Hmm. I borrowed SM64DS from my friend about two months ago and I'm already very good at it, and I'm sure I could speedrun it... the only problem is the recording
If I find a good solution, I'll do a run for sure. I have a good camera, but I need a (good) way to record sound.
Anyway, did you know that there is a glitch that allows you to complete the game with just 50 stars? It's very hard though (I've managed to do it only once out of 50+ tries...) so it's not possible in single-segment runs, too bad
There's also a glitch that can be used for skipping the first Bowser fight, and as the glitch is done at the very beginning of the game, it's possible to use it in single-segment runs.
I think that the fastest way of moving is long jumping, so it's a must for a speedrun. Also, make sure to use teleports (for example, you can complete BoB Star 2 in about 35 seconds with teleporting, and it takes at least 20-30 secs longer without them).
The glitch that allows you to climb steep hills can also be handy. It's very easy after some training. I almost never fail it.
I guess I may have some cables to connect the headphone port of my DS Lite to my camera. I guess I have to check.
