Why exactly are we buying the anchor?
I'm impressed with how much info we have on this game already. I've never speed run a game (except for a once-off FF7 "speed" run for charity - ended up being, oh....3 hours shy of WR at the time o_O) and I've been hyped as heck for this game for a long time coming. Now that it's out, I'm having so much fun with it I've decided to make it the first game I will run (any%). I haven't discovered much on my own that hasn't already either been listed here or been debunked.

One thing I can say that I see missing from a lot of the videos is Jumping to start with full momentum. As someone mentioned in the thread previously, there is a short period of acceleration when SK starts running. Jumping skips this and immediately starts SK out at top speed. This is most prominent at the very beginning of a stage, after climbing a ladder, or after being forced to swing your shovel while standing on the ground. Remember to jump wherever possible after all of these occasions.

Currently learning Specter Knight's stage. I have a few tips that I haven't seen utilized yet, but unfortunately can't record at the moment. Therefore, screenshots.

General tip is to be a bit more liberal with your Flare Wand ]in Specter Knight's stage. There are a ton of mana pots laying around.

This guy can be shoved out of your way by a single hit of the Flare Wand. Give him a tap as soon as the platform lowers enough and he'll politely step out of the way, no need to kill him.

The frog here, as well as most frogs in this level, can be killed with a shovel swing immediately followed by a flare. The skeleton following him is best deal with by moving close enough for him to swing, then pogoing him. He'll move with the pogo allowing you to kill him without sacrificing any mobility, and since pogoing keeps you off the ground, the platform will be higher at the end of this sprint.

This room here. The first frog will jump either toward or away. If he jumps toward, you can jump to meet him midair and kill him with a shovel+flare combo before you hit the ground. If he jumps away, dealing with him is messier. The important thing in this room though is the Skull. You can get it out of the pit with good timing by jumping in and landing to the right side, hitting it, then quickly jumping and hitting it again at the peak of its trajectory. It's a little precise but not super hard. However, the frog in the middle is forever an incorrigible asshole.

If anyone found these tips helpful (they're mostly optimization), let me know and I'll make with more as I find 'em.

One question: for the checkpoints we're breaking, do we only bother with the large gem in the center, or do we stick around for a second to collect all of the extra gems that fly out?

It helps speed up the Propeller Knight fight and might potentially be useful for Enchantress 1, although I found propeller spam to be a better use of magic. IDK if that's enough.

I don't think that the knuckles are that useful though. I'm not sure how much time it saves in the game and you can still get a quick kill on Enchantress 2 with the Propeller Dagger (a little slower though takes at least 1 more cycle where she picks up a platform. IDK I know that we definitely need Flare Wand and Propeller dagger, but everything else might not be necessary. Health drops are pretty generous and are placed in easy to reach places, so I'm not sure that those are necessary since we get 3 from the game normally plus the base 4 we start out with. Magic seems more useful since that means more uses of the propeller dagger when we get it. I also like the magic armor since it gives 50 magic by itself. Not sure if there's any sweeter starts with the mobile armor that makes it more better though. IMO I think that we need Flare Wand, Dagger, Magic Armor, and Magic upgrades, although that setup makes taking damage for skips even more risky since it's just base health and each hit deals a half point more damage.
I need to test the anchor and the amount of time the knuckles actually save but I thought we all agreed that the gears were a must for the autoscroller and the phase1 bossfight skip
check your pantry
Jeez 11 pages already. You all are doing WORK like wow.
Dust Knuckles still need to messed of course since the game is still new, but I still find using them during Enchantress Phase 2 is way quicker than Propeller Knife spam.  Dust Knuckles will keep you in the air while the Knife you get a few hits on and fall down, making you wait until you are able to strike again.

(another dust knuckle video was posted earlier , understand my a bit sloppy but still shows dust knuckles can recover quicker than propeller knife)

Is there a place for me to download the splits icons to use in LiveSplits or do I have to make them myself?

EDIT: Nvm the ones I made look better than I thought on video. Anyway thanks for the suggestions! OBS and LiveSplits are amazing tools.
I made a list of skips, tricks etc. on google docs. It can be edited by anybody, so feel free to go nuts. I've only put there what I remember from the top of my head, which isn't much, since this game's stuff is moving so fast haha.
If there's video of any of these, feel free to add them as well.

Faster Enchantress 2 quick kill. It could've been 25 or so seconds but I'm bad and its late.

edit: lol outdated, dust gloves too stronk

FYI dust knuckles are barely faster than dagger if you do it right. I screwed up but it could've been a 26 second fight

I'm going wild!
It should also be considered when using real time that the monitor refresh rate can make the game run faster (120Hz makes the game reeaally fast..)

Are you positive about this?

we could just make it so you can't use 120HZ refresh rate (you can change the refresh rate on those monitors right?)

Edit: It'd be pretty easy to see if someone IS using 120....
Relax

This is why all runs should be capped to 60.

@the Specter quick kill:
It works for one cycle guaranteed, but then Specter usually teleports somewhere differently. You just got lucky or something. I've done it the exact same way with different results.

The devs are planning to fix this issue soon so maybe it'll be ok after that
I'm positive about that, saw people mentioning it so I tried it myself, and it was faster
You CAN use 60Hz with a 120Hz monitor, but while it is true that the difference between 120Hz and 60Hz is easy to see, it's not that easy between 70Hz and 60Hz...

you could just put your 60Hz run next to the 70Hz run. Easy to tell imo
I've updated the googledoc with everything I remember and linked all the useful videos I found in this thread. I'm uploading some videos myself.

I suggest checking it out since it might become a great tool. Is anyone willing to write down the any% route? The most important things are when to go back to the village, if to go to the airship at all (the charge attack seems kinda good tho) and how much mana/hp to buy.

atm we're buying the mana armor instead of mana upgrades. It gives 50 mana + increased mana drops and is cheaper than the 50 mana from upgrades
nice job savez, this will prove handy

Relax
Is that really optimal? You can upgrade all the mana you need as you upgrade health. Going to the armor shop takes longer. Also doesn't it make you take more damage or something? Description says something along the lines of "sacrifice armor"

its cheaper and it makes mana drop from practically every enemy which'll let us spam more propellor blade on levels in area 3 and the tower. we're also grabbing charge slash now anyways so we might as well get both

edit: charge slash wrecks propellor knight and the refights as well as enchantress 1

I found this skip almost by chance. I think it's faster and WAY easier than damage boosting after pogoing on the first beetle since you kill the mage with no effort
Wow guys, the info is just pouring in so damn fast, I doubt I'll find anything of use when it's all said and done!  lol great job guys.
.

this is pretty much my route for relicless explodatorium

Some things to note:
the global timer for barrels starts the room before them
I spaghettied hard on the second barrel room
you can stand behind the mad scientist miniboss to get easy hits in
fuck the bird things at @2:13
at 2:38 you can kill the slime knight with the block if you time it right
at 2:55 you can pogo off the falling smile knight to get to the high ground faster and knock off the bomb guy (but i messed it up lmao)
