Game Name: Dragon Quest I
System: SNES/Super Famicom
Category: Any%
Gameplay Estimate: 2 hrs.
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 3 min.

Pros/Cons:

+ Lacks the grind heavy qualities of its predecessor, replacing most typical grinding with interesting and somewhat risky strats (Golem walk, Dragon Loop) to gain most of the levels you need in something like 1/4 of the run's time.
+ Looks and sounds nice, is the best version of this game hands down (well, Android/iOS is pretty sweet but also bad for a run because they fixed stuff D:)
+ Dragon Warrior/Quest is reasonably popular, and this, my submission of DQ2, and DQ3 of some flavor would round out the Roto Series Trilogy and make a lovely start to a DQ block. This version of this game also really deserves to be made known, at the moment people seem to really be into Dragon Warrior but likely don't even know this version exists because we didn't get it here :<
+ This is a safe run if played like one, period. Very little is outside of your control, and basically everything can go wrong and you'll still be within 2 hours.
+ multiple available commentators can make sure that people know what's going on, given it's in Japanese (if Japanese wins the bid-war)
+ But Thou Must

- it's in Japanese. Donation incentive can convert it to English, playing in English isn't a problem with a translation patch and uh... pretty funny stuff happens to the ending so that could be involved in incentivizing it. That being said, JP plz :<<<
- But Thou Must

Length: This game is pretty short, clocking in at well under 2 hours typically, but I would prefer to submit a lenient estimate since a death on the Dragonlord due to being put to sleep forever is a fairly significant time waster (8-10 minutes).

Entertainment: Blind pitch-black walk through a cave maze, anti-chivalrous hero dropping princesses in the mud, possible endgame safety strats involve joining the Dragonlord Shocked

Possible Donation Incentives:
Princess% (bring Princess Laura to fight the Dragonlord)
Level 17 Dragonlord attempt vs. Join the Dragonlord: lv17 is fairly likely to go south, but doesn't cost a ton of time if it does, and is super hype if it works out. Joining the Dragonlord is an endgame safety strat, enabling much higher MP for the Dragonlord fight (and conquering the world of DARKNESS WA HA HA HA HA HA HA . . .)
Japanese vs. English (I don't have a flash cart someone lend me one? :3)

not really a donation incentive, but I have to open a chest trying to get a 1/16 drop possibly many times early in the run, (Open_Chests)*$X = profit?

Sample run video: PB as of the time of this submission (1:36:45) http://www.twitch.tv/starofviolence/v/27090125 - set a 1:40 and change last night with multiple problems and no Metal Slime involved, consistent sub-1:40 is reasonable.

Game Name: Dragon Quest II
System: SNES/Super Famicom
Category: Any%
Gameplay Estimate: 4 hrs.
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 6 min.

Pros/Cons:

+ Is the best and fastest version of this particular game
+ This is a pretty straight-laced run, and involves simply gaining the levels necessary to beat the game rather than completely relying on the yolo strats of the NES version.
+ Same notes about a DQ block and commentary as above.
+ Cannock is good.

- This being a fairly straight-laced run is also its flaw; there aren't really any super involved strats in this run, other than some shop/lottery ticket manipulation in the beginning. You essentially just play the game very quickly, and there is somewhat of a grind during the endgame to achieve the levels you need to beat it.
- Cannock is good.

Possible Donation Incentives:

The theme played during the game loading menu, and the ending credits both have lyrics, donate enough and I'll sing'em both~♫
Japanese vs. English

Sample run video: I'll be honest, I have not run this game yet. I have translated the RTA chart myself and have been working on it as of very recently. I'm learning this run as part of an overarching goal to run the games in the Roto Series Trilogy (DQI•II•III) in succession, so I'll be working hard on this regardless of acceptance.

Here is an example run by Pop, the DQ1 WR holder he mirrored to a file sharing site, completed in 3:09.37, I've estimated 4 hours given a more average time of 3:30 on Nico boards, and some time for things to go wrong:

UPDATE: I've since actually completed runs of this game, lol. I've been working on it for around a week, other than translating notes and a bit of practice offline, and my PB is about 41 minutes from estimate. Here's my run from last night:

As stated above, these games in succession would be a great lead in to a Dragon Quest III run as well. Thanks for your consideration. :>

Pros/Cons: Lots of RNG throughout, however most bad luck can be mitigated with skill so that you're only losing so much time. Route as a whole is extremely consistent and very marathon safe. Category: coop Any%
Gameplay Estimate: 2:45
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 10 minute to show ending
Pros/Cons:  The team will be Ghoul02, Gedrith, Kirbymastah, and me. Four player coop is relatively unique for an RPG marathon, and the four of us have great chemistry and will have plenty of friendly banter. The game has great music and can be a fun follow-up to the solo run from last year. The run is slightly longer than single player since the bosses have more health, more enemies will spawn and there’s no Moogle to carry the chalice, but 4 players allows for much faster kills on most bosses anyway. The run will have to be done on the Japanese version, which is much more marathon safe than the English run last year (and much faster due to a money exploit), but also means that the opening and ending themes are sung in Japanese. We’d request that the run be at least two days into the marathon at the earliest to allow all the runners to be able to practice together for what will be the first time. The 10th or 11th would be the best for scheduling the run.

