and so far have completed the first  7 Segments. They all have many fails but I'll link my video here as well:

Yoshi's eggs are at my mercy!
Oh, also, Samura1, I believe you never did that trick during the first playable section as Peach where she takes the shower -- the shower isn't necessary. You can enter the bathroom then immediately exit afterward and not waste 30+ seconds visualizing Peach nude (though I'd do it even if it wasn't necessary anyway ;P).

So ... am I looking at your attempt to speedrun TTYD as well? As in, confirming this to be a 3-way ... 2.5-way (I'm still hoping Miles reconsiders doing it!) race?!

Also, on an unrelated note, I love how everyone is going nuts with the time-limit lifted from YouTube now. It's awesome. I plan to finally upload a bunch of SDA Marathon 2010 footage now that I don't have to edit it like crazy. Cheesy
The hell? The time limit's lifted? That was like the only reason I wasn't going to upload my XD segments to youtube.

Oh man, that's great news. Also, if by any odd chance I finish XD and no one's finished this yet, I would be interested in picking it up, but finishing XD could take a while.

Definitely love this game, its one of my favorites of all time. I've attempted to run it before, but that didn't go so well. Regardless, big "good luck" wishes to whoever is going for the record, and I'll be anticipating a final product with great anxiety.
Only if you have zero copyright strikes.

No, that is not correct. Who exactly who has had their limit removed and for what "reasons", I dunno, but I know this is false.
Ya, I don't know the rules, but I have 0 strikes (I haven't been on long enough to get any) and I still have a time limit.
Youtube's official statement is that they will “begin allowing selected users with a history of complying with the YouTube Community Guidelines and our copyright rules to upload videos that are longer than 15 minutes.”

So I'm guessing your account must be of a certain age without having any strikes. I got my time limit removed, but my account is pretty old.
Well, that's funny. I have a copyright infringement from an evil company™ due to invoking fair use, yet my limit is removed.
Still, it's not like I upload copyrighted videos on a daily basis, or go against rules.

I started all over to cover the mistakes I had in my run but only got 1 minute faster (to the same point, Chapter 7). Though, chapters 4-7 I got on my first try lolol. I should still improve by a minute or two and I'm satisfied. After that need to waste several weeks for the Shooting Star j/k
Fire Emblem?
Samura, are you planning to redo this run to improve your time? If you are, the very simple suggestion I can make is practice and repeat. Sure, doing the same segment 10 times is boring, but you have 4 save slots; you can do it, and if you cut 15 seconds off each segment through optimisation, firstly, you're saving about 10 minutes, and secondly, both you and everyone else would be even more satisfied with the result.

Of course, following a better strategy is also a huge boon. Good luck, and hope you can get it done. Above everything else, don't rush, if you try and finish the run by a certain date, I guarantee it'd be worse than if you just made the run.

I look forward to seeing what you can do.

Yes, I did yesterday Chapter 1, everything looks great on my eyes, but Hooktail was afwul. My time is 00:55 before The Shadow Sirens.
Today I upload Chapter 1.

EDIT:
Here is Chapter 1 segments

Fire Emblem?
Unfortunately I can't watch YT videos from my computer (motherboard/graphics card problem I think) so I can't see what it's like, but how much time could be saved on Hooktail? At least 5 seconds? If so, go back and redo it. You'll be far more satisfied with the result. 2-5 seconds? Maybe redo it, depends on how easy it is to save the time. Less than 2 seconds? If you're patient enough, redo it, otherwise let it slide.

(I really look forward to the completed run - because I can't watch YT videos and I want to see how you've done :P)
I agree I'd redo it (even thought I only saw the part where you missed koops' action command)
I can

Try downscaling it to the lowest quality: 240p

BTW: What is with the annoying buzzing sound?
Fire Emblem?
It's not that I can't load them, it's that my computer crashes after a few minutes of playing any kind of flash. YT not working is therefore a symptom, not the main problem, so to speak.

Well, my graphics card temporarily crashes sometimes while watching anything other than 240p. So *shrugs*

EDIT: Can I have messed up my sentence even more than I already did?
I bet no one's going to watch this but I'll post it anyway. My first Segment was nearly flawless (ok didn't get lucky buckets etc. falling vs. Blooper but didn't restart due to that <_<). Overall I saved a lot.

Hope you do well too.

THIS RUN CONTAINS SECRET WORLDS
Does anyone happen to know whether Samura1man's Ch. 1 or NamiNami's Ch. 1 is faster? By my estimation, both are about 45 to 46 minutes long, but if someone could time these more precisely I'd really appreciate it. It looks like this is going to be a really close race now that both are following Miles's route.
