Hi there, few days ago MAS8705 asked me about my GTA 4 run, about including some footage in Magfest Panel Video. So, it would be cool, if you guys put my run into your compilation. Thanks to MAS8705.

Grand Theft Auto 4 (4:23)
Part 31 youtube 8:45-9:07,  (70 part, as SDA segment 1:05-1:25)

I do it because I care :)...  How many people are there on forums that can get away with saying that?  Anyway, thank you for posting officially in the thread....  I'd already posted what you thought should be added, and right now is being taken into consideration...  Hopefully it will be added along side with the other clips I have suggested for Magfest...

Newly formatted:

Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts      0:31-1:18      Good platforming on a difficult-looking stage that many people don't pass

My feelings on The Demon Rush
Okay, I'm going to be honest with you all.

I don't think the panel is going to happen. Breakdown and I honestly don't have time to work on the video, and on top of that, I have no motivation to work on the video. The only chance of the panel happening is if during the marathon people work together on which clips would fit and subtitles for each clip, then Nate or someone makes the video, and a bunch of people burn copies of it onto to DVD.

Sorry, but I really can't be bothered this year, and the marathon is a much higher priority.
Waiting hurts my soul...
Understood. nate, do have the time to assemble a video from suggested clips or to burn copies of the video? If nate does not, does anyone else have experience piecing together a video and adding subtitles? If this is going to happen, then we should aim to have a complete video by this Saturday to have a few days to burn DVDs. If nate or someone at the marathon can't burn the DVDs, then they would need to be shipped, which should be done next Monday.

Mike, do you have a set time for the panel(s)? How many DVDs need to be made?
it's a matter of all my equipment already being in use during the marathon. i'm sure someone who's not coming to the marathon (or who's coming to the marathon and has plenty of disk space and can use their own internet connection) can just use windows movie maker or something. or even imovie if they have a mac. just download the medium quality of everything to ensure compatibility. if you need help importing .mp4 under windows then just install the cccp first and it should import. burning the dvds may be more of a challenge but i know fork will be there who has his mac laptop and we can get idvd on there somehow. otherwise people who know more about burning video dvds can do it. i should be available often during the marathon (except when i'm running prime or commentating on fusion obviously) to consult. the idea is that magfest won't be guaranteed to have anything except an old school dvd player so we can't just burn .mp4 to the disc or something.

Panel will most likely be next Friday (the 14th) or Saturday (15th). You never know exactly when your panel is until MAGFest starts, but those are the days I requested.

If we're burning dvds on site, I should be able to burn some myself once the DVD is finished.
Here's my gaming-clip resume. Note lack of on-screen text, but good timing.

WOW.
Well, if you guys are really stuck, I guess I do have some experience in Sony Vegas and Subtitling, though not for really long peices.

True enough, if you want some of us to help out with creating the magfest video, we can... I don't have much to do for this next week...

I'll make an update later today, and try to organize the list.

Updated the list a little bit, and I've realized that the unreleased videos probably won't be a possibility this year since encoded copies would need to be sent to whoever was making the video, and those need to be made by nate. So, I'm setting those suggestions aside for now. I think we'll just include them for next year.

Edit:
There are quite a number of short runs (less than 5 minutes) that could be shown in full this year. What do people think of less clips and more full runs?

I'm really not going to have time this week to do this, so someone needs to pick up the ball now if this is going to get done. Two more suggestions just in case:

Blast Corps - 8:13 - 8:55
Commander Keen - 0:05 - 3:25
SDA Apprentice -- (3-1)
Just tell me all the clips that we should include in and how to structure it (and if you need any additional subtitles to explain what is happening), and I'll go ahead and start working on it right now...  I don't know if you want more than one clip from the same game or not or to use every game that you have mentioned on the list...
WOW.

I'm not going to lie... with the event in two days, there maybe... "complications"  I'm not saying it can't be done, but I can't say if the type of video I make will actually be worthwhile or not...  I would probably suggest the following...

If anyone is able to make a video, get working on it right now!  After that, get ready to send it out and blah blah blah blah blah...  Magfest maybe not until the 13th, but if say, it gets shown during the marathon, then that gives us two days...

So work on the video for now, once it's ready, send it to whoever needs to finish it...  I don't know about subtitles other than the game and the runner, but the Specific details such as explaining glitches will be more complicated to say without knowing what to say first...  I don't want to say the wrong thing about what is happening...  Still, I would suggest that we share what we came up with so that we can know where we stand...

If I'm going to need help Chrno, that would probably be it...
1) Find out if any of the clips need any additional subtitle explanations...
2) If we need any transitions like was shown in previous magfest videos (new or otherwise)...
3) An introduction... I should be able to handle the ending...

otherwise I'm going to make a very raw version of what it will look like and figure out...
Waiting hurts my soul...
It won't be shown during the marathon. It's only for the Magfest panels. Honestly, it's the subtitle explanations that I don't have time for. That and looking for clips of games. I can keep the list organized and suggest cuts. I'll add up all the times we currently have and select one clip per game later.

Ok, if you are ok with doing a bit of the main video for now whilst I do an intro, I am good with that. I will also look into the transitions as well, although I have not seen last years video for ages.
SDA Apprentice -- (3-1)
Alright then Zenic, that allows a bigger time frame to work on it...  I'll start getting the clips that have been sugesteed up to this point and organize it all for now...  I'll also go ahead and add the two you suggested...

Blast Corps - 8:13 - 8:55
Commander Keen - 0:05 - 3:25

Once you have something put together Chrno in regards of the intro and transitions (and if you want, the ending, although I think that a simple scrolling text should work) go ahead and msg me and I'll start adding them in...
WOW.
What video resolution do you expect we will be working with?
SDA Apprentice -- (3-1)
considering how most of the videos I downloaded so far, I would say 640x480...

I could cut up the clips I've suggested for you (TJ&E one clip, two from Batman Arkham Ayslum, and maybe another short one from one of the TJ&E 2 runs like a big funkvac use).  What video format would you like?  MP4?  I'll use the highest quality from the runs.

I'm planning on using the Insane quality on any of the clips I can find (except Arkham... that will be MQ due to the sheer size of both high and insane), so if you want to cut up those clips for me, that would be greatly appreciated... so yea, MP4 will be great...  If IQ isn't available, then I'm going to fallback on HQ...

I also seem to have a few problems getting punch out & NSMB working on my video editing program so I'm getting that video from an alternate source...  Hopefully it won't drop the quality too much but it wouldn't be the first time I had to resort to it...
WOW.
Ok, I have decided to open up Cinema 4D to start some 3D work for this intro. I won't be anything special, and to be honest it wont take me that long.

What about what Nate said about using medium quality and stuff?  I'll do whatever you guys think you need, but I just want to make sure there is no compatibility issue.

I will probably be using Sony Vegas, since WMM only puts out either screwed-up .wmv, or divx.

difficult and stupidly random
Don't know if it's too late to suggest clips, but I think the Dragon Twins fight in River City Ransom is a good clip.  It's short and to-the-point.  This fight was the main reason I did another RCR run.

River City Ransom  7:26 - 7:44
(That is starting a few seconds before the fight as you're running up to them, and ending after the fight when you go in the door)

alright... I spent this morning redownloading the runs that we had discussed...  Still need to edit it down, but so far without cutting out any clips, I'm guessing we got somewhere about 30-45(50?) minutes of footage...

Just need to download the last three request and arkham and I'll have a more estimated time...

Edit: Also which version of the blast corps run is the clip from?  We got the regular and 100% run so I can't say for sure which one it is...
