Nicovideo is the only place where you can find the current 100% WR. Normally, you'd need a free account to watch videos there, but I've changed the link so that you can watch it without further delay. To find the next parts, just click on the clickable "sm" links above the video (part 2 would be sm17818928 for example)
Main Work!!!
My timing is from when I press start on the Title screen and stop when my last ground pound hit the floor against bowser. I also play without memory card.

I made a guide for the Yoshi Skip:

I'm still not 100% consistent or anything and the trick is still a bit challenging, but I think I have gotten a decent grasp of how the trick works and what you have to watch out for. So that's why I felt confident enough to make a video.

Hope this helps people.

Still wondering whether your position and angle actually affects your chances of clipping into the loading zone, hmm.
Micromanager extraordinaire
Very nice and detailed video.
I guess I just found a route improvement for any% no Yoshi Skip runs.

Do Bianco Hills and Gelato Beach like you normally would. Then, go to Ricco Harbor but only do the first shine. Go to Pinna then and complete it. After that, finish Ricco and head for the Shadow Mario in the plaza.

The reason why this saves time is because you don't have to watch 4 Delfino Plaza cutscenes that take 2,5 seconds each, saving 10 seconds. The little detour to Ricco only takes like 4 seconds, so you'll end up saving about 6 by using this method.

This is not useful for runs that go for Pianta Village first because you will have too many shines at that point and the game will show you the Noki Bay entrance cutscene like normal.
Alright, so for all those who have problems with the Eel - fear no longer, your problems will be solved now.

I made an Eel guide based on my knowledge. I think it turned out fairly well:

Only thing I forgot to mention is that the Eel instantly goes down if you clean any of his teeth that he loses before he starts spinning, but eh that's fine.

Hope this helps people.
Got 1:38:44 yesterday. Had really silly mistakes and two deaths in it. I guess I'm going to try to get 1:37 / 1:36 before I take a break and switch to 78 shines or something.
Sounds like Maverick talk to me.
Why not shotgun Spray The Middle Teeth so you can get two at a time?

Good idea, but it is sadly inefficient. The teeth don't get cleaned especially fast and it's also unreliable because you don't quite know whether it's going to hit like you want or not.

Honestly, you're better off just spraying the teeth one by one.
Hey guys im new to speedrunning this game and was wondering, are there any restrictions on what version you should play? Like is the players choice version the only one that allows some skips or..? is there a definite copy of the game i should get to speedrun this?
You can never run enough games

AFAIK any version works, since they all have the same breaks. Also region differences are pretty much null, so that's a nice bonus. Pretty sure that Gelato skip isn't patched on Player's choice, but I can't confirm.

Every version has its own minor advantages and is a viable option, just a matter of ease of access/personal preference.