Pros/Cons: Almost all glitches used in the run are done within the first 4 minutes with very little commentary for the rest of the run.  RNG heavy run where probability of completing a run relies on the players ability to not play poorly.  RNG has very little to do with finishing runs.  The name of the character changes a variable which determines whether certain items may or may not drop.

Game Name:Earthbound
System: SNES
Category:No Out of Bounds
Gameplay Estimate: 4:05
Ending/Bonus Estimate:0:10
Pros/Cons: This route was taken from an AGDQ 2013 run, and turned on its head. I have found glitches nobody has seen/used before and turned the route into a fun category that has differentiated itself from the normal routes people see. Skipping the Belch base entrance and things such as Tessie skip will be interesting to watch for those who have only followed the glitchless run/ Never seen a run before. The route also uses a sequence break to despawn all random encounters for about 40 minutes, which only those who have been frequenting runs would know anything about since I discovered it last year. On that same note the route is significantly safer in the later half of the run due to random encounters being a non factor. Unfortunately a downside of this run is since it is Earthbound, Onett is still a thing. Problems can still happen in the first town even with safeties, but at least any potential time loss here is not devastating.
Possible Donation Incentives: Name of all 4 characters, name of dog, name of favorite food, Ness's special power, Player name, Buy the house in Onett, Shattered Man Glitch post-game.
Sample run video: http://www.twitch.tv/falexxx1/v/29183047 This first video is a run that I took marathon safe strats and marathon incentives into account for time losses. http://www.twitch.tv/falexxx1/v/20345908 This is my current PB (3:34:36)

Game Name:Earthbound
System: SNES
Category:  Glitchless
Gameplay Estimate: 4:55:00
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 0:10
Pros/Cons: Seen in RPGLB 2015, this category is currently the most popular run for Earthbound. With no glitches used, the run experiences much of what the game has to offer and has a flow that is easy to follow. Numerous tricks are used such as "stutter stepping" and despawning of enemies to try and minimize encounters. Jeff is heavily abused for his over powered items to take down many bosses in one hit. There are many safeties that can be taken to minimize any potential time losses. However, even with the safeties the run can be unpredictable at times with occasional absurd spawn rates of enemies or an unlucky instant death attack. The game is generous with save points that can be taken in case something bad were to happen. I would love to race as well if others submit this category.
Possible Donation Incentives: Name of all 4 characters, name of dog, name of favorite food, Ness's special power, Player name, Buy the house in Onett, Shattered Man Glitch post-game.

Game Name:Final Fantasy Type-0 HD
System: PC
Category:  any% Cadet
Gameplay Estimate: 3:00:00
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 0:15-0:20
Pros/Cons: An obvious Con to this run, for me, is I still have much to improve on in the run. That said, the game is still fairly new for western audiences and this could be a good show for it for those who have not been exposed to it. The game is extremely fast paced and entertaining, with almost no breaks to the action. Even during the "slower" parts like leveling up abilities in the menu there is plenty to talk about for the audience. The game is almost entirely execution based, very little is fully rng. If I fail on something the result could be devastating in a normal run, but for marathons, the game gives ample save points before sections and time losses would be minimal if I were to mess up a boss.
Possible Donation Incentives: Beat the first Gilgamesh instead of forcing a death. The PC version also has an interesting speed up mechanic, with 2 speed settings above normal. A rolling incentive mid run could be a fun bid war to force me to play at a normal speed or faster speeds(Which, is standard for speedruns). The speed is simply toggled with a button on the controller and easy to change on the fly. English/Japanese voices could also be a bid war pre-game (English voices are comically bad).

Game Name: Legend of Mana
System: PS1
Category:  Dragon Route/ Faerie Route
Gameplay Estimate: 1:50/2:10
Ending/Bonus Estimate: n/a
Pros/Cons: A game that has been picking up some popularity in recent months, Legend of Mana is more of a gaiden of the Mana series. The game features more of a sandbox feel with placement of the worlds artifacts to make the placement of dungeons and the strength of enemies optimal for time. The game has a phenomenal sound track as well as being very ascetically pleasing with its unique art style. The pace of the game's action is quite fast as well, providing only small breaks in the action for the audience. The various routes are different stories that all end up leading to the final dungeon of the game, with Dragon being the fastest. Downsides to this run is the amount of RNG found in grinding for weapons or possible trolly bosses. However, these only amount to modest time losses, as nothing in this game is "run ending" due to the continue function. I would love to race this game as well if others submit it, and would have no problem learning Jumi route if needed.
Possible Donation Incentives: Dragon/Faerie/Jumi storyline bid war. Character gender and name. Pet name (Dragon Route, but it could be done for all routes if desired).

Game Name:Secret of Mana
System: SNES
Category:  "Glitchless
Gameplay Estimate: 4:45
Ending/Bonus Estimate: n/a
Pros/Cons: This is a "spirit of the game" category that uses no glitches or sequence breaks to play through the game as originally intended. Several tricks are used with weapon and magic levels to optimize time spent on bosses and to make the Mana Beast much faster. The run can still see significant time saves and more optimizations in the coming months and the time could go down even further. Cons for the run would be the length compared to the glitched categories, as well as the price of death. Saves can be taken before possible trouble bosses, but bad luck on a number of bosses could cause a loss of at least a few minutes. Many may also not like the predominant use of magic spamming to kill bosses, but this is the best method of killing many of them.
Possible Donation Incentives: Name of the 3 characters.

