Hey, to anyone who wants to learn this game, I have made a tutorial series on all the major speedrunning techniques needed to run the game, you can find them here. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL166IuwEoQeB3IYoSKzfiBtdJgWBiyFcZ

I will also do a route walkthrough on Any% Warpless with beginner friendly strats very soon. Smiley

I grinded. And grinded. And grinded.

So as a result, the Any% Warpless world record is now 53:32!

http://www.twitch.tv/finnspire/c/6018310

I am soooo happy with that run, so happy that I will probably leave the category for now. It's yours to take Tony.

Hey there, I want to start running this game, probably Any% Warps, and was wondering if anyone has a tutorial for the warps themselves, or at least the first one. Thanks! :3

Also I'd love to be in that skype group, my username is eklipse.13 or Jaybird
I don't know if this thread is dead, but I found a setup to skip the vines tutorial.
I'm going to the enemy, then jumping and air dust, and launch skiping just before touching the ground.
100% working for me

Some news:

I have a new PB of 52:49 (WR) in Any% Warpless. You can see the run here: http://www.twitch.tv/finnspire/c/6687774
Lucar did a new record time in 117% Warpless, the run was unrecorded.
Lucar also posted a new record in 117% Warps, which you can see here:

If you are interested about the records in this game, please visit: http://www.speedrun.com/dust_aet

Last news but not the least, I will be running Any% Warpless on this year's edition of European Speedster Assembly, which is a pretty big deal. You can see my run between the 29th of June and the 2nd of July, the event will be broadcasted live on twitch. More information on the schedules later this month.

If you would like to join our skype group, please request it here in this topic. If you are interested to learn the game, check out my techniques tutorial playlist I posted earlier, and stay tuned for future route tutorials. ^^
Sup guys, currently learning any% warpless following Finnspires tutorials. Ive got all the tricks down except early flesh sheath, which is giving me trouble. but I hope to learn it by tomorrow or the day after cuz I want to run the game in early June.

I found a glitch that hopefully is useful!  It's a way to get Glade Warp-like saves without using Warps.

http://www.twitch.tv/shiniestbraixen/v/18309136

(Apologies for the low quality recording and the less-than stellar play!)

I'm not sure exactly how much setup is needed, but I ran through the game to Abadis Forest without doing anything out of the ordinary. Once I entered the area, if I stood on the very edge of the save platform, and hit Up, Right Trigger, and A at the same time (basically, just to roll into the loading zone while bringing the save menu up at the same time), I would have that menu stored when I went back to the World Map. After going back into Abadis, it auto-saved without a prompt, and this save had no name. Loading it brings you back to the same place but with "The Glade", just like in the Glade Glitch.

It also works after going to another room, then loading the file. I could load the Glitched save, and end up in the same room that I was in before, but with "The Glade" as an area title.

I've tried this a few times and it's worked every time!

As a note, the menu storage can't skip cutscenes; I tried going to Archer's Pass after doing the trick, and it softlocks on the save menu.

Hopefully this can be of some use? c:
That's pretty neat, I'm sure people will find it useful for warpless runs massively just to get out of bounds.

I did a little more testing of it (and MrOgam was there to see!  Thanks for stopping by Smiley )!  The VODs are in my past streams (http://www.twitch.tv/shiniestbraixen/profile/past_broadcasts), and without so much lag so it should be easier to see. Smiley

While I was originally doing this from the save point at Abadis Forrest, you can also do it with the left save point on the exit in Cirromon Caverns.  It's a little easier there, since you only have to roll and activate the save at the same time, instead of jumping, dodging, and activating the save point (in Abadis).

Going to a new place with a panorama does softlock the game, but going to a new place without doesn't.

If you do this and quickly click the "World Map" with a teleport stone, so it has time to say "Teleport?" before you go to the world map, going to any location will cause the screen to go black for a split second before it kicks you back to the world map (and consumes a teleport stone).  Doing this to new areas  doesn't let you skip the panorama, though.

Another little thing: http://www.twitch.tv/shiniestbraixen/v/18551483

If you dodge off a save into a room transition, the save will be in the new room, and not on the save point.  If you load, you'll end up in that new room instead of on the save.

I'm not sure how many saves are near room transitions, though.

I tried poking a bit more around the Gaius and Guard cutscene room (if you glade warp right after seeing one of those cutscenes).  I think this was said earlier, but it does seem to be a completely different room than the actual Everdawn Basin level.  In the game's data it's just listed as "gaiusscene.map" and doesn't have any triggers or exits listed.  Just to be sure, though, I tried going all around the room (by loading Glade Warp Saves from different locations), and nothing happened.  On the main path to Gaius; on the platform where the second fight takes place; on the lower platform where the third first takes place; to the right of the right wall; nothing happened no matter what.  The only unexpected thing was that exiting to the right also takes you back to the World Map (just like exiting to the left), so maybe there's just a default "exit to map" for the side exits.

