Congrats: Reading Skill Lv Up!
Guys how exactly does one go about adding stuff to the SDA Knowledge Base section?  We need an easy place for people interested in the game to find these tricks, since the thread will only get messier from here on out and was mostly for discoveries.

So far we can definitely add:
Sliding off ledges for the diagonal slide-in-air fast fall
The Wiggling OoB Glitch
Throwing Kunai through walls to open doors from the wrong side
Air Recovery, since it is necessary to do a lot of tricky wall climbs and never taught to the player by the game
The importance of the "Rage" meter in boss fights: I will test some more and try to get hard numbers on how much each attack builds the meter as %s

I'd also like to make a section on optimal Movement Techniques (Once I finish testing these nebulous jumping Charge Slash boosts and have harder numbers).  If anyone has a godlike machine that can lock the game at 60 FPS AND RECORD IT AT 60 FPS to get frame data for movement, instead of my manual timing, that would be fucking sweet.

EDIT: I am adding this game to the Knowledge Base website right now.  Even though I've never edited pages like that before, and have no experience with it, I AM SURE IT WILL TURN OUT FABULOUSLY!
To run or not to run ?
I can actually record at 60 FPS so i'll time precisely what time it take to do running, little jumps, etc...
Me and MTP have better time at Slip and Slide than 25.99 huh huh. He is first on One, I am first on PS4. 25 seconds someting. Just telling you in case you want to have a better time than consoles.

To run or not to run ?
It takes 108 frames (60/s more or less i thnik i have like a 1 or 2 frame inprecision here) to slide through a save room (from a stop start)
It takes 122 frames to run through a save room (from a stop start)
It takes 108 frames jumping through a save room while jumping before (not a stop start and "perfect" jumps)
It takes 128 frames to do the exact same from a stop start, but in a save room you'll hit the ceiling for 10 frames or so on the last jump (you can't avoid it)
I'll continue testing and later when i'll get my PC (plasma cataplut) i'll test our "optimal" way of mouvement

Edit: Sliding is maxing speed at the 1st frame because simply sliding and entering the room by sliding take exactly the same amout of frames that when you start from a full stop

Taehupo,

Testing movement outside The Tower (from the edge of one side save room to the other) gives more distance and consistent results without distractions.  Works best if done before the activation of the BIRDY BIRD platform since that thing eats your inputs like a little shit, and also before the flying enemies populate the area.  I prefer testing from right to left so that the slopes have less of an effect on things like PC's.
To run or not to run ?
Well basically saves room are flat, so i was thinking they were simply the best places to mesure, because everywhere in the games they are exactly the same, and i still do not have the PC so i can't test all the ways of moving yet

Save Frames, Lose Seconds.
What I do with pc is =

PC > jump > second jump while close to the floor > charged attack at the top of second jump > PC as soon as you touch the floor > etc

Pewable, air movement isn't faster than running unless you have a Charged Strike ready to go.  Even though the Charge Dashes are excellent, spending more time in the air isn't.

Yes, and I always have a charged strike ready to go... I did a trial like 600 times to be first so believe me, it's optimal. But I am bad with this kind of thing so don't mind me.

(But there were guys along the way so it changes everything too.)

I'm just saying that your jumping may have been optimal for the terrain and enemies and obstacles etc.  But on flat surfaces with nothing around, a high altitude Charge Boost loses it's speed almost immediately afterward and you fall down at regular air speed i.e. slow.  They work all the time, but work best from lower jumps.  Also double jumps are just as slow as single jumps, at least from my jump testing.  In either of our strategies there is barely any running, so it's not a huge difference.  Still, running > ordinary jumping.

Double Post Sad
Hello all!

I've been on the fence if I want to speedrun this game. However, while streaming some of my first playthrough yesterday, I accidentally stumbled upon a new OoB!

I have 0 idea how I did it (wasn't able to reproduce but only attempted for a few minutes), and I have no idea how much use it'll be... but here you go!

"25 seconds something" is pretty bad info. The difference between a high 25 and a low 25 is huge.

Also this is why we need leaderboards, because the online ones don't cover all systems.

edit: also, is there a guy with the steam tag "Sanven" on here? he beat some of my beacon runs by a small margin. i was shocked he beat my smoke stack time.

So I made the Knowledge Base page for the game and am working on populating it so um... the links on the page actually go to sub-articles instead of a vast sea of digital nothing.  It's pretty simple though and I promise to have it presentable before I go to sleep in 3 hours or so.  As far as credit goes, the only big glitch so far is the OoB one, which I believe was discovered by EIiitti.  Do you want to write an explanation of that glitch for the KB or do you just want me to go with "wiggle left and right as fast as possible" because that's what I've got so far.  Also, does anyone have a fun name idea for the sliding off ledges glitch where you just slide through the air for a second?  I don't want to call it "Slide-in-air" because I'd rather give it a ridiculous name like Awesomeflight!  I could also just name these things after who discovered them.

Here's a link for those who want to laugh at my slow progress:

Ok new ingame time to 1:15:19 Hard Mode, my fingers and myself are doomed to hell for a moment.

With some skips in the run, to improve that much, but I could hope for a 1:0x if not sub 1, but it should be a bit ambitious (really, cause actually with 60% HP and 40% energy, and 3 reduce, it was pain in the ass to pass the Meio's tower)

RTA : 1:58:30,5
Wow, and I felt good about a 2:06 in game on easy for a minute :/ Did you use any oob?

In the 1:15 yeah, in the 1:51 nope, the gravitron's Oob by MilstailsPrower is quite fat, coupled some more we can do some useful things, but thanks i know where are bonuses, cause meio's tower is just bullshit in Hard. (like 16 hits per mob)

I'm going to delete a lot of my long data-type posts from this thread since I've moved them to the knowledge base.  This will make it easier on people scrolling through the thread.  I'm impressed with how much everyone has discovered to quickly.  In fact one could even say:  wow!

amaze                                                                                                    very info
                such speed                                              much data

You could beat it by simply sliding in-between PCs at the beginning and along other straightaways can't you? Of course you'd have to move as flawlessly as you did throughout the game, but its possible

the only place this could save time is in the beginning. i didn't do a lot of testing but..:

1. if you do this in the beginning, you can't do the PC across the lava. you end up grabbing the ledge, which wastes time. it MIGHT be possible if you get perfect mashing, ill test more tomorrow
2. this could also be used on the slopes near the top. however, i think jumping up slopes is the same speed. this is something else i need to test more.
