Glitching EB 1 flying man at a time
Mickey_Mage - 40:47 - All

That damn last boss cost me the most deaths... Hopefully I can lower this, as the game doesn't get really hard until the last 2 or 3 levels.

Edit: Actually, you said timing stops as soon as the last cutscene starts, right? I know you can move around a little after you defeat a boss, so my time in general would only increase as many seconds from the last hit of the final boss, to the beginning of the cutscene, I guess.

Yeah, you do lose control before the cutscene starts, but it is after the last hit.  It seems to be about when the boss is done blowing up or just before the victory fanfare starts.  That's when timing should stop.  Game week post will be edited to this effect.

Ok, this one is official. I gave it this time since this is about when I heard the victory music after beating the last boss.

All joking aside this game is fucking brutal. The invincibility time is about as short as Tiki's penis. (OH SNAP.)

Ok, this will probably be my last submission, especially since I'll be out of town tomorrow, and will only have Sunday left to work on it anyway. Plus, I need to get back to my own speedruns. :p

I agree... these tournament weeks are definitely eating into my running time.  Of course, I don't have much time to do either this week.

Updated.

Breakdown - 23:33 - ALL

First one life clear for me.  Had a couple ugly patches, pretty sure this can come down a couple minutes.  I have a replay, but I hope to improve this before the week is out.

Wow, very nice time Shocked
My time was also with only one death, but I guess I need better boss strategies...

Thats very nice considering that the TAS did it in 17:33 , slightly different timing of course but it's not that much of a deal. There is a small glitch in level 6 which lets warp to the next section faster. I can't imagine <20 mins is possible.

EDIT: Didn't take into consideration that most people will be playing on easy or normal. There is no stipulation within the rules.
Glitching EB 1 flying man at a time
On easy the bosses (and mini-bosses) have the least amount of health. It seems to me that normal it's slightly more, which makes those battles a little longer I noticed while going through it that way, too.

Aw crap.

I did indeed forget to specify, intended for people to be playing on normal difficulty.  So, that said, any and all times submitted from this post on need to be played on normal (or hard if you really want to, just not easy).  If any of the times submitted to this point were played on easy, I'll let them stand, but if you post a new time it'll have to be done on normal.

Should've been clearer, my fault guys.

Pretty good run, though there still were a few rough patches.  I'm not done yet, but this one I'll definitely put up on youtube if it stands as my best time.

But the new time isn't the reason for double posting.  Told my girlfriend about how my plan to allow any easy times posted as of my last post and she seems to think that's grossly unfair, so I'm going to see what you guys think.  Should I disallow easy times?  Should I let people play on easy for the rest of the week?  Trying to come up with the fairest all around solution here.

Of course there is no problem if no one's been playing on easy.  The only person that's really at all hinted at it is Mickey_Mage, and since he's says he's going out of town it doesn't really seem fair to throw out his time if he won't really have a chance to improve it (assuming he did play on easy [if you didn't please post to the effect!]).  So basically just asking that if anyone has an objection to my initial proposal please let me know.

Presumably Normal is default. If that's the case then it's really a non-issue, cause of the whole "spirit of the rules" thing. I didn't even know there was an easy mode. >_>
Waiting hurts my soul...
I didn't touch the options, I figured since you didn't say anything I just went with default settings.  I'm pretty sure you said we were using defaults unless you said otherwise.

The time can go a lot lower than that, but I don't think I'll try to improve this one
dannnnn - 33:05 - ALL

Just so you know, my earlier times were on Normal difficulty. I keep settings as default unless otherwise stated.

Seriously, what? I hate you all >_>
Glitching EB 1 flying man at a time
Well, all I've really noticed when changing difficulties is the same as with my Joe and Mac speedrun; difficulties seem to only change boss health (and some enemies, but it's not as noticeable), which can make the fights longer. Levels are the exact same, otherwise.

Wtf, that time is actually possible on normal for a human? So, you're one of those people that can hit the button faster than the autofire then, right?
fucking .gif....
I want to see a recording if possible.

I'm trying to record myself getting through in 1 life, but the final boss just kicked my ass and ruined my run.  he has a lot of health.  I forgot if I needed 5 or 6 magics on him.
dannnnn - 31:11 - ALL

One death this time on the auto-scrolling stage Cry

Shadow_Jacky, what weapon are you using against the final boss? I find the most effective weapon on him to be the blue one that fires straight ahead, it's awesome at full power. Then again, I don't use the rapid fire technique, I just hold the button down.

You only really need the two bombs you pick up after the flame thing dies. Try using them to cancel out the final boss's first two laser attacks so that you keep your LV.3 weaponry for as long as possible, then you should be able to outlast him if you still have most of your health left at this point. His laser attacks aren't that hard to dodge most of the time anyway, the odd one might get you and his double attack can be a pain but with 8 bars of health you should be okay.

Also, don't forget to switch to your homing weapon when he tries to suck you in (if you run to the farthest corner like me, that is).

Oh, and what are you using to record? I couldn't find a Mega Drive/Genesis emulator with a record function.
the latest version of Kega Fusion has a recording option.
fucking .gif....
^^^ :O

also Dannnnn, I use those now and can take him out fast with 5 magics lol.

stage 6 is now kicking my ass before I even get to the boss.

SHADOW JACKY - 31:51 - ALL

I'm doing another run WITHOUT deaths this time.
Exoray
This one was completely unplayable with my keyboard (can't move diagonally and shoot at the same time) and the gamepad is out-of-order atm. I'll have to pass this round.