By my parents request, I'm just making a note that I'm still in high school and it would work out best if I have my runs done in the afternoon or evening (no later than 10pm) if that is possible if I'm selected.  Not my choice to make a note of this, just doing what my parents ask so.

Pros/Cons: May have some difficulty depending on some fight about half way into the game (2nd Demyx Battle, Xaldin Battle, & Xigbar Battle RNG) which can potentially make the run about an hour to 2 longer.  Pretty consistent game with overall RNG. Any% is about an 1-2 hours shorter than All Worlds, which could make up the difference with the potential time wasters.

I have played through this game probably as much as I have with Ocarina of Time, but I haven't had time to do an entire single segment run.  Due to some issues with my PS2 Disc, I cannot really provide a copy to use for the run, but might be able to provide a controller for it. Pros: One of the most popular RPGs on the PS1, praised for its beautiful soundtrack.  It has only been run in one marathon ever, the 2014 C4L marathon by Raelcun, and since then it has seen easily 1 hour of improvements.  Most improvements come from greatly improved battle strategies, improved gameplay, and some route tweaks.  The run itself has no glitches and boasts a deep battle system which is used to its full potential in the speedrun.  There are tons of interesting points to explain about the battle system as well as the story along the way.  Most normal enounters are not required and can be avoided by skillful dodging, which leads to much of the run being based around required boss fights.

Cons: The biggest risk in this game is the RNG of the stat growth, mostly around Serge's Strength.  Low stats can add a bit of risk to battles, but generally just increase the time, and I have accounted for this in the estimate.  Bad RNG on a few of the boss fights might also inflate the time a bit, but poses no risk, as you can run from all fights in this game.

Possible Donation Incentives: Good Ending.  Naming Characters (Serge, Kid, Leena, Pierre, Glenn, Sprigg, Harle, Fargo, Marcy) these are the only ones that have significant use in battle.  Some additional characters that might have naming potential (and are seen in some capacity) include (Poshul, Karsh, Radius, Riddel, Starky).  Save Kid from her coma (burning orphanage sidequest towards the end of the game).  I thought this might be an interesting incentive, since the Any% speedrun normally leaves Kid behind, but it might be a little too inline with the Good Ending incentive.

Game Name: Dragon Quest III
System: Super Famicom
Category: any%
Gameplay Estimate (excluding ending and bonus content): 3:45:00
Ending/Bonus Estimate: Standard timing always includes credits, which is about 4 minutes.

Pros:
Dragon Quest III is undoubtedly Japan's most competitive RPG speedrun, with over 150 times on the nico leaderboards with a cutoff of 4 hours to even be present on the leaderboards. The amount of routing and research that have gone into the game is extensive and dates back to pre-2010, and the fastest standard route is reflective of a large community effort. With regards to the speedrun itself, Dragon Quest III features many risk-reward situations, dynamic random battles that force the player to react quickly, and features a very tight, responsive menuing system. I'd like to emphasize how carefully planned every menu is in this game, and also generally how the player is required to react to many situations throughout the run, including dealing with character deaths, reacting to difficult boss fights, and dealing with random drops and their effects on menuing with the inventory. The game is visually impressive, features an iconic OST, and Dragon Quest III is generally regarded as one of the strongest titles in a worldwide, well-known series.

Cons:
Dragon Quest III is a difficult game, and some parts of the speedrun risk death (the Pyramid and final boss rush) or are generally random (metal slime grinding). However, certain avenues can be taken to make to make these segments safer, including some extra fights (not really grinding, just fighting some more battles instead of running, especially in Alefgard) or getting some readily available safety money for various situations (mostly more items for the metal slime grind). Additionally, one set of items can be duplicated in the bag exactly once, so extra World Leafs can be available to secure end game victory.

Possible Donation Incentives:
This game is in Japanese, however there is a well-made English patch of the game which only influences some dialogue, adding perhaps 7-8 minutes to gameplay time. I'll gladly play either. English version would be much better suited to include donation incentives for character names, which immediately join the party and remain throughout the entire game.

Game Name: Final Fantasy XII
System: PS2
Category: Any% (Solo or Co-op with Sk84uhlivin/Aleck)
Gameplay Estimate: 7:15:00
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 20:00

Pros: Final Fantasy XII has come a long way since last seen in a major marathon (C4L 2013): The English WR has come down by over an hour, the run has become much more consistent, with enough backup strats to make completing a run in a good amount of time nearly certain, and there is even less grinding than before as well! In addition, there is plenty to talk about during these grinding segments as we know so much more about the game in general.
Cons: That said, there is still a decent amount of grinding (roughly an hour) and it is still a long run. Deaths are less likely, but possible, and the estimate figures in the potential of a costly death, but saving and careful play should avoid this.

This is the Xillia Crew's next crazy 4 player coop run. The game is a fast paced RPG/Beat-em-up hybrid with fantastic artwork and is a another great game by Atlus.  Would be run by Myself, Osey, TWM, and PX, with Ghoul as backup and additional commetary.

