I guess i need to clarify the defenition of 'warpless' does that simply mean no warp glitch where you teleport to any room, or no teleport stones at all? Because some backtracking can be mitigated with teleporting back to the world map from save zones.
(haven't had a chance to sit down and properly study the 117% runs yet, didn't realize it was known. Thanks)
Warping is defined as using the world map to enter a zone through any side of any room other than the designated entrances. You can avoid it by just not using the mouse on the world map. Teleporting out of a zone from a save point is certainly allowed and you should make use of it as much as possible. Smiley

thank you for the clarification. i hoped that porting out wouldn't be an issue. And I just realized that the clip you mentioned was actually the first glitch i ever found in the game, lol. I just didn't know about the RDS so i couldn't get back in the map. I'm still working on just familliarizing myself with the runs. but I'm getting better. Sadly I can't do any recording till my graphics card is repaired though.

ok, some good news and bad knews, bad news: since i posted it. I haven't been able to attack + back to double zone at all, not even worrying about the cut scenes, for some reason i only could get it to work on that one file and it hasn't worked since, so i guess that theory's bunk unless someone else can make it work.

on some slightly better knews, i discovered you can do it with the ads just like you can on the ground, I think it's going to come down to personal preference, because it works the same way for both methods, but using the dust storm could potentially save you a few seconds as you don't have to necessarily stand right next to the zone line, you simply jump, press y to dust storm and press back right when your hat is about half way off the edge of the screen (that's my marker) it's a bit nicer than on foot because you don't have to go from forward to back instantly, simply y in the air makes you move forward. I have confirmed this does work for skips. Hope this helps.

Still trying to get down to a more respectable time, currently i'm averaging around 90 min, but i keep making stupid mistakes, gotta practice more.
DNA MoL SoTM
averaging sub 70 min, so making progress. i hope to be able to upload a video soon, once i get some general computer repairs done. I'm coming for that wr ^_^

hey, found a new possible alternate for the route (in any% warpless) if you forget to open up the entrance above mudpot, instead of porting out, you can head back through the spikes and grab a bomb fruit on the way. You have to zone 2x to extend the timer enough, but you can get this bomb back to mudpot as well to do the early tethys trick. I've timed this a few times and it seems to be a similar amount amount of time as the other one where you port out, then head 2 rooms in, grab the bomb and come back

Pro: this saves a teleport stone and you actually can get through the opening sequence only grabbing 2 keys and end with enough money for 4 teleport stones, saving some time there

con: though this has the potential to save maybe 20-30 seconds off the run, getting the bomb through all those spikes is iffy at best, i praticed for most of an hour and only could get it through a handful of times. The bomb's idle motion and the sheer number of spikes you have to get it through seem to mean this is a poor fallback at best, but i thought i'd still throw it out there if someone could find a consistant way to do it
Those spikes are tricky to get through. If there's a way to get the bomb OOBs then it would be faster considering there's nothing to worry about (spikes). Otherwise that bomb is painful to keep alive. Sad

just sad that i'm gettin on the speed run train late and don't have anything worthwhile to offer. I don't like using everyone else's strats and not coming up with anything of my own, so i'm doing my best to expirament if i get the opportunity. If i'm not mistaken the record for warpless is just under an hour and i want to see if i can find ways to do that more consistantly, I'm currently having trouble getting under 1:07.

On the few times i did get the bomb through the spikes, i clocked it as being faster overall, because you can skip those 2 early keys, but again, so hard to do. Has anyone managed to get a bomb oob? i know it's not that hard with dust, but a bomb would be interesting. I know there's a spot in the ice zone (brainfart on name) where you can zone up and end up inside the wall, but i haven't found anywhere in the caverns you could do this, it does bring up an interesting idea though. Generally whenever you zone the bomb ends up right behind you. Think there might be a way to manipulate where it spawns in?

Hey people, this is one of those games I really enjoyed and think that Noogy did a brilliant job making a game like this, I tried running through it fast on normal back when it was new and I think I hit 2 hours 40 pausing when the 360 version crashed on a loading screen, but this was way before any skips and flying moves were found.

Been looking into trying to run this game but wanted to ask, is there anyone who runs the game on hardcore only? and not including warps which you can seem to do on the PC build.

harcore only increases damage taken and decreases the damage you do i believe. Going from normal to hardcore is kind of pointless for the most part. (as stated earlier in the thread) the only interesting thing you'd really have to do in hardcore is being really careful not to die and abusing the invincibility frames from hurting yourself with dust storm. Besides that it would be the same, but longer

Honestly a hardcore run is rather boring besides a few interesting moments of fancy tricks, if nothing else because of how long it takes. As well, only in casual mode do you have infinite energy to dodge cancel as often as you want and move around much faster.

