Been playing this for about 2 weeks, Started practicing for a any% speed run on the 360 version today and this is the route and times I have so far.

Area 1 - 1:16 (Realized it's most likely better to not do this level)
Area 5 - 2:17
Area 15 - Grab green chip
Area 6 - Haven't done yet (Won't even do this level if I can get the glitch to work)
Area 3 - 1:03
Area 2 - 1:15 (Don't have to do this level any more)
Area 14 - Grab blue chip
Area 9 - 2:27
Area 17 - Grab yellow chip
Area 7 - 1:26
Area 18 - Grab Joe's machine gun
Area 10 - 1:50
Area 11 - 1:10
Area 12 - 2:34
Albatross - Haven't done yet

If your wondering why I go to area 2 it's to get the grenade upgrade so I can 1 pass the area 2 and 11 boss and for the shot gun so I can glitch through stuff in Albatross.

One thing I haven't worked on at all is finding the best way around the anti air vehicles on the map. If anyone already knows a no hit path (if thats even possible) let me know.

If enough people are interested I might put up some individual levels on filefront or something.

So who's interested in this?

Oh, definately interested. I actually wanted to start a thread on this yesterday, but since I only have the game for like 2 days now I felt it was too early, without me actually having anything to show off with.

I hope I can contribute towards this somehow. Tongue
I hope you can too :).

Here is a video of area's 1, 3, 5, and 9:

Let me know what you think.

EDIT: I just saw a glitch on youtube that can allow me to skip past the powerclaw box in area 3 so I won't have to do area 6. It was on the ps3 version though. I'll see if it works on the 360 later today.
Complete. Global. Saturation.

I'm not, so don't bother.
This thread needs moar sdkess.

I'll get this game whenever I get a points card from a certain somebody <_<
DS Dictator
Sweet this is the game I requested in the Speed runs request thread.
I'll be getting the XBOX360 from my Brother as he and his girlfriend are going around the world for a year.
I'm going to download this game as soon as I buy my Microsoft points.

Seeing your level 1 run looks very good to me.

Looks very good so far, there are some awesome ideas I didn't even think of yet (and it's much better than what I managed up to now <.<).
For Area 1, after the intel room, you swing to the right, over the gap in the middle, drop down and kill that guy before you go on. It IS possible to drop down the ledge above him and do the cliffhanger thing, completely avoiding that soldier, but more often than not I found myself bumping into him while hanging there.
Mind you, I'm not sure how much time it would save, if any, so you might not want to bother.

Something I noticed, you already had the body armor you get in Area... 11?, so you wouldn't have that in the earlier Areas yet and your test times would have been a bit longer normally (you'd even have died versus the Area 3 boss, you got hit buy your own rocket). Just pointing it out.

I'll try and look into it more later today, to look for improvements, but so far it's great.

Thanks and yeah that was my initial strategy for level 1 but like you said more often then not the guy I now kill was bumping into me. I realized something yesterday though, I don't even need to do area 1 :P, Not getting grenades and grenade upgrade has some cons like not being able to 1 pass area 2 and 11 bosses, and area 5 and 9 bosses will be a bit slower, but not doing area 1 more than makes up for it I think, plus the time it takes to actually grab the grenade upgrade. About the body armor I just wanted to practice levels in any order, I didn't want to start a new game and get to level 9 just so that I wouldn't have body armor :P. Oh and on area 3 it's not certain that I would have died, you have to be like as close as possible for your own rocket to take all your health but just assume that in the run I wouldn't make that mistake :P.
Yeah, you're right, I just did a few tests regarding the bosses with and without grenades, you should not lose much time at all, considering you've got some tighter gameplay going than me. Spending the 1:21 you had on Area 1 and the time it takes to get the upgrade really isn't worth it.

As for the shotgun. I'm a fan of it, to be honest, but is it really necessary? Are the glitches on Albatross significant/do they make up for the time spent getting the shotgun?

