7 is done!

my one working controller decided not to work recently so today I went and got a new one...*waves bye to five year old purple original*

anything to say about 7? not really...time was a little over 4 minutes...I originally expected 4 then more towards 4:30 but ended up closer to the original goal

ran into a weird situation that I realized after the taping of segment 6 there was 5 or 6 seconds of another end of 6 but I figured out that was my other finished 6 that just ran over longer :p

pachinko worked great, new strategy for going to grasslands by jumping over the building with the chuckster and then rocketing up the next one and dive+spring up over the fruit to the pinna park canon.

grasslands worked alright, first seed guy was annoying but I figured out that the enemies are in fact NOT random and thus came up with a strategy (3 coins in corners etc). Bird died nice and easy.

so that's the end of the "easy" segments

now back to the evils of gelato beach.

everything here is pretty straightforward it is just kinda annoying

Gelato Beach really is annoying. I can only imagine trying to knock Wiggler down and get those damn reef Red Coins really fast... Watermelon Festival isn't that tough, but it'll probably piss you off as well.

Cool run. I wonder if you're not tired of hearing the Blue Coin appearance sound. Smiley

Just one random thing I've found while playing... by now Turbo nozzle is unlocked, obviously, but my thought is using that on number 6 to hopefully get some of the coins faster.

what I do is get the turbo nozzle during the il piantissimo race and then use the turbo for part of the reef coins and the 100 coins

well the good news is I dont think segment 8 is gonna be as annoying as originally thought

I did change my 100 coin route quite a lot though, now its more something like

Island trees, swing (+2 blue coins)
Ducks on the way to the 2nd level
Ducks on the 2nd level + secret shine hole
Up top, blue coin above big watermelon
2 yellow + blue coin in gap
Back up on the ropes and the yellows + blue coin up here
Dive down (can't consistently do the wire hang and it takes a long time so I dont)
Coins under the watermelon shack (+ blue)
Rest of the ducks
Fruit hut stuff (yellow+ blue)
Rocket nozzle area (yellow+blue)
Rocket above that hut (yellow+blue)
By now I should have 90, if not bash the close watermelon, then push it over along with carrying the fruit for the last blue coin (average coins retrieved: 9, if I can get 9 the 100th coin comes from spraying the shine in the watermelon hut)

Birds etc are now done with Yoshi in episode 6

Most annoying thing in this segment is really those stupid fish in the coral...they will disappear into a rock and never reappear...

I wish you good luck on the casino sections of Sirena Beach when you get to that section...in fact, taking the random nature of the cleaning section and the battle against the Manta Storm into account, I wish you good luck with the whole Level...

Yeah, same here. There's 96 regular Shine Sprites and 24 from the guy that takes 10 blue couns. What happens when you get all 120, anyway?

Another Run-killer is that once you reach 72, you MUST beat Bowser to get all but one of the rest (if you don't already have it)

@Yoshiman: not sure what you're referring to exactly. But beating Bowser will be the last shine so I don't have to count the ending time twice (credits etc counts if the run isn't finished) But there's a different ending screen when you get 120. That's it :/

I think he means that you can't get some of the Shines during the flood scene. There might be a way around that if there is some way to get the flood to subside without having to defeat Bowser.

Just going into Corona Mountain for the blue coins and leaving (which I do immediately after the flood) will make the flood recede..

can you get absolutely everything first before you enter bowser's area? because i thought you'd have to get the blue coins from the shop and there must be some in corona mountain.

True, there are ten Blue Coins in Corona Mountain. He'll probably just have to exit, though. I don't think it's actually necessary to defeat Bowser and sit through the credits.