Yes you can only do a warps run on the pc, but currently i'm working on an any% warpless run, mostly from personal preference.

on a side note, has anyone found a guaranteed way to get the attack food to show up in the shop without going out of your way? some runs it will show up with no problem, other runs (most of the time) it won't, even when i have the exact  same food on me. Is there something else that triggers it to show up? could it be the number of times the shop restocks maybe? Anyone have an idea?
Hey new speedrunners, welcome Diablohead Smiley

As Mishli said the problem with hardcore mode is that you can't do "Ground Dodge Cancel" or "Rising Dust Storm" or other tricks that we use for the run. But if you want to give it a try why not.

For the attack food i think its Random because like you some times i have it and some times not.

btw i finally managed to get a sub 1:07 yesterday <3 i didn't do it  live cause of the C4L marathon Smiley

next step a sub 1:05 Smiley
DNA MoL SoTM
nice job. It would be nice if there was some way to guarantee to get the attack food. someone mentioned a chest early on in the level that you can get the food from. Considering there's several places where it takes < 2 seconds to get an extra key. i'm heavily debating incorporating that chest into my run, because even as i keep trying to find different ways to manipulate gaius (found about 3 at the moment, but actually need to time them) it's also very annoying to have the fight take 30% longer without that food
DNA MoL SoTM
and imo you can do rds no problem in the higher modes, just when you turn red, do one or two xxxy combo in midair, you lose almost no height and it'll give you a few seconds to 'cool down' but again, it's just not as fast and more tedious
Arkham speed runner.
thanks for the replies, so it's best to say run on normal or casual to get unlimited energy to dodge and such, I just remember in the past watching runs that some players would switch between casual and normal before a level up so they can apply their points to attack or fidget instead of casual auto leveling you, sort of wanted to avoid doing that and just play on hard, but whatever works Smiley

One thing I have been messing with is the rising dust storm and wall climbing with combos stuff but I was playing on hardcore, does it really make a difference being on normal for that kind of stuff? outside of moves which require dodging that is.
DNA MoL SoTM
besides dodging, imo there's not much difference in the combos, you have to rising dust storm for quite a while before you build up enough to damage yourself, if you do you're screwed because you'll fall all the way back down, but like i said earlier, just the xxxy combo in mid air once or twice will help you keep most of your vertical height while dust cools down from the dust storm. as for leveling up. because of the limit (can't have more than 4~ levels in one skill higher than your lowest) the casual run is actually conveniently optimised for this, considering when you hit level 8, the game would put 2 in all of  them, but you can put 3-4 in attack and it just works out that way, but there's no point in leaving it on a higher difficulty, because you'd have to put more into the other stats anyway to get it higher. Overall, unless you wanted very specific stats at specific times, the game does what you'd have to anyway on casual, except for that large chunk from baron kain

Hey guys hope that your run/practice goes well ? Smiley

I have personally reach sub 1:05 (1:04:01)

I have not done online because I often run late and my family sleep in the room right next to me but shortly (normally early June) I'll have a studio / office where I could stream more often Smiley

I hope that soon we will be able to do some race together ... it could be fun thumbsup

grats on the run. just got a new job so i haven't been able to practice as much as i'd like, still struggling to get sub 1:06
Nice run!
hey everyone,

I just do some run and I feel that by selling more than the keys to the first seller increased the chance of buying the boost attack at last seller...

btw I got a new PB <3
the video is being upload

Attachment:
Grats, Rabram! I'm looking forward to getting back into this game very soon for SGDQ practice, though it'll strictly be any% warps until the marathon is over.

for me the link goes to toki tori, not dust

side note, i was going through a run earlier today and found an insteresting glitch. In the moonblood camp, when you drop down the hole next to sanjin (where you need to go down and restart the generators) if you hug the walls (left wall works best for me) it seems to spawn you on the elevator. this saves a half sec, if you hold down and press jump just after you zone, dust will spawn on the platform and immediatly drop down, saves a hair more, but then when i was playing with this, i managed to get dust to start on the GROUND at the bottom of the elevator's path. There was no falling, he simply spawned there from the zone in above. I'm still not 100% sure what makes this happen, though i was able to duplicate it a few times. If you hold down +left while hugging the wall and press jump right before he crosses the zone line, it seems to happen about 10% of the time. I did manage to get it about 5 times on command, but then i couldn't get it for a while. Been playing with it for most of an hour and, though it's not very useful here. I'm wondering if there are any other locations where we could use this? saving time for a long drop or maybe even spawning lower than intended? I'll keep playing with it and try to a: figure out exactly what's going on and b: see if i can find anywhere else you can do this.
Sorry, haven't gotten my computer fixed or i'd post video.
