The Speedrunning Teacher
Segment 44-A - Dive, Dive, Dive!
Segment 44-B - So Long, Midget (and Enrique)!
Segment 45-A - Assault on Cresent Isle
Segment 45-B - The Great Silver Maze
Segment 46 - Vigoro's Last Stand

Again, these were recorded live on the stream.  Plus, I miscounted the number of segments.  I somehow overlooked a three minute one before.  So there are only 6 segments left!

EDIT: Did it again. Tongue I hit post before I finished the links.  Should be fixed now.

The Speedrunning Teacher
I've got five more segments that are recorded and ready to be shown.  All that is left is to put them up on Youtube for you guys to enjoy...which I will do in the morning after work.

Which means that we are down to the final segment.  The grand finale of the game.  I plan on streaming the attempts tomorrow afternoon starting between 4 and 5 PM Mountain time.  I want to keep streaming until I get a proper recording.  So that Saturday morning, the run will be complete, I can get my comments written (and recorded), and get the game up for verfication soon.

EDIT: Took me longer than I thought, but here they are!  Plus, I'll be streaming in just a few minutes!

Segment 47-A - Wait, Didn't I Beat This Guy Already?
Segment 47-B - Vyse's Blue Rogue Armada
Segment 48-A - Minor Annoyances
Segment 48-B - One On One With The Hydra
Segment 49 - Hydra Interior
Segment 50-A - Galcian
Segment 50-B - Sacrifice
Segment 51 - Soltis
The Speedrunning Teacher
And now, the crown jewel of the run:

Segment 52-A - Ramirez
Segment 52-B - Zelos
Segment 52-C - Fate of the World
Segment 52-D - Legend of the Fallen Pirate

Watch and be amazed at the sheer amount of luck I had against Ramirez...both times I fought him!  Downside was missing my first two shots against Zelos, but considering that this clocked in at 42 minutes (4 minutes under my estimated time), I'll take it!

And now, the joys and fun of writing up the comments and attempting audio commentary while getting this submitted.  Let's see this on the front page soon!

Before I forget, here's the link to the Youtube playlist I made of the run: Skies of Arcadia Legends Speedrun Playlist

First off, (as I said last night) Congrats on reaching the end of the run... all that remains now is to send it in to verify and then get it published... congrats on a job well done... One thing I did Notice though, during the final fight, you did have that one ironic situation where Fina had petrified Vyse (Lunar Glyph, losing one turn of attacking) and then the next turn, you attempted to cast curia but because of the delta Shield, the curia was blocked, then you still casted Spirit Charge Regardless...  I would have imagined that in that situation you would have at least attacked with Drachma since you were at max SP... Still regardless of that one situation, the fight went down very smoothly...

Best of Luck in the verification once it is submitted...

yeah, that was a stupid move zyre... I guess the luck you got makes it irreplacable despite those mistakes.
Congrats on finishing such a big run!

doesn't the ending seem a little stupid? Ramirez lived in a fucking moon base until he went down and did a bunch of evil shit.

Yeah, I was nervous because of the luck.  It was going so well and then I make that noobish mistake.  Still, like you said, it went very smoothly and the chances of duplicating such luck...well, I'm still glad I went with it.
My name is unpronounceable
Damn it's good to have internet access again.  I haven't had internet for the past week, so I'm kinda out of the loop, but it's great to hear that the run is completed.  I have yet to watch the final...8 segments?:-\  Anyway, congrats for the completion.  I'm gonna let you know what I thought of them later, but if you want a guest commentator for some segments, I'm more than willing to help out.
The Speedrunning Teacher
So, I just came up with an awesome idea.

I have the great privilege of rewatching the entire run while I write up my comments (both written and audio) now.  By myself, it'll be good.  But what if I streamed the run as I was watching it?  Right now, I figure that I'll just talk with you guys in the chat during the stream, but if there is a demand for it, I'll add my voice to talk while rewatching this.  This way you guys can watch it again with others and I'll be able to work on the commentary.  What do you guys think?

Before I forget, I'll probably start either Tuesday or Wednesday and stream about 2-4 hours of the run at a time (maybe closer to 3-4 hours, but depends on the day).  I'll make it a consistent time everyday until the entire run has been streamed.
what's your run's total time? Using in-game timing up to the last segment, then manual timing, right?

Right.  The total time (cutting off the seconds) is 12h 10m.
Zyre u crazy. I have zero doubt this shit'll get accepted.

Thanks, bmn.  I'm sure that it'll get accepted as well.

I'm going to stream the segments today for about 3 hours while I write up the comments for them.  I'll be starting at about 3:30 PM Mountain time.

