Sorry, I'm regsitered now. I apologize for the one liners, anyway. I am canadian, I live in van, and I am a MMX speedrunner. I'd love to be part of this, but unfortunately if it's in august, I don't think I'll be able to make it

Yeah dude, you can confirm me 100% for october then, and I'll have my MMX run up to par for sure. I'll do some casual play for anything if we do bonus stream too

If you manage to get a location suitable for a good number of people (like the university) would you allow people to come and watch? I live in Montréal and would like to see but I don't currently run any games and I don't think I have quite enough time to learn anything before the marathon happens.

I think that would be an awesome idea. If we're doing a charity event, I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem.

Sanraku actually brought a really interesting point. This could very well be possible!
By the way I'm in to run Donkey Kong Country 3 as well as helping out setup everything if needed.
This is starting to get really huge and I feel like it's a bit unfair for West Coast Canadians :/ but the idea came from Bismuth and RWhite Goose that are East Coast runners so we thought about meeting somewhere close from them.

Counting only Goose, Bismuth, Pappy, Techiyo and me, it will already be at least 5-6 hours of runs, which is a lot if you count for only a weekend :/
Maybe if we start everything on Friday 5pm and finish on Sunday 5pm it would have a chance of making a bunch of people run their stuffs.

Also, I'm so HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Also, another idea, making gifts for donators (like drawings, games, etc.)
If we have the time for it, if everyone coming makes at least one gift for it's game, it would probably increase the amount of donations for the organization we're helping out

I was gonna buy a perler kit. Me and a buddy were thinking of doing a bunch, so we'll make some for you guys.
I'll also try to focus on something to play there, but it'll depend on who plans on going I guess.

I most likely can't attend due to living in Calgary and having no funds, but I can easily make prizes and gifts for you guys.
I make perlers so if you guys want I can make perlers for the games people run.

Wish I could attend but I'll be satisfied with just supporting this ~

I might be able to attend this, I'm not sure yet. I'll have to see if i can bus down there and bus back in time for work on Monday, or if i could somehow get the monday off which is possible. So maybe put me in for saturday afternoon or something if possible. I live in Saskatchewan and I would run Spyro 120% and any% (120% is my main category). I can only attend in October since i already have a marathon in august i need to attend around the dates provided (and i work on that friday).

Please let me know on the date though, I would love to set up plans to attend this marathon, Canadian Hype!

In the case of travel costs, SwiftRunners would be much obliged to hold a fundraiser show for certain travelers who are a bit light in the pocket.

If it ends up being in Ottawa I might be able to make it, Montreal probably a no go. If I ran a game it would either be Resident Evil 2, Metal Gear Solid 1 Large Skips run, or Zelda: Twilight Princess no Save+Quit.

Yeah the problem I have with running it in Ottawa is that I can't make it happen in October. I'm already running two events that month. So if it does happen then, I can't provide any help (which would include equipment, room, etc.)

I've been thinking about Remembrance Day weekend (November 9th-11th). This gives us ample time to work with a charity and get a proper setup. Would people who signed up so far be up for that or is that date too far off?

Of course, this is if we make it happen in Ottawa. If Montreal and October are dead set, then that's that and I'll just have to sit it out.

Learning to Stream

I'm in Winnipeg, an I have my AC notice for Montreal. Ottawa is closer and much more doable. Just a weekend though... that is kind of.. ugh. But a week of work is worse. I can make absolutely 0 guarantee since I am in so much debt and fighting hard on a new budget... but if I can do it, I'd come down to assist in any way I could. Probably to commentate and provide comic relief.

My French is absolutely atrocious though x.x;;

BUT!! Since I LIVE In Winnipeg, if this works out, and I am kind of sort of in the middle of Canada... if enough people were able to assist, I'd be happy to help make a second event occur as well!

Well I was meaning if it was in Montreal... I'd still give it my best. If it's in Ottawa though... score for being closer... and do you think we could manage to get the Prime Minister involved? Wink

Can you imagine it? A small group of us crazy speed running Canadians getting the Prime Minister on stream playing something? Can you imagine if he was actually GOOD at a game and showed some genuine skills?

I am sure there'd be an assload of people ridiculing and going off on that.. but at the same time, it'd be an awesome gauntlet to drop on Obama!
