Nice Fatalis.

Also, fingers cross the next game has a special 4 pack bundle for a discounted price Wink
Can't wait to break the sequel.
So I finally got this game on PC so I wouldn't have to bother with playing on my 360. Idk what improvements or times I'll get since I really suck at like half the levels but I like running ILs and I hated being non-segmented in a world of segmented ILs so yeah.

http://www.speedrun.com/lcgol I moved the leaderboards. All of the ILs are there too. "lcgol" because http://pastebin.com/CZKPBr3F
Hey guys. I've been running this game for a little while now and after grinding quite a bit the last two days I finally got a pretty good run going and ended up with a 23:35.

The reason I make this post is because during the run I messed up the first cutscene skip in Toxic Swamp and instinctively went to the menu, restarted the level and went on from there. I don't want to submit the run to the leaderboards until I know if this is accepted or not.
http://www.twitch.tv/seductivespatula/c/5618329 for the run. 07:39 for the time.

EDIT: Ok so looking at the vod, I totally missed the fact that the timer reset for the split, so basically I done goofed. Will have a closer look at it tomorrow and time it. Anyways I'm kinda sad now Tongue Avoiding the cutscene trigger isn't even hard.
Yeah it's a bug with the component and it's noted in the readme that level restarting isn't supported.
Yeah, I remember reading that, I just didn't consider it at all at the time. Oh well, I'll do some more runs next week and see how it goes.
Alright, I fixed it. 23:13.
http://www.twitch.tv/seductivespatula/c/5645270

I also got a 2:30.213 Temple of Light while practicing earlier, so that's pretty cool.
So I was wondering why with what seemed like nearly perfect runs I would be behind the PC records by several seconds, so I did a side by side comparison of 2 levels.

Jaws of Death - While this console run was not perfect, it serves my purpose.  Main thing to note here is that both videos movements are roughly the same, but PC keeps slowly moving ahead.  Also, the total time for the level is 1:23 for the PC and 1:25 for Console, minus 2 (maybe 3 for fades?) seconds for the cutscene (this one doesn't count towards IGT) then 2 more seconds for the level fades will equal the PC IGT time. However, you would think that would make this console run a 1:20, being exactly 2 seconds behind (maybe a very low 1:21 at the highest), yet it's a 1:22.  My point here, is that the timer works slightly differently between PC and Console (or at least X360) giving PC a slight advantage AND that PC movement is faster for some reason. Note that PC gets to the cutscene first.

To further prove that PC has a movement advantage, look at this comparison for the Summoning, mainly the race to the cutscene. PC has enough time to throw a spear and still be able to trigger the cutscene before the 6 second console run. the fade in is faster on PC too.

All I'm saying here is that SS runs PC has a bit of an advantage, but of course xbox has the segmenting trick.  Its too bad, I really would have liked all versions to be the same...
I got a 23:11
http://www.twitch.tv/stingrayy/c/5902918
Would have been sub 23 I think but I choked in quite possibly the dumbest way possible on the very last section.
Finally popped the sub 23. The run can still be so much better, but I'm reasonably happy with it.

Here's a video showing how to throw spears for maximum height and the various possible heights. If you're struggling with the spear jumps on FP and TB, take a look. Always throw the spear while standing next to the wall. If it goes halfway into the wall, it's at a really terrible height. You can prevent them from going into walls by aiming a certain way.

Also I got 1:44.1xx on Flooded Passage and had no clue how I cut off 5 seconds, so I made a comparison video: . Apparently the new strats save more time than I had thought.

So we found out IGT is affected by FPS. 30FPS loses around 1.4 seconds per minute vs 60. Higher than 60fps gains time but seems to be erratic. When testing, I saw between 1.4 and 3.4 sec per minute gained vs 60fps. There seems to be a huge jump somewhere between 120 and 144.

From now on I think it would be best if everyone played with vsync on and refresh rate 60hz.

Also I'm in the middle of re-writing the LiveSplit plugin so that it doesn't use IGT and uses load screen removal instead.

EDIT: FPS also seems to affect the amount of time it takes for a cutscene to start up . 60fps = ~550ms 144fps = ~320ms. IGT runs during this time. Enforcing vsync/60hz will fix this also.

Probably not new but here's the spear setup I use for ToL skip now. Center is ideal. Throw second spear directly up-right and it should work every time.
New version of the LiveSplit plugin released, no longer uses IGT. I'm going to go through all of the videos on the leaderboards and convert them to the new timing. I'll post a guide on how to do this later if anyone wants to do it themselves.
So what does this mean for guys like me who are on console at 30 FPS?  I'm glad my suspicions about the PC time gain and not from me sucking Tongue

Remove loads manually and you should be somewhat on par with us (single segment). You have a mac right? just install bootcamp/windows?

Also, here's a new trick discovered by xer1an and I figured out how it works. http://www.twitch.tv/xer1an/c/6136903
Find a corner like shown in both videos. Put a spear on one side and a ball on the other. Have the ball slowly roll toward the spear (placing a bomb on top of it is a good way to do this) then jump.
For some reason this glitches out the autojump code.
I've no plans on bootcamping. and I'm assuming loads include cutscenes as well? I saw some vids with the timer stopping for cutscenes. Manually timing console runs are going to be a pain...

That was the old timer that used IGT, the new one only removes load screens. Cutscenes do seem to load stuff, but its nearly the same for all of us, provided the game's running at 60fps. Console has disadvantage for that I guess. The run speed thing you found also does, so I don't think we can compare console to PC realistically now that I think about it.

Also I found out moon jump doesn't require a corner:

Flooded Passage spike ball skip, viable in single segment
Saves 4-6 seconds if done quickly.
with this new trick, i may have to revisit this game, although with the wonderful timing advantage of PC, idk how competitive I'll be.  Hopefully LC ToO will be more console friendly for runs.

ideas for the moon jump:

Temple of Light - skip the fire trap? (although the infinite jump off of the grapple point skips it too, but if I remember correctly, the loading zone isnt loaded until after the trap is destroyed)
Spider Tomb - can the moon jump enable us to fall further without dying? might be able to skip down the level faster if it does
@ ToL: Won't work due to loading zone not spawning until the trap is destroyed, as you said.
@ ST: Yeah, that's what we've been trying. The trick does indeed stop "max fall height" deaths but there are still tons of death planes all over in ST.
Happened upon speedrun.com just now and saw runs submitted for this and was pleasantly surprised to see some runs. Pretty bummed that I have a shitty 360 controller wireless receiver for PC otherwise I'd be excited to put in some time into RTAs. Maybe I'll do some IL derusting for now and see where it all goes. Have a couple of other games I need to be focusing on for the sake of a marathon in about a month but I do love playing this game.
