If you do that, it should be the last run in the video, and someone should make a little song about how the audience just watched the whole damn video.

without thinking about it too much I would suggest Pokey's OoT run, 9:17 to 9:26, it shows a cool trick to a super slide around a corner. (not sure if thats the right terminology)

Their are other slides in the run iirc which might be better but they are a visually interesting trick that you dont have to understand why they are happening, Just that its funny.

For TJ & E, if you want to bother including this run (I wouldn't blame anyone if you didn't), my suggested clips are: 1) jumping over the gap in Level 9 at about 6:25-6:31; [Note: this is such a short clip, it might be best not to use it at all unless you're doing some kind of quick-clip montage] 2) Most of Level 10, starting at about 7:15 until about 7:40; 3) All of Level 14 at about 10:50 to about 11:10 ; and 4) All of Level 22 at about 18:00 to about 18:20.  Btw, these times are from my copy; hopefully Nate chopped the video at about the same frames as I did, but if not the times may be slightly off.

For suggestions 2, 3, and 4, I would use only one or two of these because they are all strikingly similar.  If I had to rate them, I'd say Clip 4 is the best.  Clip 2 shows a more difficult route to pull off, so that's good, but Clip 3 will probably be easier for most people to follow.

If you used three of these four clips (such as #'s 1,2, and 4), that would spend about 45-50 seconds of video.  Two (such as #'s 1 and 4) would be around 25-30 seconds.

I'm going to start watching the Batman run to look for some clips, if any ...

Sorry for the double post.  Here are some Batman Arkham Asylum candidate clips:

1) Beating on some thugs at the Batmobile [23:00-23:20]
2) Laying the explosive-gel trap for the ambushing thugs [36:20-36:50]  (humorous clip, but we should probably trim out some of it to make it quicker)
3) Very cool strategy for knocking out almost all of the thugs in the library [47:20-48:05]
4) Perfect fighting against thugs [61:08-61:28]
5) Pass on the Zsasz boomerang clip.  Quick, but nothing exceptional about it.
6) Perfect fighting plus some quick gliding [62:30-63:00]
7) While the double titan fight in Botanical Gardens was pretty quick for a titan fight, it's still kind of lumbering action, so I guess I'd pass on that clip.
8) I guess there was not much special about the run during the section at Croc's Lair.  I guess we could just use a short clip from it somewhere [like 99:10-99:40]
9) We could still use the gliding shortcut outside the batcave (107:15-107:30) but it's really just gliding without much action, or even that much to look at.
10) Instead of the Botanical Gardens titan fight, it might be a good idea to use the Pre-Joker titan fight [124:30-126:00]

Out of these, I'd say the best options are 2, 3, 6, and 10.

And out of those, my favorites are 3 and 6.  (2 needs some editing and is basically just a quick clip best suited for a montage.  10 is a bit long.)  Together, they would spend about a minute and fifteen seconds.

For Shadows of the Empire I recommend this one the most:

Segment 8 (1:36-3:01) - Out-of-bounds to get key early + really good gameplay. If you want you could end it earlier at 2:06, or take it all the way to the end of the level where I skip the level's boss @ 4:21. Just depends on how long you want the clip to be. The end of teh level is really cool, so if 1:36-4:21 is not too long then I suggest that.

These two are good too:

Segment 5 (6:56-7:08) - Out-of-bounds to skip AT-ST fight.
Segment 6 (0:49-1:27) - Full speed swoop bike through narrow town, passing a bunch of NPC's

And from Pokey's Ocarina of Time Any% SS:

(0:18:00-0:18:15) - Superslide teleport in graveyard (for Shadow Temple early).

You can suggest a clip even though it's not released yet if it's already been accepted.

3) Prinny: Can I really be a hero?:  To be honest I don't know any defining moments from this game, but I'm suggesting it since we had three separate PSP games submitted this year and it would be a kicker to including stuff from all three games.

I wonder though if GTA4 should also get an honorable mention.

Do you have any clips to suggest for these?