Pros: Beautiful looking game, Fast Paced, 4 player coop, almost no downtime, will be played on one console for easy setup, the monty python jokes.
Cons: Has a fair bit of lewd looking artwork thats very suggestive but not on screen for long, Final Boss can be wipe the party costing 5+ mins (accounted for in estimate).
Possible Donation Incentives: 4 Names (one for each player), Choosing the 4th player class

Game Name: Evoland 2
System: PC
Category: Any%
Gameplay Estimate: 5:15:00
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 0:00

This is the sequel to the Evoland game run last year, and they went all out on taking the theory of the game and running with it, creating a really fun game to play and watch.
Pros: The jokes and references, they are PLENTIFUL, even more so than in the first game. Quite a few fun and weird glitches and skips as part of the run, at least in the current version being run. More RPGish than the first as well, and shows off quite a few other genres along the way, including but not limited to: Platforming, Tactics RPG, Chrono Trigger-style RPG, Shoot Em Up, Beat Em Up, Fighting, and even Bejeweled-style, making it a very diverse run.
Cons: While there is no grinding, there are a couple rather lengthy portions of the run that can drag on (Namely the Chrono Trigger and Fire Emblem-esque segments), but the action does continue at a decent clip even then. In addition, there is a bit of nebulous thoughts about which version of the game to use right now: the older version has a few big skips, but is more difficult and has a bad tendency to crash that I'm working on solutions for, while the newer version has some easier bosses and is much more stable, but the large skips are removed. It is also probably a bit long for a not especially well-known game (which is tragic IMO, but still true).
Possible Donation Incentives: Naming the Four main characters, getting someone (*coughMetaSigmacough*) to voice the announcer in the Arena, possible Glitch Showcase

Sample Run Video: Not my video, but this is a good example of a fairly solid run.

Gameplay Estimate: 6:15:00 (may go down)
Ending/Bonus Estimate: ~17:00 for the ending

Pros/Cons: FF13 is a very fast paced game, and the action comes fast and furious, there is only a very small amount of farming in the early game, and for the most part this turns into rushing through the game as quickly as possible, dodging around the numerous enemies you encounter. This would be submitted as a backup in case Lewd cannot make it, but I would be happy to run it in the communities place if none of the excellent people that have been routing this since its release are able to make it.
Possible Donation Incentives: Sing the ending song......? Need to work on other incentives.

Pros: FFX is a rather popular game in the franchise, well known for its battle system and characters, and a big bonus for this is its marathon safety and ability to fill a lot of time, and this run has been very heavily optimized with some fun to watch strategies. Oh, and you get to actually SEE the story in the speedrun, that's cool!
Cons: Unfortunately, most of the Pros can also be seen as cons, as its a VERY long game.

Pros/Cons: Pros – The game is pretty well remembered, but mainly for all of the things we will be skipping (e.g., dialogue). The route has been improved by several minutes since RPGLB, and is a bit safer except for one trick (practice will alleviate this). Cons – KotOR 1 was run at the last RPGLB. Some of the tricks are hardware dependent, so I'd have to get a feeling for how the game performs on a different PC. However, I could bring my laptop to reduce this concern.
Possible Donation Incentives: Main Character gender and name (18 character max.), Bastila vs. Bastila, Kill Darth Revan (+30 seconds), Dance Dance Malak (+1 minute)
Sample run video: link to current WR

Game Name: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 – the Sith Lords
System: PC
Category: Any%
Gameplay Estimate: 1:30 (moderately safe)
Ending/Bonus Estimate: nothing of value that isn't already in the route
Pros/Cons: Pros – Much bigger skips than KotOR 1, and thus a shorter estimate to boot. Cons – Slower start to the run, and the game itself was less well received than KotOR 1 because of its buggy gameplay. The engine for this game is the same as KotOR 1, so I'd have to get a feeling for how the game performs on a different PC. And again, I could bring my laptop to reduce this concern.
Possible Donation Incentives: Main character gender and name (18 characters) (estimate shouldn't have to change based on gender)

Games are listed in order of preference, but it's a very small separation between the two.

Game Name: Soul Blazer
System: Super Nintendo
Category: Any% (US Version)
Gameplay Estimate: 1:50:00
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 13:00
Pros/Cons: First of the Enix SNES Action RPG trilogy. Fast paced gameplay with tight execution.  Main sources of RNG come from gem drops and a Jerk Bird boss near the end of the game.  Cutscenes are longer in the US version, but still not too bad, and the speedrun shows off the high skill ceiling very well with manipulating enemy movements to keep them in specific locations for quick kills.
Possible Donation Incentives: File Name, Get the Magic Bell
Sample run video: http://www.twitch.tv/stingerpa/v/30857068 (Japanese version, will obtain the English version shortly.  US version is 9 minutes slower due to text speeds. Will improve significantly)

