I suppose I'll need to watch it again and get an exact time, because that's probably off from what I timed while playing, but I am EXTREMELY happy with the result, whatever it turns out to exactly be.

I wonder... shall I tell now, or keep you all in suspense...?

Just as I thought, the run played back on tape is 7 seconds faster than when I did it for real. What are the ramifications of such a discovery? Huh?

Anyway, now how about doing a 16 star run, and maybe also the koopa the quick and princess' secret slide challenges on N64HS.

Me saying "old".

Yes... that's rather old information. It seems every VCR out there plays tapes back ever so slightly faster than they should. There's nothing much that can be done about it. Now you see why I drop seconds for runs > 3 hours and why I expect more than a few seconds improvement on long runs.

I thought the new way of doing it made it easier/more consistent, did you try that yet? It's also faster I think.

does anyone know what makes the stair glitch work or not. sometimes mario just long jumps backwards a couple times up the stairs, and sumtimes it works. Also, sumtimes he does the fast backwards long jump in like sets of two. anyone know what affects this??

Really? I recall my tape of the Zelda II New Game + Run (Which HAS NOT been forgotten about; I finally got around to backing it up and should hopefully be sending it out this week) played back seven seconds SLOWER than the time I got when I timed it live (Yeah, there's a bit of error involved in timing it live, but fourteen seconds worth [Since it should be seven seconds or so faster and was actually seven seconds slower]?!).

Hmm, interesting. Regardless, I'm very interested in this time myself.

well I couldn't tell you really, since I've never done the glitches; I don't play SM64 for records.
you can hit me up on AIM though, if you want; I can send you a video by Curtis, where he shows both glitches being done in about 15 seconds.

If you plan on going for the 16 star world record, in case you didn't know the time to beat is 20:10 (by Ilari), but he didn't submit the vid to SDA for some reason. If you want to see it, I think he has it in his get file (The Illu), or alternatively you can instant message me (mjf345) and I'll send it to you.

I know, I never said 20:10 is the time to beat if he wants his vid on SDA, I only said it's the time to beat if he's going for the WR. Even though Ilari's fastest vid isn't on SDA, it's still the WR.