For Prinny I would suggest the final Boss "Sir Sweet 2" starting at 2:07 on the Sweet Garden Level here: http://speeddemosarchive.com/demo.pl?PrinnyCIRBTH_hard

The rest of the game is really impressive if you've played it but this one really stands out to me and I think it has universal appeal so it would be good for those who haven't played it. The boss has a real lengthy attack rotation and you don't even see all of it here. He only gets one charged attack off which is pretty incredible. It's a great display of memorisation and pure button mashing. He does the double damage air attacks when it's safe and you can see in the bottom left that he still has all 1000 lives.

Good question Zenic... Let me send a message over to Mr. Xarugas and I'll see if he has anything to mention...

As I said before, GTA IV may deserve an honorable mention, but with that said, I can't really say which clip to use...  The run was good, but can't say what part is the best...  If anything else, I would probably bother the runner himself to see if he wants to be mentioned... err... let me send him a message too...

Edit: I got word from SCM on youtube... He said that he would be alright to use the run, but he is going to check to see what is the "highlight" of the run...  Also thank you Flicky...

Thanks for informing me of this MAS. Smiley

For Half-Minute Hero, i definitely agree with Hero 3 since it's the toughest and most ridiculous game mode the game has to offer. 00:07-00:45 showcases the entire run until the time results screen, but i'm thinking 00:09-00:39 could look better in a compilation video since it's exactly 30 seconds. I'll leave it to the video editors to pick which one would look better on vid.

As for Prinny, the Sir Sweet fight is too long for the allowed clip duration, and IMO the boss fight doesn't showcase the game's famed difficulty, nor gives an impression on how a speedrun of the game looks. My suggestion is Segment 8 00:19 - 00:51, which shows a run through some very tough enemy arrangements and finishes with the awesome-looking cliff slide.

EDIT: segment 8, not 9. My bad
Well, if it's not too late to suggest clips, here's some parts in my Pikmin 2 run I think would be good:

Part 8, 44:50-46:00 (Titan Dweevil fight)
Part 8, 22:49-23:04 (Pileated Snagret fight)
Highly Evolved

I don't have the time stamp on it so I'm doing what was asked not to, then.

The Magma boss in Chapter 3, Dungeon 2 would be my selection from Startropics.

so pro u don't even know
If you end up using MTPO, I would suggest something from the IL table which was recently verified.

Piston Honda 2 and Super Macho Man are both pretty impressive and you could just show from the start of the fight to the first knockdown. Around 8 - 10 seconds real-time for each.
Sonical!
My Sonic Advance run as Knuckles shows a really cool glitch which could be included. I would recommend a clip from 9:50 to 10:27 (it would start when the act starts and would finish when Knuckles activates the checkpoint) of this video.

As for other runs, Pokey's speedrun of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has several great moments:
- Getting Bombchus early in Bottom of the Well.
- Skipping the Door of Time as a child and then as an adult.
- Hovering to the Fishing Pond and stealing the fishing rod.
- Going over the broken Gerudo Bridge.
Out of those four, I think that the second and the fourth are the most suitable in this case.

Alright then... I got word back from Mr. SCM...  I have been chatting with him on youtube and after two days of analyzing his run he came to a decision...  And I quote...

"Alright, i think it is: Part 31 youtube 8:45-9:07 (70 part, as SDA segment 1:05-1:25)"

I just rewatched that part and all I can say is, "HOLY SHIT!"  The execution of this mission is just jaw dropping... First he drops a grenade to take out the first car... Then from there, he steps out of the car and fires a rocket to take out the 2nd car... Granted if you want to do the whole segment you could since it is under 2 minutes and can briefly explain the fun history of the GTA IV verification...  otherwise, it is 20 seconds of pure pwnage...

SCM if you are reading this, again thank you for allow me to talk with you and to hopefully get this clip added onto the magfest video...  Just want to make sure that those who had some great runs get the recognition they deserve...

If we are still discussing what clips to add to the magfest video, I got a two more suggestions...