Game Name: Secret of Mana
System: Super Nintendo
Category: Any% Co-op with BowietheHero
Gameplay Estimate: 2:05:00
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 7:00
Pros/Cons: Last year featured myself doing a 1p2c run, but now you get to see what two strong players are capable of together. This speedrun lets both players work together to move your characters in a way that one person could never dream of. Bowie hasn't been running the game for long, but he's learning fast, and loves this game to death.  There will be no problems with him being ready for the event.  We will not be able to practice together at all until the event, though, so we would require consideration for later in the week so we can practice together ahead of time.
Possible Donation Incentives: Naming the Boy and Sprite, Save/Kill the Resistance
Sample run video: http://www.twitch.tv/stingerpa/c/6056557 (this is a pre-recorded co-op run with myself and Yagamoth commentating)
Game Name: Earthbound
System: SNES
Category: All Photos
Gameplay Estimate: 3:55
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 20:00
Pros/Cons: A happy mix of Earthbound Glitchless and Earthbound Any%, the closest Earthbound will probably ever get to a glitched 100% category. This run allows you to take advantage of the glitches that have been discovered in the game such as moving out of bounds and clipping through walls but still requires you to get all of the photos throughout the game (all 32 of them). Many photos require certain events to occur beforehand so it still requires you to play through a good chunk of the game, albeit in a heavily glitched manner.
Possible Donation Incentives: There are certain glitches that are executed a bit more easily with one character names, but we can definitely work around that to allow for naming all characters. Additonally, we can name the player, and of course, pose for the final picture of the run that gets taken of the player during the credits.
Sample run video:

Game Name: Earthbound
System: SNES
Category: Any% Glitchless
Gameplay Estimate: 4:55
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 20:00
Pros/Cons: Well known RPG that sports excellent dialog, great mechanics, and a wonderful story. This is by far the most popular category for the game as it plays through the entire game. Features lots of interesting mechanics such as taking advantage of the rolling HP meter to keep characters alive, exploiting the enemy spawn algorithm to avoid certain spawns entirely, and strategic teleporting through slow/enemy-heavy areas.
Possible Donation Incentives: Naming (four characters, dog, favorite thing, favorite food, player's name), getting the bike, possibly one for showing off RNG manipulation, although that would have to take place after as it requires that Ness have a one character long name.
Sample run video:

Game Name: Earthbound Beginnings
System: WiiU VC
Category: Any%
Gameplay Estimate: 3:35
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 10:00
Pros/Cons: The original Mother game, finally released in the US this past year. It has a very Dragon Warrior-esque feel and features only a few grinding sequences that add up to maybe 45 minutes or so throughout the run. They're broken up so it doesn't get too repetitive for a speedrun.
Possible Donation Incentives: Naming the different characters (Ninten, Lloyd, Ana)

Hey everyone!

Even though I have been hyped for the submission thread for a while now it took me some time to actually make sure I can submit my games. So here they are in order of preference:

Game Name: Landstalker - The Treasures of King Nole
System: Sega Genesis/Mega Drive (!!--> I play the Steam Version with a Xbox 360 controller for PC using the stick. I cannot play this with D-Pad...)
Category: English Any% - Thundersword route
Gameplay Estimate: 2:20/2:25
Pros/Cons: A very executionheavy, fastpaced zeldaesque 2D-isometric action-RPG not everyone can handle. It received high scores especially for its music but is not that well known unfortunately. Scrubathon IV showed that I can make it very marathonsave. The estimate accounts for really bad bossrng and potential drop-downs which cost a couple of minutes. It will remind many people of Alundra for the PS1. There are no negatives about this game but then again I am really biased and really love this game.
Possible Donation Incentives: Showing the Witch's Hut-sidequest which takes less than 10 Minutes. Also I could make some perlerthingies? Maybe include gathering every piece of equipment but that would probably add +30 minutes to the run (Haven't tried a full equipmentrun yet.)
Sample run video: http://www.twitch.tv/elmagus/v/29889456

EDIT: Woohoo Jiseed submitted PSIV! Thought he wouldn't go to RPG Limitbreak 2k16. So you can ignore my submissions below. I only made it as far as Lashiec as I haven't completed a full run yet because of time issues. Should I manage to get gud at a full run and if Jiseed is up to it I would be more than happy to race him. Even though we all know who probably would win. Wink
(Game Name: Phantasy Star IV - The End of the Millenium
System: Sega Genesis/Mega Drive (I play the Steam version but console should be fine too)
Category: Zio% - Potential for a race with Squidfeatures if he is up to it as he mentioned it to me some time back.
Gameplay Estimate: 1:15
Pros/Cons: One of the best JRPGs out there. The genremix between fantasy and sci-fi is amazing. Also the music is just glorious. The run is quite RNG-heavy but we managed to find ways to make it save-ish. Story is really captivating with little text-cutscenes.
Possible Donation Incentives: I could do some more perlers? Smiley
Sample run video:

Game Name: Phantasy Star IV - The End of the Millenium
System: Sega Genesis/Mega Drive (I play the Steam version but console should be fine too)
Category: Lashiec% (I still need to practice the game or even finish a full run but I could manage a Lasiec% run with "old" strats. Haven't got the time to watch Jiseed's strats.)
Gameplay Estimate: 3:00
Pros/Cons: One of the best JRPGs out there. The genremix between fantasy and sci-fi is amazing. Also the music is just glorious. The run is quite RNG-heavy but we managed to find ways to make it save-ish. Story is really captivating with little text-cutscenes.
Possible Donation Incentives: I could do some more perlers? Smiley
Sample run video: I don't have one yet but I will focus on PSIV a bit more in the future.)

