I was thinking the same thing. Some of the games that are being cut from the list could be held in reserve in case of technical difficulties, or if we start running way ahead of schedule (most of the time estimates are pretty high, so this is a likely occurrence).
I had a question on Pokemon Blue. Is the runner going to be able to start with a Squirtle or whatever with perfect stats? Pokemon is ridiculously luck based, and I can imagine the run ending up being very sloppy if the runner is just going to wing it.
No, they'll probably just wing it. It won't be perfect, but it normally goes pretty well. I've done a number of Blue speedruns just for the hell of it and always just went with the first one I got and never had too much trouble.
Since marathon sign ups are closing soon, it's time to revive this thread. One thing I really have to emphasize, I am not adding new games anymore. I already have too many games on the schedule, and making cuts at this point will be painful.
Some changes I made:
Sly Cooper: Animeowzerz is coming and he can do this game. It's a fairly popular game (was a playstation best-seller, IIRC), and it has a lot of cool shortcuts. Mario Kart 64: Aleckermit says he's going to come to the marathon, and said he could do this game (on top of possibly racing oot). Mario 64: Time reduced to 15 minutes because Jiano will do a 1-star run.
Cuts
Kirby's Amazing Mirror - Adventure (or the remake I guess) and Super Star are the two big Kirby games. Kirby's Dream Land - romscout didn't care if I cut this game. He also said it wouldn't be Mass Effect 2 - Spineshark can't come. :-/ Metal Slug X - I'm cutting this for time considerations. I'll never let Metal Slug 3 die though.
Games I'm really thinking of cutting right now:
Prince of Persia: UA, I'll give you back Metal Storm if you let me cut this. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Josh made a good point about this game the other day. The CGDQ run cannot be topped, ever. Uncharted 2: Yeah, Ark, I know you really wanted to run this game, but you still haven't given me a time estimate, and I think you said this game would be around 3 hours. Wolfenstein 3D: I know you wanted to expose this game, Josh, and if it was shorter, I would have no problem with you running it. However, you haven't practiced the game yet, it's an hour and a half, and to be honest, I'm not sure this is game is really that entertaining to watch.
I'm also considering Moonwalker, but I just love the weirdness of the game too much.
The worst part is that I'll still have to make cuts even if all of the games I mentioned above are cut, because timing is just that tight.
While I'm disappointed at Amazing Mirror Epic 2P run being cut, it does save the trouble of having to plan weekends for driving to visit romscout, that's the way things roll, I guess. Might still try it for the secondary stream though and give the fans what they REALLY want.

Wow, the games being run for this marathon look spectacular. Since I'm back at work on the Monday (December 10), I'm going to have to race home at the end of the day to catch the end of the show I'm already excited to watch!
Honestly, I've done almost no practice on my games so far. I wouldn't be totally opposed to cutting TMNT just for that reason. Although I still maintain that (If genre = "Beatemup" && !MIKEHAGGAR), then cut it.
Also, that's terrible pseudo-code, but you can probably figure out what I mean by that.
I can run Mario Kart 64 - Grand Prix All Cups 150cc, takes about 40 minutes (really rough estimate, haven't timed a decent playthrough using shortcuts yet). I can also race Runnerguy2489 in Ocarina of Time (I'll ask him when I get the chance), but that's totally up to him, he's more consitent than me usually though so he's your guy if we want a solo speedrun of OoT.
No one has really seen me play MK64 so I'll make a video of me playing through a cup very soon. Due to difficulty, only a few of the major shortcuts tricks can be used, the total time saved from these tricks should add up to about 6 minutes or so. I'd definitely perform better alone, but having a second player might be more entertaining (but definitely slower).
Emptyeye, I know you're kinda trolling here but I think Streets of Rage 2 is the biggest must-have of the beat-em-ups. It's widely considered the best console beat-em-up ever and it was one of the biggest sellers on the Genesis; heck, it was even a pack-in game for a while.
But it looks like we should be able to keep most of the stuff people want. At this point it's looking like Mike will cut a few of the really long games and a few other miscellaneous ones.
7 Mario Bros, 5 RE, 5 zelda, 5 Metroid, 5 Mega Man, 5 Castlevania and 4 **fucking** Kirby games; and Mass Effect 2, one of the best games out there in years, doesn't have a guaranteed place in the marathon?.
I know that SDA's audience consists mainly of teenagers and kids but ... you gotta be kidding me, really.

The guy who was going to run it probably won't make it. That's why it was cut.
also wtf? those are the dumbest stereotypes i've ever heard.
Requiem: Yeah, a lot of these games just come down to having people good enough to run them.
Also we're down to 2 Kirby games now (a good thing imo, I was kinda salty about that too) and some of the other franchises you mentioned have games currently on the chopping block. Mike just made a bunch of cuts now that you can see in the spreadsheet linked in the OP, and the rest of them will likely come soon since he probably wants to make out a schedule soon.
