I don't see any reason to teleport with less than 37fc, at least in act 3-5. A complete Stealth is easy to manipulate even with a single countess-run in 1.13, and you need the xp anyway.

A fc-ring can be cubed with charlevel 7+ (8,3% with charlevel 14-15, 7,8% with 16-17)


Some numbers for the +fireball-orb:

With itemlevel 25 (chipped gems), the probability of getting +fireball is 4,3% and 0,43% for +3fireball. ~230 rerolls are possible, but I don't think you want to add 10fc (~1:8500), +1 fire (~1:35,000) or even both (~1:1,800,000).
Imbue with charlvl 15 gives you a probability of 17,6% for +fireball and 3,3% for +3 fireball. About 0,1% for +3fireball/10fc, so even that looks possible. Disadvantage: You don't have it with lvl12-14.
Imbue with charlvl 14 (or less) is worse as the staff (itemlevel 18) doesn't fall in the 19-24-group any more: 6,6% for +fireball, 1,25% for +3 fireball. 0,04% for +3fireball/10fc. Well, still better than the chipped-recipe.

You'll get some mana OR life as automod, too.
Sockets in the orb are nice for tir-runes if you find them.

The shield can get up to 20 mana (itemlevel 14 with a buckler -> can be shopped in act 2 from elzix) and 17fhr (ilvl9) or 10 life (ilvl11). 10 mana is easier and can be shopped in act 1 (charsi, gheed) with every charlevel.


Some points in static can help to reach level 12 and may be useful later, too. I don't know how close to 1hit-kills you are in act 2. It's great for baals minions and the cs, of course.

Hsarus (1,1%) and Gorefoot (0,7%) give you odds of 1:55 to find +20frw-boots at andariel (questdrop, 0 mf).


@Hugo123: The exp-guide is nice if you play through the game in the normal way. However, for a speedrun, you need a better way to level.

Is there any merit in getting a Gull dagger? I doubt it will speed up much, but the 100% mf is nice, and I believe the best place to get it is from Corpsefire. It will certainly reduce the insanity of getting items with long odds.

@mfb:  Good numbers.  I always like seeing research for this game.  Though relative ease may be correct when it comes to completing a Countess run, I'll contest that finding both Tal + Eth in a single run is far from easy to achieve.  That said, though, I think Stealth is a good idea, too.  FCR for teleports, FRW for every other moment when you're not teleporting.  Seems smart to have it.

I won't give an outright negative response, but...  if the only gear one would plan on actually finding are either the Hsarus' or Gorefoot boots, manipulating gear drops TWICE seems less productive than doing it just once at Andy.  The MF modifier won't affect rune drops from the Countess, nor will it affect the results from cubing or imbues.  Also, if Siyko deems it necessary to get an FCR ring/amulet to drop, MF won't help there either since all rings are magical at a minimum quality.

If, however, a new idea comes up for a specific magical+ item...  say, the need to find a rare ring with FCR that could have GF, mana, resists, whatever...  maybe a rare belt to drop from an act boss...  or even the Hand of Broc if +mana is REALLY necessary (about the only pair of gloves that will help at all in this run; you could literally do the whole run gloveless for as many useful mods you can get here)...  one might argue for the usefulness of having a Gull. 

At first glace, though, I'm not seeing the need for it since there's only one sure-fire item that NEEDS to drop.  Forcing the game to drop very specific items twice just doesn't seem like it's the way to go.
Gull would certainly not be worth it. The boot drop is only 1:55.
The countess in norm drops an average of ~2.02 runes - let's assume she drops 2 every time, that is easier to calculate.
For every rune: Tal - 0.25 and Eth - 0.175
So the probability for TalEth in a single drop is 2*0.25*0.175 = 0.088 or ~1/11.

A more detailled look at the mechanism of the countess drops results in 0.082.


Finding Gull is much more difficult than finding the desired items without mf.

I think I'll do a countess for stealth then. I still plan on skipping Leaf though.

Ok a million distractions, but I'm working on this. I am trying to get competitive in both SC2 and SF4 and learn a new language and instrument and handle a relationship and a move and work being busy. I still need to set up all my scripts and stuff that handle recording and saved games and such.

Would this run, if it's successful, replace the Assassin run or is the Sorceress considered a separate category? I seem to remember there being an any% Sorceress run some time ago that isn't there... Either that or I am going mental.  Or both.