Game Name: Breath of Fire
System: SNES/Wii U VC
Category: Any%
Gameplay Estimate: 6:00:00
Pros/Cons: Classic SNES RPG from Capcom, easy to understand, and the small optimizations make it interesting to watch. The beginning can be trying with bad RNG, and there is a small risk of a softlock on the last boss. Usage of a few items (StarSH/EarthRB) can make the end of the game extremely reliable.
Possible Donation Incentives: Character name (4 characters), Chun Li cameo(s).
Sample run video: http://www.twitch.tv/jiseed/c/4286199

Game Name: Phantasy Star IV - The End of the Millennium
System: Genesis/PC Steam
Category: Any%/100%
Gameplay Estimate: 4:30:00/5:30:00
Pros/Cons: One of, if not the greatest RPG on the Genesis. Plays a lot more like a classic SNES RPG compared to the other installments in the Phantasy Star series. RNG can be quite difficult to deal with at times, but the estimate includes possible time losses to every single boss that could be an issue. 100% is defined as all hunter missions, all android attachments, all areas "cleared", town list filled out and getting megid for Chaz. This category disguises necessary experience grinding as content, and will generally finish with a much higher level than any%, and is therefore a bit safer.
Possible Donation Incentives: Any% vs 100%, Getting Megid (any%), Crash the game using the Macro system.
Sample run video:

Game Name: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1
System: PS Vita/PC Steam
Category: Any%/Any% No DLC
Gameplay Estimate: 1:45:00/2:05:00
Pros/Cons: A simple, yet great game that has many features that lend itself to speedrunning. All text and attack animations can be skipped, allowing for a fairly quick clear time. The run is extremely safe, and there are an abundance of save points around just in case. The lack of animations can be seen as taking a little away from the game, but they can be added back which increases the estimate by 1:00, but I will only do the EXE drive animations once per character as they take up the most time. No DLC adds a bit more character variety and interesting strategies, but takes away the opportunity to show off the coliseum glitch as well as adds a bit of RNG at the start of the game.
Possible Donation Incentives: English/Japanese voice rolling incentive, Bid on who leads the party (when applicable), DLC vs No DLC.
Sample run video:

Game Name: Phantasy Star II
System: Genesis/PC Steam/Wii VC
Category: Any%
Gameplay Estimate: 1:15:00
Pros/Cons: Another great Genesis rpg, and one that has been completely broken to boot. This normally 10+ hour RPG gets blown through in a fraction of the time by utilizing an inventory underflow along with other glitches. We get to keep Nei. Completely safe, as I can create a mobile saving device right at the beginning of the game to deal with the tricky parts that appear. That being said, it is a lot of walking and menuing without random encounters in dungeons. Human error can cause a ton of issues (miscounting the spots in the expanded inventory can be disastrous). Dark Falz can be a complete troll and can often stonewall a run.
Possible Donation Incentives: Turn Nei's name into boxes, Rudo/Amy's names (4 Chars), get Nei's HP into hex values.
Sample run video:

Game Name: Infinity Engine: Enhanced Edition bid war (bonus)
System: PC
Category: Any%
Gameplay Estimate: 30:00 (For Icewind Dale)
Pros/Cons: I will offer this up as a bonus run only. A bid war between the three games that are currently out in the enhanced edition format. All three games showcase virtually every glitch that is possible with the infinity engine. Extremely safe, and are all interesting watches. The runs are very involved if done quickly so I'll probably need a hand with commentary. Pillars of Eternity is also an option here.
Possible Donation Incentives: BG1 vs BG2:SoA vs IWD, Character name/gender, possible custom portrait?
Sample run video(s):

Game Name: Final Fantasy IV
System (Include both original system and system you plan to play on, if different): SNES
Category (Any%, 100%, Glitchless, etc): Any%
Gameplay Estimate (excluding ending and bonus content): 2h 15m
Ending/Bonus Estimate (ending + any glitches/other bonus content you'd like to show post-run): 20m
Pros/Cons (honest assessment based on above submission guidelines): Echoing Roth's submission, FF4 no 64 was already in RPGLB last year and will be at the end of AGDQ this year, so it's gotten a lot of screen time of late. However, there've been a number of marked improvements to the any% route that haven't been showcased too much outside of smaller marathons like DeuceCon.
Possible Donation Incentives: See Roth's post
Sample run video (strongly encouraged but not required): http://www.twitch.tv/neerrm/v/20249146

I'm only submitting this to be a backup for Roth. In the event the game gets in, he should be the one running it if he can make it.
So I pulled out a much better time for Inindo, Way of the Ninja and figured I should resubmit with the new time for a few reasons. Actually I went into the run wanting to see what my time would be if everything went wrong. Everything went right instead and I got a single segment for once.

I am in the process of trying to see what would happen if I kept all the worst RNG I could get, and finish the game that way. The run is a fairly new run, so I've only done around 50 or so runs up to this point. My new time was 6:04.30, which was a 36 minute time gain. So with that being said; I will be practicing to see how bad the run could end up being in a marathon setting, which would likely change the estimate to a much lower time by Summer.