Guess what? Skies of Arcadia is on the verification list! So all those who want to verify a 12 hour run, hop to it!
lol well i havent owned the game in about 4 years and i dont know how involved a process verification is. It looks like you just do a small writeup and your opinion of the play quality, etc.. i dont know if im qualified

For most verfications, if you're familiar enough with the game to be able to check for any inconsistencies/signs of cheating/etc, then you're good enough to verify.  Some games even have verifiers who have only played the game through it once.  Otherwise, it is like you said: opinion of play quality, video/audio quality, and if you think that it lives up to SDA's standards.

At this time, though, you don't need to worry about being a verifier, mike has enough verifiers.
Whats the progress on this?
SDA Apprentice -- (3-1)
it was already accepted, slowing waiting for it to be added...  that summaries it in a nutshell Mr. Firered

Here is the verification thread for it.  As for where it stands in the queue for updating to the front page...I don't know.  All I do know is that the videos have been encoded and uploaded to SDA's server, so it should show up soon.
It means "energy", btw.
Congratulations on finally getting this published! I remember catching the stream when you were doing the final boss fights. (and then rewarding you with the screenshot you got your avatar from)

Yep. ^^

And now you can watch the entire run, with audio commentary, anytime you want!

Feels good.

Imma be watching this again to hear Zyre's voice. Wish me luck.

Edit: Seriously.
I recently started watching this - I didn't finish watching yet, but having played this game years ago I can say, up to now it's fairly awesome. And the commentary makes it absolutely awesome in my opinion, great voice for such things Smiley
100% runs=great to watch
Quite likes this run and the commentary----really knocked things out pretty spiffily.  All that would really make for an entertaining viewing of it otherwise would be a 100%ish run that still hurries along but that would surely be a huge and tricky undertaking more likely to happen in an LP format that doesn't hurry along.

Great job.

OK, imma remark on some possible route improvements (well, more like save locations) for whoever next looks at this, based on what you've said in the commentary Zyre. Some will be obvious, some less so. I only had this thought about the time you blow out of Valua, so I'll come back to the earlier stuff later.

Re the save point choices, I'm the kinda guy that likes to save after a big cutscene and before a tough battle - I like this way as it helps to reduce frustration from watching cutscenes or doing easy stuff at the start of a segment. My suggestions will reflect that, you might not feel the same.

Other stuff: I don't have a clue how much of a detour it'd be, but might seeing Doc earlier for the White Map save time in the long run? On top of the map, you'd have the Female Armor and Counter Bracer for your tough tank battle in Seg#30.

Seg#24: You should continue on and save at the time you mention in Seg#25, at the start of the Grapor meat mini-quest.

Seg#25: You mention saving between the wood and moonstone mini-quests. I think this would waste more time than it saves. If you save after the Grapor meat as you say (personally I'm iffy on that idea), then these will be at the start of a segment and you can optimise to your heart's content. If you're happy to save in the overworld to avoid a start-of-segment cutscene, save after leaving Nasrad so you can get right into some hot Aika/Fina flying action.

Seg#26: You micro-optimise this segment for Aika/Fina but not the practically identical Vyse/Gilder journey. If you're going to do that at all I'd say do them together and devote a segment to the more difficult Daccat's Island.

Seg#28: Depending on the difficulty of optimising the miniboss battle in Seg#29, you could extend this segment and save after that battle, shortening Seg#29.

Seg#30: Here of course you get rid of the moonfish, at the cost of 20 seconds each plus the time to collect the moonfish itself. You have a shortage of funds in Seg#31, so it may be worth getting another moonfish (you ignored one that would've only taken 5 seconds in Seg#27) for the 11th reward - 60 fish worth 4200G.

Seg#31: I don't think I need to tell you what you should be doing in this segment... More seriously, as the first 5 minutes or so of Seg#32 look really easy, you could do them in this segment, and save just after sleeping.

Seg#34: This is very much me trying to find a way to merge segments into two (blame MGS2, it makes me want to minimise segmenting >_>), but the Anguila ship battle looks like a comfortable one. You do 50k guaranteed from MSC shots, which leaves 5k to get with normal shots. Except they do about 4.5k each, and you fire four of them. Could be merged into Seg#33?

Great job.

Thanks. If you're looking for a 100%ish run, might I suggest looking at this guy's videos? He goes through and pretty much collects/defeats/does everything possible in the game.  But yeah, it would take quite a bit of time to do so.

Go for it.  I'm not sure if I'll be the one to come back to this game and improve on it, so any ideas/suggestions you have for improvements is good to jot down and post here (and I know that there is a fair amount of them, except for that one choice in segment 31...that one is perfect).
