Haters gonna hate
Thanks for the tip Normand.  Looking at it now I'm a bit embarassed I missed that.

Outside of taking a hit in level 2 (ugly, but cost no time) it was all going great til level 6.  Screwed up the 2nd slide again (I swear I hit it every time in practice) and missed the two cycle kill on the boss by one shot.  Those are the only major errors to speak of.  Probably lost about a second on the level 2 boss.  Had a great level 3 and 4 (if either of those bosses can be done faster, I would love to see it).  Had to improvise a bit in 5 as the early enemy that isn't guarenteed to drop a bottle did and I got invincibility sooner than I wanted.  Nailed the jump off the pink guy's head to the invincibility item though, so any time loss was negligible.

If I wanted to keep banging my head against this game I could probably at least tie the mark of 10:13, but I think I'm done.  Good job groobo, looking forward to the video.

Edit:  That's 3 consecutive page breaks for me in this thread.

Finally decided to use projectiles against the fourth boss, which is indeed faster. Got an unlucky stage 1 and stage 2 boss battle. I could shave a few decimals here and there but I won't have time to play this game for the duration of the week-end so that's it for me.

I'll just post my run now. Other than the nasty mistake at the beginning of stage 3 worth a full second and the fact that the pig can be done also about a second faster (I did it like once) this is pretty much flawless. The replay is for FCEU.

Yeah, I'm pretty much done with this game. Don't expect any more improvements from me.
.fm2? Do I need a newer version FCEU to play that? All my videos are .fce.

everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music
I uploaded a shitty capture of groobo's run here if anyone doesn't want to mess with figuring out the emulation. FWIW I haven't even watched it myself, lol. I know I'm not going to match groobo's time and I would rather figure stuff out myself anyway.

I want to set up a support group for stupid ways to mess up a Yume run. I've missed jump climbing onto ladders, fallen off tops of ladders while trying to quickly leave them, gotten hit on the steps in stage 4 (didn't know you could get hurt that way), missed killing the bird boss on the first cycle, the stupid pirate with the barrels, even fell into the water on the ice level while trying to do a big jump. It got so bad I even reset for no reason (when I had gotten something right), and the ultimate: I actually hit fast forward by accident (out of habit I fast forward a lot while playing games on emulator) and was forced to reset.

Sign me up for all of those except fast-forwarding, and add accidentally running into the pig boss's ship itself and getting hit by the enemy in the tutorial. :-[

Since Stage 2 is a shmup level, I think I'll go play one that's actually fun.
Hi! I'm andrewg!
too busy with work/school - no stage clear! Sad

maybe next week.

Well, at least I tried, right...?
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I get this glitched level or something after clearing sonata using gens 10

There's a couple things I'm assuming for this week, but definitive answers would be nice.

One credit?

Normal difficulty?

And as long as I'm posting, fuck the final boss.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
I don't remember the final boss very well Breakdown, but I do remember spamming diagonal grabs helped.

gia: I've never seen that before, so all I can say is maybe try Kega Fusion. I know everyone thinks Gens sucks, but it's the only option for TAS stuff (not a concern for this tourney of course).

Breakdown: Normal, it's default. Thanks though, I'll edit that in.

One continue. If there is some kind of outroar to be able to use continues, I could change it, but I'll go with just one for now.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I don't see the point to ban them, you waste time using continues, and fuck the final boss
Never give up!
Quote from gia:

I'm not sure exactly how to put what I was going to say without potentially sparking a serious heated argument, so I'll instead say that 'not allowing continues' is probably a tradition passed from score-based tourneys.

Anyway.  I find I'm in luck this week because Ristar happens to be on the Sega Genesis Collection for PS2, so I'll be able to play with a decent controller for once (my computer gamepads are iffy at best - probably from the buttons being smashed too much.  They are, after all, only cheap $20 gamepads with retractable cords).
Ristar Smiley ...I remember enjoying that game on the Sonic Mega Collections, though I never completed it.

I really should find one of those old discs and give it a try.

57:xx - gia -all, died like 10 times, 8 vs the final boss but its an improvement over getting game over like in the morning xD, like mike said diagonal right beats the final boss

52:46 - gia - all, fuck final boss minions like to drop just on top of you when the black hole is already formed... died just two times vs boss but died on several levels too Sad

0:42:43 - Breakdown - ALL - NEW

I'd call this a quick playthrough more than a speedrun.  Died 3 times, twice in 3-2 and once in 6-2 and even outside of those there's still a bunch of time that can come off of this.

Edit:

0:41:24 - Breakdown - ALL

This should've been a 38 or 39 something, but then I went and died repeatedly against the end guy.  Again, fuck the final boss.