I just thought that might be a pretty important factor as far as the schedule goes, as my current PB is about 2 hours under the time estimate I gave. So by Summer I could have as much as an hour lower in my estimate. So far the 8 hour estimate is still the most solid estimate I can give based off of the wide variety of RNG I could end up facing in the run. With the 6 month time period I have plenty of time to practice and work on my commentary.

So here is the new submission

Game Name: Inindo, Way of the Ninja
System: SNES
Category: any% RTA
Gameplay Estimate: 8:00
Ending/Bonus Estimate: The ending adds a little over 5 minutes to the run

Pros/Cons: Cons-There's just a heavy amount of RNG in the game. I've taken as long as an hour trying to get one ally I need to finish the game. War time can be a disaster due to the randomness of you sabotaging vs. your opponents sabotaging abilities. War also has a few other things that could go wrong that I would address in the run. Then finally the Oda fight could be pretty random to try and beat, but I would make it less random in a marathon by gaining some extra levels

Pros-this is kind of becoming my pet project so while I do want a good run, I'm still going to practice what happens when things go badly a lot. So to kind of lazily quote myself. Inindo is an extremely fun game where you get to play as a ninja. Level ups restore your health and energy (HP and MP). Saves can be used to manipulate RNG. Then just like I posted before, I can create two back-up saves to manipulate RNG for the opening cut scene and one for getting proper allies when I need them

Possible Donation Incentives: The only ones I can think of right now are having a nameless character, or just a flat out character name bidding war. The 100% category could also be run, but I'd have to be notified of interest in it a couple of months in advance to find out if it would add a half hour or an hour

Sample run video:

The rest of the specifics of the run are in this video and in my commentary on the game in the SDA forums under older consoles

Dsharper: 2015-12-16 09:49:58 pm
Game Name: Final Fantasy X-2 NA
System: Playstation 2
Category: Any% NA
Gameplay Estimate: 4hours 15 minutes
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 15 minutes for incentives, 15 minutes for cutscenes + credits after final boss
Cons: the NA run of FFX-2 is dangerous.  Most bosses past the 1 hour mark of the run can kill you with bad RNG. This can be played around with safety saves and proper execution can mitigate bad RNG
Pros: very fun run. cutscenes are skipped so most of the run is fights, menuing or running to another fight.  The only large downtime is in chapter 4 on an unskippable mission for about 10-15 minutes
Possible Donation Incentives: Kill the superboss Trema with an alternate save.(may not be able to even with 15 minutes as he is a troll) Guess which pedastle will open the door to Ixion (there are 5), Sing 1000 words along with Yuna during the concert at the end of chapter 4. Coach an audience member into killing a simple boss (most likely a stunlock boss in Ch1 or uniform 1, will safety save before), watch the "good" cutscene after uniform 1 where they go swimming in the hotspring.
Video: http://www.twitch.tv/dsharper/c/6816660 my PB, the time is 25 minutes faster than my estimate but this is to account for bad rng, any time left over at the end can be used to show optional bosses throughout the game which I have saves for
Highly Evolved
Game Name: Dokapon Kingdom
System: Wii
Category:  Story Mode
Gameplay Estimate: 3:30
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 10 minutes max

This game is a thing.  Most people in my stream describe it as Mario Party + Monopoly + RPG.  The back of the box describes the game as "The Friendship-Destroying Game!"  There is a lot of randomness involved in this game, with a lot of craziness involved.  Game battle mechanics are based on a trilogy of physical-magical-critical hits with corresponding defenses.  Unique run.  Lots of things can happen.  Game is designed to make you mad at any given opportunity.  Time has come down a good chunk since last year.  NEW STRATS!

Donation stuff:

Characters are very customizable.  I think the character limit is around 20-24 for a name.  Player can choose sex, job (for a speedrun, has to be specific, so this one's out), color, and face.  Now incentives to have voice on.  AI character has similar incentives with the exception of name.  Can have donation for three different hairstyles with the possibility of running into 3 more possible styles.

Fyi I added another game to my submission after brief discussion with the co op runners. The description is the same as gedrith, and I'm running it with ghoul02, gedrith, ourolen
Game Name: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
System: Gamecube played on Wii
Category: coop Any%
Gameplay Estimate: 2:45
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 10 minute to show ending
Pros/Cons:  The team will be Ghoul02, Ourolen, Kirbymastah, and me.
Possible Donation Incentives: Naming characters (4) and city
Sample run:

Game Name: Lord of the Rings: War in the North
System: PC
Category: coop Any%
Gameplay Estimate: 2:30:00
Ending/Bonus Estimate: none, nothing to show off
Pros/Cons: The runners are Ckarl_Bobadine, KN4life, and me. War in the North is a hack and slash RPG that is fast paced and entertaining game. The game starts with us using a inventory glitch to get infinite money to get the best gear possible throughout the run. The game however is rather linear and the net code for multiplayer is not great at syncing up everyone so some funny animation issues can happen.
Possible Donation Incentives: none right now

Everything's better with Magitek
Game Name: Child of Light
System: PS3
Category: any% (possibly co-op with the -ssentia clan)
Gameplay Estimate: 2:10:00
Ending/Bonus Estimate: ~3 minutes for ending, ~10 minutes for credits
Pros/Cons: Vulajin explained this pretty well. I've recently been working on creating a safer route that would work in a marathon. My daughters Celise and Laurelyn love this game, and if it works out, I would like to do this run co-op with them taking turns being Igniculus (the helper firefly that can open chests and slow enemies in battle). If needed, I could even have Denton be the helper in some of the harder fights.
Possible Donation Incentives: Color of Aurora's dress (normal, light, or dark)
Sample run video: I haven't had a chance to record a video. You can watch the WR run on http://www.speedrun.com/col to get an idea, but my route will be different (mainly picking up and equipping a bunch of oculi along the way to make battles safer).