Another factor that should be worked on are those damned trucks. Does anyone know if there is a set pattern (has anyone studied them?), what way would be best to avoid them?

Oh, one more thing. You've got some mad button mashing skills. I think I'm far from being slow, but you're shooting bullets/tearing the screws out of the Area 5 boss about a million times faster than I am. I wish I could blame some sort of input delay for the PC version on it, I certainly wouldn't feel so pathetic Xp

Yes, it allows me to skip the poison and electrical rooms in the albatross plus some electric fields. I just had a great idea though, the glitch requires a weapon that can push you backwards, so im going to try it with joes machine gun which will take next to no time to get.

Thanks dude, and yeah im really not looking forward to working on the map part :P.

EDIT: Joe's machine gun works for the glitches in albatross too so i'll be skipping area 2 altogether now.
Alright got the area 3 glitch to work but it's very hard to pull off. Anyways since theres so many changes I'll update the route. I just got done testing this route and it all works out, with this route im thinking the game can be done in around 20 minutes.

I've done the area 3 glitch twice now, but it's like 1/100 chance for me. I asked the guy who found the glitch how it works and he said press hook then immediately up + hook, but i've done it without pressing up. Hopefully someone can find a consistant way of doing it.
Good luck with your speedrun Smiley

I keed.

I'd like to see the speedrun. It's a good game, but I find the control scheme to be very.....imprecisely awkward. In fact, the control scheme mirrors the grammatical structure of my last sentence. The game is good when it isn't frustrating. Ligar, I'll host your files for this speedrun. Message me and we can work out some kind of arrangement.

the glitch in Area 3 is incredibly difficult, unless i'm missing something. the two times i got it, it was just luck.

using your route, i encountered trucks at least 6 times. it might've been 7. and i was doing it on Easy, i'm not sure if they're more frequent on the higher difficulties.

i am really looking forward to this run. get to it!

Wow, I'd love a run of this.  [I used the original Bionic Commando speedrun to guide me through an area or two of Rearmed]

Any chance anyone would try a two-player run?

No one would be able to keep up with Liger Tongue
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I would recommend doing a 100% run after completing your "pure speed" run. Some of the items really come in handy. Also, the grenades you get in Area 1 are quite useful against the anti-air trucks.

it's a damn shame interest in the game has waned. i wonder if this'll spark anything.

GameFAQs lists a trick where you can become invulnerable by pressing the guide button, then pressing Back a fraction of a second right after. if done properly, when you press the guide button again, you'll be on the inventory screen, but everything in the game except Spencer continues to move. and Spencer is invincible.

using this trick lets you pass obstacles such as electricity barriers without being hurt, and would probably save a ton of time on the Albatross.

also, if anyone was looking for a good overworld route, this run runs into only two trucks. i don't know if entering all those unnecessary stages changes that, though.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
still SOOOOOOO looking forward to this.  i hope you're just lying low to surprise us bigtime, liger.  Cheesy

Yes, a ninja riding a tiger.
Heh figures you would go for something like this and do so well at it.  I'm really looking forward to a full run if you can pull it off, my man.
Satoryu: That new glitch makes me sad Sad being invincible for the whole run would be lame and much less skillful IMO. I already had a way to pass through the electric fields. Anyways if that's how it is and someone can be invincible for the whole run i'm not doing it. Or even just for 1 level per time you perform the glitch, still bugs me especially being done by use of the guide button. I won't be doing a run under those circumstances.
Visually Appealing
it's not permenant invincibility. you're invincible so long as you stay on the status screen. you obviously can't move while that screen is up, so this is only useful when you're already swinging off of something before you use the glitch.
Oh O-k, sounds like my way would be better then anyways. Since if i remember correctly you need to get Joe's machine gun, which is how i pass through electric fields.
Visually Appealing
not the ones in the Albatross with the blocks on the top and bottom. and how is taking the time to aquire an extra weapon better than not?
