Oh!I didn't think about that.OK then,I will not take the pipe then.I expect to try out my first test run this Friday.I might,or might not be able to send it in,because the only problem is,I need a high quality video camera that won't get in the way of my view. Also, I don't have a video camera.I might be able to buy one from my Aunt though.I know she has one,but I don't know how good it is.
Hold up, I completely didn't include the tip If you hold R when starting the room, the viewpoint will change and the flames/dry bones will start/disappear earlier.
Ok guys. I have just done a ss no hit up to 8-8,then died. :-[ I will start to practice that. I also need to practice the platform pattern on 8 tower 2. After all this, this run will be perfect. I won't be able to send this in until Cristmas though,b/c My dad said this Christmas,he will buy me all the video editing materials I will need. I told him about why,and he said this Cristmas. I will make up for this long from now time by making this a perfect no hit do or die min% run. I am currently practicing as I speak to you right now. All I need to practice is 8-8,and 8 castle 2.
get running in a blue shell and hold only X (or Y, it doesnt matter). When you're coming up to the spring, jump on it while holding X (or Y) and jump off while still holding X (or Y). Continue holding X (or Y) and you will go blue shell speed in the air.
Harder and more useful (as in fast) way):
get running as fast as you can go while crouching (as in jump and crouch at the same time). Then jump onto the spring, jump, let go of the control pad, and hold X (or Y). You will go the speed that you took off with (which is fast if you were using a starman).
This means that you can travel long distances in the air without losing speed (if you bounce off enemies you retain your speed), meaning that levels are much easier to go through if they have springs.
I don't know if this helps, but if you get specific times on the first levels of each world, you can open a mushroom house on the start point of that world.
If you get x11, x22, x33 on the timer, a Red Mushroom house appears, which generates items. If you get x44, x55, x66 on the timer, a Green Mushroom house appears, which is a 1up minigame. If you get x77, x88, x99 on the timer, a Orange Mushroom house appears, which lets you gain a Mega Mushroom into your inventory, thus overriding anything in it.
I don't know what route people are taking, but if you are spending time unlocking a mushroom house it might be faster to wait before the finish line on one of the first levels and get just the right time.
Oh, and remember to hit the bottom of the flag pole

Yes i knew this, and this won't be that helpful. Thanks though.
i figured out that to do that glitch, you take off constantly at the speed that you were going when you were crouched on the spring and continue at that speed until you let go of Y (if you were going faster than the default spring speed, you slow down, but otherwise you stay the same speed), drill down, or hit something.
you dont have to crouch anywhere else, just the spring (meaning it doesnt work with mini or mega mario/luigi).
I remember discussion a while ago about runs for 1, 2 and 3 star completions being considered. Well, I might just get some people thinking about 2 stars.
There's three stars available, as you know. The first requires completion of the game. The other two are interchangeable, to a certain extent. One requires the spending of all star coins, and the other requires all secret exits to be found. However, since all star coins implies playing every level, that's not exactly very useful.
So we move onto the secret exits. According to GameFAQs, there are seventeen:
1-2 1-Tower 1-5 2-3 2-A 2-4 3-2 3-Ghost House 4-1 4-Ghost House 5-2 5-B 5-Ghost House 7-Ghost House 7-4 7-5 7-6
From this we can deduce three things:
* Worlds 3 and 4 must be played, so World 2 has to be done twice. Possible spreading of the load here? * World 6 can be skipped entirely. * All of the warp cannons require a secret exit, so we can use these at any time. The only ones I can think of that you'd actually use are 4 -> 7 and 5 -> 8.
So yeah. Route plan away. I'm thinking 1 -> 2 -> 3 -> 5, go back to 2, 4 -> 7, back to 5, -> 8.
IIrc, you have to take every exit, not just the secret ones. This means you have to complete every level anyway, so you might as well get all Star Coins while you're at it.
OK. I know that i'm ready for this run.just now,I finished 5 consecutive ss no death namb run. Once i get a high quality video camera,i will record/send it in.
My best of those times is 24:56
This is the time I will aim for. I will attempt to make this better.
I know. Like I said,i'm currently trying to improve this so I can beat that time. It will not be that hard. I got careless since i wasn't recording, and made plenty of carless mistakes. Like getting hit,or getting stopped or something like that. This is only my goal time. So don't worry. I'm pretty confident that I can nail this down to 24 minutes by the end of the week. During my upcoming test runs,i'll be more strict with what I will/won't allow, and do it as I am recording.
2 stars means completing at least one exit in all 80 stages. The only secret exits 2 stars requires are the ones leading to stages. 2 stars only requires enough star coins to open all routes leading to stages.
OK.I have one final question, then i know i can make this perfect.
How do I do the rocket jump off baby bowser right over bowser? When ever I try it,I always get pushed back about a foot, and can't get enough force to reach over bowser.
