I tried for about an hour and a half the first segment (chaos 0 and emerald coast). My god i remembered being fast without mistakes was hard but this is insane. Seems like this run could take long to make, but i'll make it the best i can.

Individual Level runs = Speedrunning one stage to set a personal or world record.

Exactly. I'm not doing that Wink

I thought you were doing a single segment run so I thought I'd have some competition.

On what? on sonic, or on tails? If you meant tails i was saying single segment run. The tricks on tails aren't too hard to require a multi-segment run.

When I was reading through this, I saw some talk of rules regarding clipping through walls in this game. Is that still disallowed?
SEGA Junkie
This is a 2005 topic, the rules were very different back then. If you were going to do this run do it no-holds-barred.
Claimh Happy
Alright, i figured it was something like that. Glad to hear it.

For reference: The current run clocks in at 44:42 real time, starting when he selects "Game" on the character menu, and ending when the timer stops on Egg Viper. My current best is 52:23 with 2 resets in Ice Cap, a terrible Red Mountain, a death in Sky Deck, 3 deaths and a G'O in Lost World, 2 Deaths in Final Egg, and 3 G'Os and 9 deaths on Egg Viper. I'll let that settle in on its own >_>

How not to fight Egg Viper. A lot.

I was on pace for a pb, too >_>
Claimh Happy
Got a new pb. 45'38"55

No game audio because I forgot to change my stream settings. I'm getting close to the SDA time, but I need to get my shit together in Twinkle Park and Sky Deck. I also had unusual mistakes in Windy Valley and Speed Highway (my two best stages, usually). Lost World was weird (landed on all the lights, yet hit the mirrors almost instantly so it didn't cost much time). I'm still pretty shaky on this stage, but it went well this time. I need to figure out the boulder, because it hits you more often when you go really fast....and Egg Viper went down in one attempt today, rather than the 100th >_>
That was quite impressive, mapler. Smiley  Maybe you're not as consistent as F-Man yet, but you're a lot better at executing the tricks than I was when I played this game.  Definitely going to watch your progress on this.
Claimh Happy
Thanks yoshifan. F-Man is insanely good. I started this partially because I thought his run was outdated. After reading this topic, turns out he just wasn't allowed to use the huge skips. This might actually be the best 2006 record on the site. I'll say this right now: if I don't get sub 40:00, I haven't matched his level of play.

Also, it seems you shouldn't hit Knuckles (and presumably Gamma) on the first possible frame:

At least I think that's what caused this. By the way, I replaced previous links with youtube uploads, for easier viewing.
SEGA Junkie
Yeah, in all those fights you need to leave it a little bit, otherwise the hit counter doesn't go down. I don't know why...
Has anybody seen this video or glitch before?:

I haven't followed this topic too closely, but it looks like it could be useful.
Claimh Happy
Very fun glitch. Leads to Ancient Light early if you do it elsewhere. Not useful for a run, unfortunately, since doing Red Mountain early deadlocks your game. The only fight where it would save time to have Light Speed Attack where you wouldn't already have it is Chaos 0, and that simply isn't possible (it's also not that much of a time-saver. If anything it'd be done for consistency).

EDIT: not even close to submittible, I should add.

No video. I'll probably start recording attempts officially, now.

Question: Would "All Stories" be a valid run run category? Or does the game separate the stories too clearly for this to be its own thing?

For the run itself, credits aren't an issue since you can reset and it'll still acknowledge you beat the game (I tested using A+B+X+Start, not the button on the console. i'm not sure if there's a difference)
Claimh Happy
42:45 Sonic's Story in a race on SRL earlier. Need to iron some things out before recording attempts again.
Claimh Happy
Here's the video from my last post. Forgot about this Tongue

Just a FYI, i'll be joining the race for this record. I tried my hand at Sonic CD and gave up, but I am genuinely interested in pursing this one
Claimh Happy
I guess it's time I do real attempts instead of casual runs and IL practice.

Speaking of races, do you go on SRL at all? I'll race you any time.

If anyone could try the OoB jump and see if they can be consistent, i'd appreciate it. I havnt had much luck, but id love to keep tryin if anyone has more luck than me

New PB, 41:20. Still not that great, but I figured it's about time for an update so people know i'm still working on this.
I'm going to be doing a speedrun on Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast around Late 2017 or early 2018(as well as DX on GameCube) and I'll use the tricks I know from YouTube and from JustFlandre's Sonic run on YouTube(  Are the rules the same for the Dreamcast version as they are in the GameCube version(As well as the timing change from 2013)?
