Hey guys,

I found something.
I do not know if it's due to my PC or not but just before i launch a run if I change my resolution and I returned to the one I use, the game seems faster (especially during loading)... Wink
I really think we need to address the whole loading thing. it's making it pretty much impossible to compare our times accurately.
well while I get something together to talk about that properly

how do you guys feel about a weekly race? I brought this up last year, but there were like three of us back then so it wasn't the time for it. I'm thinking any% warpless for the category, since that seems to be popular right now, doesn't exclude xbox players, and is neither too long nor too short for a weekly event. (we'd have to handicap tony's ridiculous loading times for this too somehow, but, you know)
I'd absolutely be in. It's just a matter of getting enough active players to race weekly. Another problem may be that even if we get racers, very few of them would be able to stream it..

SPEAKING OF WHICH: A Dust skype group exists, if you weren't aware, drop your skype name here and we'll add you.

About the whole loading times issue.. I spoke with tony and he stated that during any% warpless he saves about 40 seconds when he uses windowed mode. Yeah, logic. If I remember correctly, I used fast loading times in my PB (58:08). Anyone can do this, and I'm not sure if there's a point in banning that.
Wow this is not 40 seconds, this is like 12 ~ 14 seconds.

btw I made this video
it's kind of a weird subject. not everyone can actually speed up their game like that. it gives a silly disadvantage to people playing on not-so-good hardware.

that said, when I play in windowed mode, the game does feel faster. like framerate faster. it could just be me though. I'll stream in windowed mode today and see what kind of noticeable effect it has on my runs.

I will just add, again, that I have always played in windowed mode and always observed the 0.8 second difference in my opening cutscene, just for starters. Playing in windowed mode is not a magical cure-all. More investigation is needed.

Setup for Mudpot panorama cutscene skip:

(look at the description of the video)

Very easy, fast & consistent, work on the right side of Mudpot and battlefield zone (just need a visual cue for the jump and that's it)
Must operate faster!
Hey, I would love to be added into the Dust speedrunning group on Skype.
My name is "surefireoc" or Sir Knight Surefire Tactics
Helo guys !

I would like to run Dust soon. I hope that this thread is not dead (last message from september ? wow)
Currently stuying the game. I'm assuming this is the WR is the 18:45 performance

There's one thing I don't understand in this run : why taking a damage at the glade just before the cutscene where Dust fail to climbing plants. Maybe someone here can help me ?

I'm really hoping that Dust speedrun isn't dead Cheesy
Taking damage in that room is for skipping a tutorial dialogue that comes up forcing you to watch dust fail to latch on to vines. Alternatively a more consistent way due to AI is to load an auto save on the way, this will cause the game not to load that dialogue.
Ok. Got it.
It's still skipable in the classic way (all the cutscene I mean). I'm skipping it entirely almost everytime. Will try to see exactly where I'm launching the skip.
Hey guys, I've played through Dust and had a fantastic time going through it.  After seeing some speedruns both warpless and warp, I wanted to try and get into doing a warpless run.  I do have a question of sorts before trying to get into it though, does Dust need to be on a specific version for certain tricks to work?  I have the PC version, but it's the standalone one from GOG, and not Steam.  It's also currently on version 1.04, and I know  any% warp is run on 1.03.  So yeah, is 1.04 warpless any% possible?  Are there alternate strategies/workarounds for stuff that doesn't work in 1.04 anymore?  If not, is it possible to get a 1.03 version for standalone and not Steam?  Lots of questions I know, but I'd like to be sure before I potentially start doing runs that basically amount to nothing.  Thanks in advance!  DUST HYPE!
Only difference in 1.03 and 1.04 is in 1.03 you can be lazy with warps where you can slowly pick a room then select it. Where as 1.04 you need to keep your mouse button down while you find your room, otherwise it'll reset back to a zone exit room.
^In other words, version doesn't matter in warpless. If you have any more questions about warpless category or need help learning it, feel free to drop your skype name and we'll add you to our skype group, or alternatively, PM me at Twitch. ^^

Speaking of which, I'm planning to start streaming warpless again....
HYPE? Cheesy
Alright, awesome-sauce.  Also, thanks for the quick response.  At this point I need to learn how to do most of the movement stuff down consistently, like dodge cancelling, rising dust storm, and the like.
