Like I said before, this can take a little while to complete Smiley

You guys probably want to start attempting the Single-Segment runs isn't it? So maybe it's better if I just write down the tricks so you guys can start attempting.

Well it doesn`t matter for me too but I want to know are this tricks so imortant for us and are they go to help us with the runs?Anyway don`t hurry for us I can continue playing and getting better on the game and maybe I can find some other tricks! Wink

Right now I'm not sure about tricks that you guys don't know yet and are really timesavers. I guess most of them would be some tiny optimised ways of doing something Wink

Hmm, I just had an idea. I think I'll capture a Single-Segment run that'll show all the stuff. But I actually haven't even played the game through on Hard yet... Grin

I'll just capture a video on Easy, wouldn't matter all too much.

hey everybody.

I would like to help out so I uploaded what i think is the fastest way through the storage:

I just use the box jump trick to get on the shelf then the same method to get on top of the box hanging on the chain and then just a jump to the door.

I don´t know if you already know, or had planned to do it this way (if it is the fastest) but now you know.

At to thevoid: you had seeking problems with my 1080p penumbra tech demo test, so this is just recorded in home theater setting.

Heh, in this video I see some strange colorful stripes (Except when I open the video in VirtualDub...) which I've seen in other videos with DivX before (Cortez's AoE3 videos come to mind, but those were fixed, I think). That didn't happen with your other video from Penumbra: Tech Demo Wink

Anyway, the Gas Mask is skipped and thus that whole room is skipped Wink

There's a better way to get through that room though.
Crouch and deactivate the first beams (Plus/minus box on the right side of the beams), then crouchjump under the big crate. You won't trigger the death trigger if done correctly (It's not difficult but sometimes the crouchjumping doesn't cooperate). And then crouch and deactivate the second beams (Plus/minus box again on the right side of the beams. When you've grabbed the Gas Mask, you can crouchjump back under the big crate again and leave the room.

But I thought that you had to use the gas mask to fix the gas leak in front of the chemical storage?
and the gas inside the machine doesn´t kill you?

This can be done without the Gas Mask. Throw something against the pipe from outside of the gas area, then grab the pipe and put it there quickly.

You mean the room where you need to trap the enemy in the computer control area? I think there's something strange in that room. If you enter it before the enemy chases you, then you get damaged by the gas. If the enemy chases you, then you won't be damaged from the gas Smiley

I just played through the game on Easy and I didn't get hit when the enemy was chasing me. I don't know about Hard though.

Ok I just checked. So the gas inside the machine room (the room where you eventualy fight the big worm) doesn´t hurt you.
On easy you can just run through the gas infront of the machine room, but on hard you need the painkillers.

Ok now that should be settled.

If you record from the main menu and select New Game, Fraps will stop after you skipped the text. Fraps will also stop when you click on the door to go to the complex (The halls which also lead to the Gas Mask room) after you've seen the Amabel Swanson live feed thingy. I don't know about later places where Fraps cuts off yet.

I guess a different recording program is needed to capture this game fully... Undecided

I did get an Easy single-segment time (With a couple of bigger mistakes) of 0:29:55 (This also included me getting the Gas Mask since I just wanted to show how to do that room in case it would be useful or whatever :)).

I checked your earlier posts in this thread and you didn't mention it Wink

And you also said you tried HyperCam but it gave you lags. So I guess GameCam is the only option then, someone wants to check GameCam?)

I've checked the whole game now and there are 4 points where Fraps stops.

1. When the first level starts.
2. After the room where you get to see Amabel Swanson's first live feed video (The room directly after the sewer part).
3. After the outside snowy part.
4. When you've entered the room where you need to destroy and then fix the pipe.

I also tried recording the game with Camtasia, but that didn't really work very well...
So I guess either HyperCam or GameCam or something needs to be used Undecided

I use ZD soft game recorder and it´s just perfect (if you want to pay for it), it can´t record full screen maybe because my full screen is 1440x940, but in 1/4 screen it´s
perfect.

I finally recorded part 1. Funny thing is that Fraps did NOT cut off after the loading screen when I started a new game this time, which is strange. I'm not sure what causes it (Or not causes it...). I shall record the second part now.