1) Besides half-minute hero, there was also one other run that was under a minute...  and it was even more contriversial than the GTA IV verification...  You know what I'm talking about... I nominate SDA's 1st flash game speed run, YOU HAVE TO BURN THE ROPE!  again, no reason to tell the time since it is under a minute (not counting the credits)...  Reason should be self-explanatory, first flash speed run (or from what I saw in the comments) and how this had split the SDA community in two...

2) Besides the suggestions already made for the Megaman games thus far, there is one other suggestion I would like to make, although this could stretch it a bit, but hear me out...  As I advertised on the mega man forums, I actually made a set of videos that was ran by Mega Destructor 9...

http://www.youtube.com/user/mas8705#grid/user/458A6CE2DFE03D9C

basically it is the speed run, but without all the pausing...  if you want, I would be happy to send a copy that could be used...  I would suggest the Wily Castle 2 since the execution during the boss fight almost looks like a TAS without the pausing...  A simple thought, and if you don't want it, I perfectly understand...  Still it would be fun to see people's reactions...

I have to say that for the purposes of a panel video to show non-speedrunners, it would be a very bad idea to show gameplay that is edited in any way. I like the other suggestions though.
Waiting hurts my soul...
Alright, I've added everything up 'til now I think. Sorry if I missed something. I'm going to be gone for a few days, so now would be a good time for someone to start to actually organize the clips and make some necessary cuts.

Explination of the Star Fox 64 clip is that it kills all four of the bosses in the quickest time possible.  He camps their spawn point, skips the cutscene, and attacks all of them with a smart bomb before they can even break formation.

err, crap, i didn't notice the typo on my earlier post. Prinny's supposed to be Segment 8, not 9. Sorry about that. >_>

ZenicReverie:  Thanks for all the work you're doing on this thread.  I have a couple of things to add:

1) To trim up the first post, I suggest you cut everything from TJ&E except for Level 10 (clip 2).  However, please change the time for that clip to 7:00 - 7:40; that way, what the viewer sees is the entire level.  I think taking a clip from this game out of context would look weird.

2) Again for trimming, get rid of everything I listed for Batman except for clips 3 and 6.  If someone wants another clip badly enough, including the runner, they can always speak up.

Finally, I also wanted to mention that we may want to include something from the upcoming TJ&E 2 runs by Deign (which I'm assuming will be posted alongside the original TJ&E).  Include what exactly?  Yeah, not sure.  I still have my verification copy so I may go through it again to look for some clips.  I'm thinking the best thing to do is to show a funkvac that caught 6-8 earthlings.  I don't think there is much reason to show entire levels here, because the levels in TJ&2 are probably too confusing for most people to follow.

Anyway, if there are any other verifiers out there with copies or the runner himself, feel free to suggest clips for me (likewise for those of you who watch the run in the event that it is posted before the marathon).
MrGrunz is a guay
I suggest DoT skip from the 1:16 OoT run (23:36-24:36(could be cut shorter because the last 20 seconds is just navi saying its the master sword)).  It took him 2 tries but the biggest sequence break in the game needs to be shown (and RBA is pretty hard to explain in a short time with video >_>)

Also from the same run, I suggest 53:53-54:38 as a superslide demonstration instead of the other ones already mentioned.  It shows both a superslide and ESS, and the SS to the shadow seam (18:00-18:15) might look ugly with the pause buffering, and starting the clip later may make the viewer confused about where he is.

6:10-6:35 would also be pretty good.  It demonstrates forest escape and is executed very well.

Now for a non OoT suggestion, 0:31-2:31 of segment 4 of the metroid prime 1:01 run showing IBBF would be cool to put in.  Might be too long though.
Fucking Weeaboo
Another video that needs to be included is Kirby's Dream Land 3.  Segment 14's battle against Ado is a fun fast fight which includes all the enemies from KDL2 (and some that were in Kirby's Adventure too).  Done with a parasol!  Proves it's not a stupid weapon after all.  Time is from 3:09 to 5:01 (you can stop a little early if you want to avoid potential seizures in the kids. Tongue ).

Hi there, few days ago MAS8705 asked me about my GTA 4 run, about including some footage in Magfest Panel Video. So, it would be cool, if you guys put my run into your compilation. Thanks to MAS8705.
