So...I finished the German translation for FAQs, Submissions and Rules...

Only question I have now is:
How should I contact Mike?
Here on the forums via PM?
Or via E-Mail?
Or via instant messenger?
Or just shouting out very loud?

(It's crazy that I can figure out brutal puzzles in games but when I have to choose from only three choices I get extremely confused)

Sorry, you missed the concept. encoding in UTF-8 means that the page characters are all coded in UTF-8 style. I haven’t checked, what SDA uses so far, but I assume it uses ISO 8859-1. (Having checked: my guess was correct.) It basically means, that the Japanese writers can put in their characters (i.e. Japanese kanji or kana) plain-text, without having to code them as you usually would in HTML (i.e. &#some-kind-of-number;). If your interested in more information about character encodings UTF-8 and such, contact me using the e-mail address in this link. (Hand-written in a picture, so I don’t need to worry about spam bots.)

I've missed a lot of concepts lately... <<; So I can write basically my text how I want, and UTF-8 encoding would handle that the characters are displayed correctly?

Alright.

re: 65 Yeah, it's mainly a caution for those who might use shift-JIS for japanese, because shift-JIS is crap.

I did't know that myself either at first, the "qualifications" part haves point A, B, C and D.

I just made a first draft on the submissions page, I will be adding few touches here and there later...

Surprisingly I only have one word that I had to omit, because I simply don't know what it means: Cocky

Sounds funny though.
Precursor
Toss me in for Swedish translationage.

A5, B5, C3 (for a median value. It depends a TON on what system we're talking) and D4, I guess...
cocky = overconfident. like you win one time so you think that means you will win every time.

May I suggest that all translation work that requires non-latin characters be encoded as UTF-8?

SDA already serves utf-8 (besides the forums) so that part is obvious. And I didn't feel the need to mention it since it is trivial to convert from shift-jis or big5 or isowhatever to utf-8. That's like one extra second of work. Responding to this post was more work. Sad

A quick searching produced this result. Is this correct?

You don't have to do anything special with utf-8, your text editor just has to support it (and it probably does if you are dealing with non iso-latin languages).

Ya hice la parte de submission, pero hay algunas partes que no me convencen del todo, si te parece bien nos repartimos el trabajo, pero si tienes problemas de tiempo lo puedo hacer yo Wink

I thought it was waaay smaller then realized its huge, whatever I finished, but keep eye for typos and whatnot I only glanced once and without a spell checker.

Ok, thanks to gia for pointing out that the "How do I record my run?" section in the FAQ was a bit outdated. I rewrote it. If someone tried translating it before now, you'll probably have to redo that section, sorry. Sad

Alright I think it's time to stop right here and make a new thread about this, it's good to know there is more people involved, that means the level of accuracy will increase etc.

Gia, I'm surprised about your way of translating things, almost literal... I tried that a few times and it was so much work for me... I find reading the text and then take the core idea with my own words much more easy and fast (unless that's what you are doing :D) for that matter.

I'll be making a new thread and posting the submission page I made, soon Wink

Hello. I could translate the required pages into Finnish.

A5 - B4 - C3 - D4

I didn't understand this correctly.

A5
B5
C4 I guess, as one can not know everything about VG
D5 Always have been there and always will be!

So, for the French translation, I'll do it this week, probably will have finished it by Wednesday Wink
For Finnish translation:
A5
B5
C3 (For specific samples, such as the Zelda series, I do not have any experience, or some other major series. I have learned what the specific two glitches mentioned mean, though. Also, the game names and such are rarely translated to Finnish, so from translation perspective, there is no problem.)
D5

In case there are already any Finnish translators at work, some coordination might be necessary to avoid unnecessary work. I translated ~half of the rules, but some of them might have been changed after that, so I have to check it.

Check this thread. Everything has already been translated, I'm currently incorporating text into the html code. But if you notice any mistake, feel free to point them out. Smiley

Once you have recorded your run to disc, you must finalize the disc so that computers can read it.

Can someone explain what does "finalizing a disc" consist in? I've never used a DVD recorder.

Hail Discordia!
Making it so that further writing to it is impossible. It's the usual process for most of such writing purposes, and is usually enabled by default in the software. It's just one of the ticks in compilation burning properties.
Thanks. Just need to figure out the appropriate translation now...
