Siyko: I guess you can't manipulate stuff for later segments like frw boots, or +skill staff for Leaf. Maybe you should spawn a similar chest in a later area, too.
Zurreco: Yes, it's right, i forgot that. But fulminating does a good damage, i'm wondering if it uses attack rating or what. Wouldn't it be easier to kill Raka with that? (just an idea)

Fum pots don't use AR, and they are somewhat AoE damage. Unless you have a pretty kick ass scepter, it'd probably be faster to use them.
In addition to the good/bad flag, there's also special chests you might be able to abuse. Special chests are like the ones that people run in Lower Kurast for runes; they look normal, but they drop about 4x the amount a normal chest can. I can't recall exactly where all of them are in ActI, but I know they're inside houses or outside on a porch. I'm quite certain Blood Moor has one; it's quite possible that Stony Field has one, too. ...For all I know, maybe that's the chest you're hitting...?

That chest spawns in front of a house, I saw one before, either in Blood Moor or Stony Field.
As for manipulating a +skill staff for Leaf, you can get one off the merchants, at least one in act 2. I bought a +2 Warmth 2 socketed staff from whatever his name is, don't remember how expensive it was
Socketed +skill staffs don't cost significantly more than unsocketed staffs (a few hundred gold). You can definitely buy socketed +fire ball staffs from akara at level 12, probably earlier (like regular +fire ball staffs). It might save a few seconds to get it earlier if you can afford it since you would just have to check the red (unusable) staffs in the shop.
I just searched for a +2 Fireball staff at Drognan: I forgot the exact price, but it was between 24-27k, but that was without sockets. My guess is you can get it with probably two staffmod manips (max sell for 10k apiece) along with selling Andariel's item drops and her normal gem. Remember, she'll drop two chippies, so you'll have to find four others from the run's start until you need the gold at clvl19 for Leaf.
...I suppose you need to take into account the money spent on potions, too. Maybe doing three staffmod manips would be safer...

That's why i suggested to manip a staff from a chest. It's much cheaper, and you can check the mods "outside of the segment".

Fulminating is not AoE, the two other fire potions have AoE. But the damage is rather high, so it can be an alternative to javelins.
And i was thinking about this good chest thing, it can actually save a lot of time, if you can manipulate runes from it. You need four runes, that's four segments, less then 30 seconds, and you can skip two Countess runs, which saves ~4 minutes. Nice find, Siyko!

Incorrect. Before developing the poison shrine strategy for Rakanishu I tried fulminating potions as an alternative. They do have a small aoe and I was able to hit up to three carvers sometimes. The problem however is getting them in sufficient quantity to actually clear the whole pack. Also since carvers scatter when one of them dies, you had to wait for them to group up again and it just wasn't anything fast.
damn i just rolled a KICKASS map as far as A1/A2 leveling goes. There's even a semi-good chest (not one of the multi-drops, but it can drop a 1.2k scepter) right near stony wp.
From stony WP it's about 2 screens to go through the carin stones, next to one of the big fallen camps, and right into 1-2 bosspacks converging on a shrine. Delicious.
Far Oasis is about 1.5 screens away from a shrine with three! bosspacks on the way.
Tower is right near black marsh WP, shrine is right outside blood moor, there's a manip'able shrine right outside CP WP...
I salute your perseverance in finding the right map. Just roughly, how many do you think you rolled to get this one? :-)
I'd say at very minimum, 250.
I had it down to a pretty easy method thanks to keyboard macros -
i press "generate blank char", click single player, click the sorc, check the map (reroll if town exit is southeast), save+exit, press 'backup current map' button, single player, click the sorc, press "maphack" button, look around
It probably took 3 hours total map rolling (had to take breaks because god was it boring).

I finished the first segment (run to stony) and did like 60 attempts on the second. That damn poison shrine never shows up.

with knowledge You have, how You would estimate (very roughly) when it would be possible to see the run
does it look like 4 weeks or is it more like 4 months?
