Boom
Hahaha Ill make that run happen (I hope)

It looks like KennyMan666 is running this game at ESA 2014 which is like 5 days from now. I am looking forward into seeing what he has been up too.

Here's how I would do area 12:

Edit:  Found a way to skip the second half of the crusher section in Albatross.  Making video.
Boom
Yeah I never once practiced this Area so I have not found any speed strats other than the skips.

I like what you did to move closer to the right while moving down the fist elevator and then the rocket launcher to remove the armor (Pro strats).  It is funny to see the iron boots kill that lil robot I wish the run had those for some areas. (not that one tho)

Also ty for showing me how to skip that elevator I was wondering how it would be done and i knew it required a wall to grab. (Which means no elevator skip for Albatross but I have an idea how to drop down from the side with a dmg boost but I doubt it will work)

New crusher room.  Skips doing the second half with a clever grapple.  I even missed it once, so you can see how quickly you can attempt this without losing much time.  Would save like 25 seconds if done on the first try.

Edit:  K, I think I'm done for real now.  I was unable to clip through the escape sequence elevator.  The one thing I'm wondering now is if the edges of the top platform (where you fight Master D) are bound by anything or if you can literally just run off them and fall all the way down.  That would certainly be interesting.

Edit2:  I just reread your latest post and realized you thought the same thing.  Hahaha.  Ignore me.  Tongue
Boom
That is so much fun to do! And there is a lot of room for error and you can still get it.

Just another wtf BCR moment I just finished a run at 29:34 live split time but a 22:24 min end of game in game timer.... which is my best in game time so far but worse run Iv had in a while...

Also I can do your elevator skip but not nearly that fast. Gonna take some time outa my day tomorrow to find the sweet spot.
Is PJ
Elevator clip is mad easy once you do it once.  You have to initiate with a crouch grapple and you have to hold down to move the elevator down, so it's just a matter of timing the grapple.  I do it once the floor of the elevator is flush with the bottom of the corner brick.  You also have to be right next to the wall.  Grapple onto the block and press it again to reel it in.  Then push nothing.  You'll pull yourself into the block.  Just do a neutral grapple once you've pulled yourself up and you should automatically begin the swing.  Then just wait until you're not underneath the elevator and break the line.  It's really really simple.

Well shit

Gonna watch these videos and then practice new tricks once I'm back at my X360. Hoping it'll make sub-hour 100% somewhat simpler (it already is, I just need to stop fucking up).
Boom
The fucking up may not even be your fault in this game.  Looking forward in seeing you at ESA KennyMan and thanks for your videoes they helped me alot when I started.  Also any idea what the WR is or are we just gonna make one? http://www.pbtracker.net/  we should have the game added to the list.
Precursor
WR probably was my 29:49 I didn't record, but that was of course before these new tricks and on X360 so longest loading times of the three versions. I'm unsure how many version differences there are anyway, given that the barrier skip was only ever done successfully on PC I wonder if there's anything else that's possible/not possible only on certain versions.
Is PJ
That barrier skip is such bullshit.  I hate that so much.

Watched some videos and huh. Constructor one-cycle being based on the last spike being in the right position seems kinda guh.

Well, trying shit out on Friday.

Yea that's more of matter of "if it's attacking from the left, may as well go for it".  BagtheTea mentioned that you can hit him from below with the proper grapple cancel and vertical regrab; I'm too bad at these mechanics to test that adequately, but if that works then my setup would be unnecessary.  The only thing the damage boost does is let me get far to the right earlier so I can latch on to the ceiling closer to the target and mash faster.  If you can point-blank him from below, I'd imagine you can do that from the left side, and therefore do it without the damage boost.

Updated run in later post***

Ahhh interesting.  Yea I'd suspect that a vertical grab would let you one-cycle him.  Very nice!
Boom
Hey PJ I must ask.

How do you shoot so dam fast?

How do you hold the controller or are you using keyboard?

Erm.  I just mash with my thumb by shaking my arm.  If you watch the spaceship stage of the AGDQ2013 or SGDQ2014 Battletoads & Double Dragon run, you can see.  It's nothing special though.  I mash the same way most other runners mash, except I use my thumb instead of some other finger.

