Haha I LOVE how dedicated you are to this Bismuth. I would totally be down for making this event happen, and could even run something like links awakening!  But we would definitely need to include either a Timmy's drinking contest or road hockey tournament to make this legit Canadian :p
I second the motion for a Timmy's drinking contest

UPDATE: sorry for being silent for a long time but I have been busy with other stuff. The marathon can't be held in October without being massively shrunk down, and I don't want to reject everyone so it's been decided that it had to be postponed in March 2014.  I updated the first post with the new info and I will be making a Games/Schedule thread probably tomorrow, or shortly if not tomorrow. I will try to include everyone at first, but then cuts will probably have to be made. Like for AGDQ, don't take anything personally if you are cut from it, but hopefully there won't be a lot of cuts and most people will get to run games there.

So while the bad news are that it's not happening in 2013, the good news are that it is going to be a big event and it is going to be well-prepared and hyped properly.

That's too bad, I was just typing up something here when you posted that. I'll post anyway:

I should note that I've helped organize two speedrunning marathons in the past, SRG Marathon 1 & 2, the second of which averaged around 3500 viewers and raised $8000. I know a fair bit about the process behind these things, how to keep everything working behind the scenes, donation tracking and the such. I'd be happy to help out with that kind of thing.

Your help concerning donation tracking would be definitely welcome, thanks for suggesting.

While I'm disappointed about the delay, it does mean that I will have much more time to practice, and can most probably offer even more games than just Papo y Yo.

The obvious choices would be Resident Evil 4 and 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand (the latter I am hoping to give a test run during AGDQ's bonus stream), but I am also considering the PC version of Darkened Skye.  I don't know quite yet.

Games Thread will be later but I will try to have the schedule finalized before november/december so the marathon is somewhat ready before the immense AGDQ hype.

Good to hear re: the games thread.  I'll make sure to have my pitches ready well before then Smiley
My break is 2 weeks before that
Worthless categories WR master
Yeah I have learned that some people's break is not the first week of March... if the dates don't work out it could be further postponed to Easter break in April. I wish it can happen in March though.
I don't think my Spring Break will be during that week either, but I'm gonna be available on weekends and MAYBE at some point in the week.
my only concern is that its now pretty close to agdq.... which might steal alot of the hype and even donations. Keep up the good work though  Bis

Im from Nova Scotia and im definitely up for this. JC, TMR, Lepi, Primal, and PJ are all not canadian so I think im the only canadian battletoads runner. Id also love a chance to run yoshi's since im currently working on an any% run and march is tons of time to get ready for it. I could also run clash at demonhead. I'll hopefulyl be running it at AGDQ 2014.  Either way, i'll be there!

I would hope 2 full months is not too close, because at that point, with 2 marathons a year, SDA would almost have the monopoly.
Yeah.
Id totally love to come to this btw bis Smiley
Insanity Prelude
March might possess a bit of an issue with me, since its right around tax time and I work as an accountant. Post April is probably the best for me. Is the date finalized?
Learning to Stream
Whenever we hammer out a date next year, that means I can begin saving up to make this a reality.
I'll do my best to attend
There's a good chance I can go. I can run NightSky and [hopefully more games]
I finish my work term that week so definitely can go. I would run spyro 1 and crash 2/3.

theenglishman, I'm happy to pick up 2-3 people from some subway stop or other on the way for me, eg York Mills Station. Sort of waiting for firm dates before I go wacky with the planning, but I can toss the idea out there I suppose.

I'd be up for the carpool. If I can be picked up I'm almost 100% be able to go. I live in Brockville, Ontario. Any place that would be best to be picked up from?
Brockville is pretty small, area wise, and I'd be taking the 401 ofc so I think pretty well anywhere is fine. It is also fairly conveniently about halfway and probably would be a good place to stop anyway.

(the inzult carpool is now full :o)

That's great! What about the KFC near the 401?

If that is all fine and you can pick me up, also as long as I have a ride back (I would help pitch in money obviously) then I guess I'm going to CGDR! Smiley

I will be running Zelda: Twilight Princess, no save+quit
I just found out about this event through theenglishman. I'm not 100% sure I can go, but I live fairly close to Ottawa, so I probably could. I run primarily Metroid Prime and Spongebob Squarepants: Battle For Bikini Bottom. Sign me up, I guess Smiley

I am not sure if i can attend this but it looks really promising.
I would like to do a run of SSB64 in a marathon of unlock all characters, put me on the list of possible runners
Probably will be pretty good at Super Monkey Ball 2 Story Mode by then
