Hi guys! I had two good break throughs with awakening. I am on my laptop so I can't post video, but I will post Imgur albums soon. About 20seconds save easily.
That OOB might useful if you can skip most of the level and still hit the trigger further on, can't wait to see what new stuff you found in Awakening so I can test it out!
First of all Hey guys good to see that so many people are working on breaking this game! I'm just on my first playthrough and these staircases with junk on them always seemd a little bit odd to me. I was able to get OOB from some of them but it was hard to get back inbounds. Now I found this pretty Interesting thing.
I don't know if it would save that much time BUT i also found a way to get OOB just from the first floor of the mission but it seemd like to go nowhere because you need to ride the elevator to advance... :/
Did not see any youtube videos or such about the bars, but good. I will keep routing things a bit. Hopefully we get some good use of OOB's. The game just has so many triggers.
I believe the first time I noticed this was at the School, not sure though... There are some barricades in hallways which, if you have enough space to see the other side of it, you can actually clip through them with the grappling hook (by throwing it on the other side at specific angles)...
I believe we can make the game under 3 hours if we find a way to get the grappling hook, it just breaks the game so badly lol...
Things I've found so far: - Dying Light - Parkour Route:
- Dying Light - Awakening OoB Route:
- Dying Light - Mattress Clip in First Room:
- Dying Light - Contact GRE Save Warp:
Things I've tested: - Grinding to get to level 12 Survivor quickly. -- Unfortunately, this can't be done easily in the current version, but may be possible with the initial release with Supply Drop exploiting (Supply Drops used to always drop at sunrise). - Grinding to get Power at a high level via drowning night virals. -- Ended up being quite a waste of time. - Farming Herbs and Toxic plants from the south area in Slums. -- This probably should be done in a speedrun. The speed boosters are quite useful. - Only fighting random encounters and getting supply drops, but no other sidequests. -- This seems good for getting items, but it wastes a lot of time.
We really need a way to get the grappling hook early game. Specifically, before the missions for Rais that you need to turn on the power on those comm towers. You could literally grappling hook up them in 2 shots. It would save a buttload of climbing and general travel time. You wouldn't need speed boosters either. Surviving at night takes too long to gain substantial Survivor exp. I might DL the original version of the game and try to do the supply drop exploit to see how fast I could get to level 12. Other than supply drops, only the main missions of the game give significant Survivor exp. Does anyone know the total exp required to get to Survivor level 12?
The only other way that I could conceive getting that much exp is if we found a way to repeatedly turn in the same mission or supply drop. Like, some kind of save exploitation. Check out my Twitch for my past broadcasts if you want to scan through and see some of the stuff I've tried so far: http://www.twitch.tv/demonstrate86
I know all of these except for that last video and it doesn't seem to be the right clip or something? I understand it is supposed to warp you but that did not put you on the roof as the description said.
Getting the grappling hook would be great but it would require some sort of sick glitch to level up quickly.
I also heard you can kill The Demolisher in The Pit really quickly by getting him close to a container with spikes, go up and throw a melee weapon at him and that should make him fall down on the spikes and instakill him but could not get it to work yet.
Someone mentioned some type of stamina glitch that allows you to reset or regain all of your stamina quickly, anyone know about this? Only thing I found so far is that you can quickly reset it when you hear your character start making noises, let go of sprint for a second and then sprint again.
As for Herbs, I do try and gather enough to make Speed Boosters at least 3 times before heading to The Old Town.
Throwing your Arena Machete at the demolisher takes like quarter of his health if you hit his back. Assuming you have destroyed the armor already from the way that is. You just need to go and grab your knife back.

Ah, I'm a moron. For some reason, I thought the GRE point was farther away from the safehouse. My bad.
Well I just discovered this duplication glitch on youtube :
This will help a lot, this is how I used that: - Sell the second Police Rifle we get from the Gate Glitch for 1000$ - Buy 100 Lockpick - Duplicate 100 Speed Boost at next safezone (Probably is the second tower from Rais Quest) - Take this package (which is on way) :
- Duplicate packages, give these 100 packages to quartermaster, and guess what ? You just reach level 12 and have acces to grappling hook while you're still in Pact with Rais !
Can confirm! This works with PC 1.21. You just need to hit enter SLIGHTLY before hitting esc, then choose the item you want from your inventory and hit C.
The retrieve window disappears for a second but appears again after opening inventory.
1. Get the DIY knives and firecrackers 2. Throw explosive canister inside the container, hit it and watch it blow up. The latter part is important.
The game has an internal cap on "how many zombies are active". If you run too far the zombies turn inactive and become immortal. That is a problem in the Arena when you want to throw explosives in and head for the next container to do the same. The zombies don't die that way. You need to watch them burn and finish off the rest.
3. Two containers can be killed easily with canisters, last one needs firecrackers and the broken rebar.
I didn't get the Demolisher to be killed with spikes no matter how hard I tried. I still think DIY knives, machete and throwing it in his back works the best.
4. When running away from the Arena there are sometimes scripted explosions in the beginning (and sometimes there are not). Be mindful when that happens and react accordingly.
This run can be done in less than three hours. I get the grappling hook just before the last mission.
The run had several mistakes. Bad pathing (my 4th time running this way), few dumb deaths.. I actually found out a few faster strats. 1. Dying immediately after Karim sends you to Jaffar gets you closer. 2. Tariq gets wrecked by power attacks. http://www.twitch.tv/mrhattu/c/6016645 Ingame timer 3h 12min 05s
@ 37:50, you don't need to talk to the guy on the tower. Just climb it and turn on the power. @ 1:01:57, you don't need to check the back entrance. I never even knew that was there until I saw it in your video. After checking the front door, just go straight to the roof to get inside. Edit: You can just go straight to the roof and go inside. You don't have to check the front door either. @ 1:14:55, you don't need to turn over that body. You only need to turn over Omar's body.
I only got half way through the run so far. I'll update this list after I watch the rest of the video.

I didn't know that.. huh.. Thanks! I might upload sub 3 hour glitchless run later this week.
I have found several better routes and better pathing for many parts of the game and I might have two pages of notes to help me remember them

You don't need to check anything, just go straight to the top !

That makes it even better. The Arena just killed my run with bad rng. One of the zombies kicked the exploding canister back at me. I laughed and then cried. I was at the arena fight in 1h 18min.. (no glitch)
My current route concept involves: 1. As soon as you leave the tower, head to the southern area to grab herbs and toxic lichens. Only grab what is required for a speed booster (2 herbs, 4 toxic lichens). 2. Head west to the water area where the guaranteed relief package is. 3. Head back to the tower to floor 18 and use the stash bag for duping. 4. Dupe: firecrackers, metal parts (if obtained by quartermaster), relief packages, and whatever will sell for the most money. 5. Get to level 25 and go purchase the best selling stackable item. 6. Dupe the stackable item and more relief packages if required. 7. Purchase the best melee weapon and whatever firearm that may be available. 8. Continue through the game unimpeded. :-)
