And yes, separate installs will work. I remember hearing about it as a method to unpatch the game without having to uninstall and losing all previous characters. Used for installing mods that require an older patch.

One thing mentioned on the diii forums is using either the inventory or character pane open to get more range out of teleport - I'll definitely be using this when applicable, save a few seconds.
Are you sure it won't make the run a pain to watch seeing either the character/inventory screen open every few seconds?
doing same game with different patch is it considered as a subcategory or they keep the best time no matter the patch?
ask mike, my memory tells fastest time gets the "main" record, and latest patch gets special category if it isn't the fastest, and any others get removed unless some arbitrary decision keeps em
of course your whole run has to be on the same patch
afaik is short for as far as i know, meaning you better double check
So, if you didn't have the game currently installed, and wanted to run two versions, would you: 1) install and upgrade 2) install again to a different directory 3) install whatever older patch if you felt like it, on this install
I don't think you can install twice It'll be like- 1)Install d2 2)Install whatever patch you like 3)Copy paste files to another directory 4)Revert original install to whatever patch you like I hope that makes it clear

Hmm. So I would copy all the files that are installed into another directory? And both would run fine?
Yes, just copy the game files to another location, and it will work. Maybe both version will use the same save directory. Also, you can copy the game files to two other directories, and uninstall the original one, to remove the game from the registry.
And, finally, you can install multiple diablos on your system, if you create other user profiles. Each user can have one installed diablo 2. With this, you can play with two (or more) characters at the same time on a single pc, even on bnet. but that requires a cd-key for each one. (lol self-rushing )
I just generated a very acceptable map. Two shrines very close to stony WP and stones. The worst part is the shrine near FO is almost a full screen away, but there's plenty of champ packs nearby.
I did a test with the exp shrine + poison shrine from a new char - I almost hit level 4 in those couple seconds... amazing. It took a helluva lot of tries to get the shrines up, but that's part of this run.
I'm gonna keep this map - it should wind up extremely good.
FreakZilla put a $20 on under 70 minutes - although his deadline is July - I don't think I'll make that - though i am very sure I'll make the time.
I'm going to start first-segment attempts. There's almost nothing manip here - just the stam shrine - so I think I'll try to manip something good from the opening chest. Maybe just something for gold so I can get a frost nova staff asap.
Siyko, will you buy a lot of potions before you'll get a regular belt? Because, maybe you don't know, but the fastest method to buy potions is to use the left click rapidly. It can only save time when you can't use the belt trick to buy. Maybe you can skip vendors until you buy a belt (i could do it), so it won't matter.
Yeah, I could extend the deadline. We'll see how close to finishing you are.

What is this exp shrine + poison shrine thing?? Four levels in a couple of seconds??!!
I was thinking more along the lines of "will this be under 45 minutes?" suga's time was already under an hour, you have a better plan for time management, and you have a few tricks to shave minutes from his run.

Both versions, as well as his Amazon run, were hosted on that DivX site (session 6?), but that site went down last year. His first version was fast, but he then cut his second run down by about 15 minutes.