Game Name: Undertale
System: PC
Category: True pacifist ending
Gameplay Estimate: 2:15:00
Ending/Bonus Estimate: ~10 minutes for pacifist ending, ? bonus stuff (depends on incentives)
Pros/Cons: This run starts from a no-reset file and aims to get the pacifist (best) ending by not killing any enemies. The pacifist ending is impossible to get on a first playthrough, so the run gets the neutral ending first, restarts the game, then completes the rest of the requirements to get the pacifist ending. Cons would be skipping most of the entertaining cutscenes and battles that this game is known for, although there could be donation incentives for showing some of these.
Possible Donation Incentives: Name the fallen human, watch the opera (normally skipped in a speedrun), possibly watch other cutscenes or boss battles, show off Sans fight in genocide route
Sample run video: I streamed a run of this a little while ago but unfortunately didn't highlight it (it was a pretty bad run anyway). You can watch the WR run on http://www.speedrun.com/undertale/#True_Pacifist_Ending1 - my run will be pretty much the same.

*It's been noted that this game's creator, Toby Fox, has said that he doesn't want this game in a GDQ. If this run is accepted, I will seek his permission to run this at RPGLB.

Game Name: Final Fantasy VI (Japanese version)
System: SFC played on SNES
Category: Any% (2p2c co-op with puwexil)
Gameplay Estimate: 4:50:00

Category: Glitchless Any% or 100% (2p2c co-op with puwexil)
Gameplay Estimate: 5:50 (Glitchless Any%), 7:30 (Glitchless 100%)
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 0:23 for the ending
Pros/Cons: Again, I haven't run these categories for a while, but I could easily pick them up. See puwexil's submission for more info.
Possible Donation Incentives: See puwexil's submission.
Sample run video: 100% glitchless co-op run puwexil and I did at SGDQ 2014, I don't have a video of my own for glitchless any%

Game Name: Final Fantasy IV -Interlude-
System: PSP
Category: any%
Gameplay Estimate: 0:35:00
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 2 minutes
Pros/Cons: This short story is supposed to link FFIV with the After Years. This would be more of a silly RPG run, with bosses such as Dad Bomb and quotes like "The baby is out!" Cons include lots of use of auto-battle, and veeeerrry slow airships.
Possible Donation Incentives: Choice between arranged or original background music from FFIV

Game Name: Final Fantasy V
System: SNES
Category: any% (eng translation)
Gameplay Estimate: 4:30, it's somewhat conservative but I'd rather be safe than sorry
Ending/Bonus: Ending is around 23 minutes. If optional bosses are done, would need to add another 10-20 minutes.
Pros: A reasonably popular snes FF game that would fit well among its peers.  While some glitches are used, the run is ultimately all about AP routing and cool uses of most jobs.  There is a lot of execution to show off between menus and step routes. Pretty marathon safe due to there being little RNG and lots of places to safety save. Grinding isn't a thing for the most part. Also hasn't been seen in a major marathon in quite some time. With four and six having seen a lot of love lately, why not 5?
Cons: Since it never got a snes US release, FF5 isn't quite as nostalgic as FF4 and 6. First hour is somewhat slow, but does pick up from there. However, there are still a couple of spots with long cutscenes. Most potential donation incentives that I've thought of seem to inflate the run time significantly (such as optional bosses).
Possible Donation Incentives: Naming Butz. Possibly piano flexing. Upon further thought, I will offer gilgamesh appearances and neo-exdeath as well. It may not be my cup of tea, but the marathon isn't about me.
Sample run video: This is my PB from August. I had hoped to use my scrubathon IV run, but it won't take place until the 20th.

Game Name: Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
System: SNES
Category: any%
Gameplay Estimate: 2:20
Ending/Bonus: The ending is short... maybe 6 minutes
Pros/Cons: Well, this game was run at RPGLB and C4L, so it's a bit much to ask to accept it again. However, I am calling out all of my MQ brothers in order to offer a RACE. Blindfolded solo runs are cool, but there is nothing quite like a race of the one game that is all skill. It's a fun game that many know, and the fans love seeing us suffer. Real talk though, we all know there is a lot of RNG, which has equal potential to either create a good race, or create a wide lead for a runner.  As for racers, I won't put words in anyone's mouth even though they said they'd be down... except for FERALPIGMAN who should be editing his post since he wouldn't want me to look dumb D:
Possible Donation Incentives: Naming the main character multiple times over
Sample run video: I can offer up my PB and a link to the latest race that I know of from GSH fundraiser. We will obviously be PG at Limit Break.

*Not sure if it's appropriate without the standard submission format, but I am willing to be a backup for FF4 and PS4 in case roth/neerrm/jiseed cannot attend. I do have pb's for both games
