Give it about a month though - after that I have three weeks off school, so I should be able to do this at that time.

that was one of the best things of the SMB3 100% run... the Pipe death is completely random.
An emeralds run you say? Well I might think about it, but I'll wait for a pure speed run first. But I think an emerald run would have to be single segment.

I did think about that - but I don't like it since:
a) it makes you invincible, and that gets boring
b) it makes you twice as fast, and contrary to popular belief this does not automatically mean easier! If, for example, I need to make a precision jump onto a small platform (such as Metropolis in Sonic 2 with the arrow platforms) such jumps are made much more difficult.

Also, bloopers would be interesting - I may even deliberately tape a few interesting quirks in Hydrocity 2 in particular just for kicks. This game's full of crazy glitch madness (even more so than Sonic 2!) so there could be a lot to choose from. Smiley

Tell me about it.  I tend to get a crush death as Super Sonic in Carnival Night 2; annoys the hell out of me when that happens.

*knows very well about that* Trust me, I know, I've played Sonic games for longer than any other series ever.  and I agree with Carnival night 2, no matter how many times I play it, I can never finish it without a time out. X_x; I would make a run, but I kind of suck compared you you guys I'd bet... and I know how hard some of the special stages runs are. good luck, I'll help if i can.

Yeah, I've got 3's special stages down pat, except for #7; the ones for S & K are pants-wetters in the eyes of noobs.

Which would #7 be? the one with the lines, and the... *can't remember emerald color*

S&K Special stages are pretty easy, IMO. one of the Sonic 3 ones is harder, the Dark Blue one. AKA, red-white checkers, and has the 3 blue spheres you need to jump over bouncer spheres to get... took my and my sister forever to get that one. S&K isn't too hard, really. the only one I remember being tough is the really huge one with 200 something Blue spheres, adn that one's simple once you get the pattern down. and never go for a perfect ont hat one either. or else, you die.

For a pure emeralds run, I'd pick Tails. anyone that has played this game with him, and all the emeralds would know EXACTLY why. Super Tails = OMFG DESTRUCTION FOX.

#7 would be the last one normally for S3; it's the light blue one, dark blue is #4.

Gotcha. I never really had trouble with that one, always the Dark Blue. always... never any difference, that's always the hardest one.
Super Tails has a lot of disadvantages, one of them being that he is unable to go super during the Sonic 3 section of the game when Sonic and Knuckles would have been able.  He can drown, and I don't think he runs as fast as Hyper Sonic.

That is a disadvantage, but the reason I'd pick tails is the flying, plus boss fights would be less that 10 seconds each.

Sonic is proving more troublesome than I had hoped. Mainly because I've had more trouble with getting the MG2 glitch to work than with Tails or Knuckles. It may even be worth my while not using it if this keeps up.

Anyhow, I set myself a target of 42 minutes for Knuckles - that came out 40:11.

To give you a rough idea of what else is coming up, my Sonic target is 55 minutes, and Tails is 51:30. I personally think my Tails run will be the best of the three - watch out!

MG2 glitch?  Is that the one where you go up top and fight Knuckles' boss instead, or are we talking about a different glitch?

This is the path I use in MG2, though I probably won't get that level of execution down.

For those too lazy to watch, it means Knuckles fights Sonic's boss. Far, far quicker. And I can't pull off Sprint's trick for Sonic into Knuckles' boss fight. Sad
That doesn't seem all that necessary.