All of that is to say, Glade Warping to the cutscene room doesn't look like a way to skip to the ending. D:

Also (sorry for so many posts in a row!), in this video:

(timestamped at 28:42)
The player seems to go through the floor into an out-of-bounds area below.  I'm not sure exactly what she did (I also don't speak German), but it's something I noticed when watching.

I did a little more poking around with Glade Warping:

So, when you do a glade warp (or load a glade save), keys, chests, destructable walls, and ability orbs (and some other things I'm not sure of) won't load in (which is already in ogam's pastebin).

However, if you do a glade warp or load a glade save in a level that has a world map exit (or a save point that you can use to teleport), then if you warp to somewhere valid, then you'll appear in the last position you were in, but everything will still be in the level normally.  You can use this to, say, warp directly to the ability orb for Slide (I took a video of that here: http://www.twitch.tv/shiniestbraixen/v/19605292).

To put that a little more clearly:
1) Find a room that has a world map exit or a save point
2) Glade warp or load a glade save (so that you're in "The Glade")
3) Exit to the world map though the side of the level or with a teleport stone
--> Your last position while exiting (whether on the save point or the side of the screen) will be saved
4) Pick an area and warp to a valid location
--> You'll be put in that room in the saved position from earlier, but all collectibles will still be present

I found a big skip in the Everdawn Basin. c:

http://www.twitch.tv/shiniestbraixen/v/20314051

By making a Glade Save at the beginning of the Sorrowing Meadow (using the glitched save from exiting to world map with the "Save Game?" dialogue up), you can skip an unskippable dialogue with the Moonblood Elder, a Yellow Resonance Gate (which requires detouring to start a generator and burn some roots, visiting a fallen soldier, and then backtracking to the Elder), and a destructible wall (which normally requires going around through another room).  This should save about 2 or so minutes compared to doing it the normal way.

This also skips having to pick up the ability orbs for Fidget's powers from Fuse and Lady Tethys, which saves a few seconds.
That's pretty neat, that section has always been annoying backtrack even though it's only a few rooms.

I was talking to the other runners, and it looks like they'd actually rather not have that sort of warping in Warpless (since it's still a sort of wrong warping).  I'm looking for other places it could be useful (like 117% Warps, perhaps? :3), but for now the Everdawn Basin skip can be unused. c:

Here's something else I found, though: Pause Invulnerability!

If you pause while an enemy is swinging, Dust won't take any damage from any sources until he's next moved (whether that's a controller input or if an enemy pushes you during their attack).  This works pretty much anywhere--I tried it against General Gaius and I was able to just sit still as his attacks went through me!

The one caveat: It doesn't protect you from explosions.  Exploding zombies and Gaius's purple orbs will still hurt you, perhaps because they move you a little.  Also, in swarms of enemies, where one is more likely to move you, it's not so useful as you'll probably take damage sooner.

That being said, though, dodge rolling is more convenient and protects you against damage all the same, so it's not exactly useful as a trick.  It's at the very least a neat little curiosity, though. c:

cool. Good to see people still trying stuff out. I wont be running this again for a while after my ps4 account got banned. Maybe sometime in 2016 though Tongue

sorry im dumb couldnt find it anywhere..prolly obvious but is this run only for xbox or somethin? cuz when i look up controls for some tricks seems not to be pc friendly..? lmk thanks would luv to run this game
Runs are mostly on pc, game was made with controller in mind so it's more comfortable with one. If you get confused with controls X is light attack, Y is heavy attack so left and right click or j and k for default i believe.

Here's an update (that I just posted to the chat, and I'll put here too)!

First off, some useful files:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RZhXGJ-DUZgenOkUrbME0aegtd2-YSARoM8lSTpcFPM/edit#gid=1
On an earlier post in this thread, someone made a spreadsheet recreating the map for each area.  I've taken that and made a version that also lists which map file corresponds to which room!

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Tg7KiNuBd0W2OEVfCJ7Na55qRcSXl8nnJ6Qd_il6i28/edit#gid=1319152320
Here's a list of all the x and y coordinates of every save point in the game, for warps!  I also have some examples of me trying to find out which save points are best for warping to specific locations.  For example, there's a way to warp to The Kid's cage in Archer's pass with no resonance stones (though you still need the Blue and Red or Blue and Green stones to get the two keys in the room)!  I haven't tested that yet 'cause my current save file doesn't have Archer's Pass ('cause I forgot to get the quest from Avgustin before, and he won't give it to you when he's in Sorrowing Meadow).

And some unfortunate info: I was looking at the map file for the entrance to Sorrowing Meadow.  It looks it's not so much that a red barrier is spawned in front of the door to the room that takes you to Blackmoor, but that the door doesn't exist until you set the event flag from beating Baron Kane.  Because of that, it may be difficult to find a Sorrowing Skip.

Trying to glitch the room to go into a door won't work, 'cause the doors are hardcoded to room and location.  If you managed to spawn that specific door it might work, though.  I also don't know if those two rooms are loaded in memory at the same time (since they're listed together in the map file)--If they are, then maybe there's a way to warp between them?  Otherwise, I don't see a way to get a Sorrowing skip quite yet. D:
