N64 Banjo-Tooie any%/100%

All resets I use mark the end of the segment where I use them. There are only two resets where I wouldn't just save and quit after the cutscene, these spots keep me at the same location when I load the file again (I think it's a glitch).

1) Right after getting the first Jiggy from Jingaling, I reset just as Bottles' house is shown (after the game auto-saves). When I load the file again I start at the cutscene where Banjo is walking out of the Throne Room.

2) After finishing the Tower of Tragedy quiz, I reset just as the credits start to roll (it auto-saves here). When I load the file again I start at the next cutscene in the Gun Chamber.

If any of that breaks the rules let me know so I can change it.

Good luck with the run Pjiii. I'm not sure if those are glitches or not, especially since the game puts you at the gun chamber after the credits if I remember correctly after the credits are done.

I said I would try to keep you guys updated with my progress, so here's an update.

I've finished the first 5 segments. Segments 1, 2, 3 and 5 were cake. Segment 4 took over two weeks to finish, which was expected due to the randomness involved with it. Progress is slow, but the quality should benefit from this in the end.

I'll probably post another update after I've finished segment 11. I just wanted to let you guys know that I started the run.

P.S. Those flies near Bovina, I freaking hate them. Angry

Okay... I've beaten the Any% Cheat Codes Allowed run but I've since been told that SDA no longer accepts runs on this category. I feel like either my run should be accepted or that the existing run should be removed. I don't think it's exactly fair to just leave it there. Anyone I should talk to about this?

Even if your run can be accepted via grandfather clause, you still need to submit the run and have it looked over by verifiers before we accept it. Welcome to SDA.

Yeah. Excellent. I think I can get an even better time though first. (Maybe a low 00:52:5x.) I'll submit it for verification then.

So I did some digging, because I knew I'd seen it on the forum somewhere, but I finally found the post where Mike said this category was not open to new submissions. (Read through the rest of that topic at your peril!)

Having said that, given it was considered analogous to the scripts debate for PC games, and those runs have since been removed from the site, it only makes sense that this one should be removed too.

I distinctly remember hearing the same thing that mike89 just said. Don't submit a run for this unless you explicitly hear from mikwuyma or Flip that it is ok. Strongfox is not an authority.

Don't listen to Strongfox. Runs on the Cheato cheats category are not allowed. Personally, I think that the current run should be removed, especially if mike89 (the runner) doesn't have a problem with it.

I've been watching the run and it probably shouldn't be there, or at most it should stay until a proper any% is done. Fun run to watch though. I wasn't familiar with the JiggyWiggySpecial. The only Cheato codes I wouldn't be against using are the ones he gives you for returning his pages as those would sort of be upgrades but those aren't allowed (along with the fact that you'd have to do even more backtracking).

Sorry for any confusion I've caused. Hopefully someone is still working on this great game...

Dude, I'm still working on my run... Should I post updates every week even if I haven't made any progress? I have made progress since my last update, but I'm only up to segment 9; I wanted to get to segment 12 before I posted another one. Seriously though, the only reason I'm going to stop this run is because I've finished it.

I finally finished segment 9 today. I'm very happy to be done with that one. I was only able to finish two attempts out of like a week+ worth of attempts. Whatever, it's all good for now. I'm going to start practicing segment 10 tomorrow.

To give you guys some perspective of my progress I've counted how many segments this run will contain, which is 36 (assuming I counted correctly). My longest segment is 25+ minutes long and my shortest is less than a minute. The halfway point in the run is probably around segments 22-25.

No luck so far... I usually can't get but a few minutes in before random chance kills the attempt. When I'm lucky enough to get to the end of the segment Lord Woo Fak Fak almost always gives me a bad boil pattern, which can easily add 20+ seconds to the fight.

I'll get it eventually. Undecided