Edit:  I use a controller, btw.  I can't mash at all on a keyboard.

Did I say Friday? I meant today.

So, PJ's crusher room skip tech, now officially known as the "PJ grapple", is also useful in at least two more spots in a 100%: POW Camp (Area 7) challenge room door and Furnace (Area 11) challenge room door. Found consistency for all three, the POW Camp one is extremely obvious and really, really easy.

Gotten all other skips, too. Going to try things in all stages and see if I can get a 100% with all the new stuff recorded tomorrow.

Edit: Things tried, some small things found. A 100% run will have four PJ grapples now. Need to get a little more consistent at the elevator thing though.

Edit again: So I said I'd record today but tbh that's very likely not happening because I'm exhausted. I need a shower and do some packing for ESA since I'm driving there tomorrow. I... guess I could bring my recording equipment as long as I get the video uploaded before the stream actually starts.

Okay yeah no no video until I'm home from ESA
Boom
Good luck at ESA Kenny!

Practice run yesterday went shit but had a much better one today. Fabricator one-cycle doesn't even require shooting it from below, and I think I'm starting to understand the elevator skip better now.

PJ grapples are still easy. Trucks are still dicks.

Oh wow on Kennys 100% run at ESA you managed to claw into the Fabricator bosses body (which is what I do with my trick to shoot him from below) with only a single vertical grab because your grab was there before the boss was able to be grabbed and when it became active to grab your claw was already in him. (Your claw was right in front of his face!)    I am going to find the timing and abuse this new trick!

Here is Kennymans 100% ESA run I hope you dont mind if I post.  To see what I am talking about check the video at 26:40

Also on Area 1 when you were going for the secret collectible (whatever they are called) I truly enjoyed how you managed to swing between bullets.

One more thing I gotta say you held your composure really well when your mic was going crazy at the start of the run.

I really enjoyed your run (trucks are dicks) there are a few things ill be using from your run to make mine a bit faster. So I must say Thank you!
Is PJ
Yea I've been able to grab inside the fabricator with just a single vertical grapple too, but wasn't sure why.  Your explanation makes sense!

The ESA run was pretty fun to watch.  You definitely need to look into the truck behavior because it seems like it behaves like the NES version.  If it is as consistent as it looks, you can simply find a route that dodges the trucks.  With 100% in this port, you have a TON of route flexibility so it should be pretty simple to make a route that avoids most of the trucks.  You got into like 8 truck encounters in that run (at like 25-30 seconds each), so you could literally shave entire minutes off if you looked into it more.
Precursor
Some day I'm going to sit down and note everything about the trucks. I know instant map movement (holding a direction when you exit an area) means you start moving before the trucks do, so delaying movement sometimes means manipulating a truck, and fast area entry - hitting the A button at the earliest possible moment it's possible, which is before the graphic on the screen telling you to appears - might make trucks stop moving slightly earlier. But yeah that run had two trucks that should literally not have been able to happen with the route I use. I have been able to slip through without running into a truck after getting the iron boots, so I'm reasonably sure it should be possible to get no trucks until after unlocking the tunnels (I'm convinced it's legitimately impossible to go from 19 to 8 without running into any trucks).

No trucks in any%... might be possible but I'm really not sure. My record, I think, is two.
Boom
Yeah my normal any% runs have only 2 trucks in them. And its like Kenny said you must be moving on the map asap after levels to make it possible. It looks like it gives you a .5 to 1 seconds of movement before they start moving.

I know if I skip trucks using the quit to main menu they will come back (respawn) if I use call for extraction.  I do not know why they were re spawning in Kennys 100% run but there may be a connection.
Is PJ
The trucks always respawn in the NES version after a short period of map movement.  They respawn exactly where you fought them and in the direction they were heading.  The NES trucks are also completely set in their paths; they all have a "loop" that they make.  For instance, the first truck always takes the 15->4->1->4->5->15.  I suspect that it functions the same in BCR.
Boom
Okay! Just finished my summer semester and now I have some time off to run this game.

I am aiming for sub 24 on any% and my best PB is 25:55 but there were some major slip ups. I have the video for my PB but I plan on nailing a way better run over the next few days.

I am setting up my stream for twitch if anyone is interested in watching. (I lack the hardware for a quality stream)
