Beat the game and re-checked this thread to find that everything i found has already been posted with even more tricks to use. I guess it's time to start practicing!

im trying to do the Forlorn Skip and im getting close but im wondering how you manage to stay on the spikes without getting knocked away  during the damage boost?

edit: ok, after 2 hours and 300 deaths i got it. the trick is to try to aim inside the circle of spikes

I just launched the game and it auto-updated. Glad I made a backup. Does anyone know what was patched?

Edit: I'm dropping frames like mad now, expecting another patch soon.
I found a small puzzle skip in Mount Horu , very easy trick.

thats an awsome trick mils. any of the ball kicking puzzles are a pain.
Wiggle wiggle
Anyone streaming thus far? Would love to see some of you skilled players romping through the game and not dying left and right. (or perhaps dying left and right. Dying is fun! Meat Boy told me so.)
i might be tomarrow. i want to get some recordings done for some skips that dont have them yet and twitch highlights are probably the best way for me to do it
I just had a thought whilst playing and looking for the specific pixels to do the save skip for cutscenes. KOKO said he can get in touch with devs about concerns for speedrunners and i wondered if they could make a cutscene skip command (like most other games have). I'm not sure how much pull we have for things like that, but it would be worth a shot.

Learnin to go fast.

Important about this one is that it skips a fragment door. I now have 4 spare fragments. I wonder where those could be useful?

I'm trying to get a frog to smash open the rocks that block the wind flow, so far no luck.

Neat thing I noticed that might help with this is that you can dash off of projectiles twice. I haven't had the time to test this idea (just reading the forum after not looking for a few days) but try dashing the frogs projectile, then dash back towards it off of the frog and dash a second time off of his projectile to smash the rocks. Should be possible I've done stuff like that in my casual playthrough. For example in that room with the redirect rocks and the flower that shoots a projectile, I would jump over the spike pit, dash of the projectile down into the spikes so it went straight up, jump back up to the lamps dash twice to get ahead of the bolt and redirected it towards the rock wall.

EDIT: Didn't see Mirelle's video on page 3 :p

All cutscenes that can be skipped have the skip button in the menu. Others have their own reasons for not being skippable and probably won't change sadly.

Just so you know just a few months ago no cutscenes were skippable at all and there was also a bug right after the owl baby murder scene that sent me back to before the cutscene and I had to watch it all about 4 times in a row >.<

I'm trying to get patch notes. Will get back to you once I have anything.

Edit: there was no patch since release. The_Deku_Nut - you sure?

Steam downloaded something for it, just a few kb. It's probably just steam related/validations if no one else got it. My bad.

Edit: Grammar

The frog projectiles act very weird with Dash. It seems like they can only be dashed as far as their existing momentum would allow them to travel. Just dashing them upward would soon make them not move anywhere, and then drop into you.

Oh, and Vulajin made a good point. Save glitch makes IGT unreliable. RTA timing is going to be required.
The Frog projectiles have mass, so they act with physics and have arches. Most other projectiles don't, so they continue onwards forever.

Two tricks in Mount Horu dungeons. There are more that I didn't record for some reason, I guess I thought they were pretty darn obvious, these slightly less:

Hey guys,

Wanted to add something to the thread, even though I'm not sure I will run the game.

http://www.twitch.tv/sekafirst/c/6318345
Found this by accident when doing my second playthrough. Skips the platform "puzzle" so it should save some seconds here. Triple jump and damage boost are not required.

http://www.twitch.tv/sekafirst/c/6318389
This one could be usefull in a 100% run.

I hope I can add more interesting stuff later.
And sorry for low quality, my pc can't handle nicely the game and obs at the same time...

Edit : Just manage to break the stone that lead to Mont Horu without the dash, by bumping the exploding ennemy with charge flame just a bit so he can roll into it instead of falling. Obviously, can't do anything further because of burning ground.

I hope my terrible framerate and quality are still watchable.
This showcases two things. Firstly, the save glitch for the Gumo cutscene that every route should do. Secondly, if you're not doing Iceless, there are two more save glitches that save a bunch of time. If people want to look into how much time Iceless saves, take those two skips into consideration. The visual cues are pretty obvious, thankfully.

And here's the visual cue for the Kuro cutscene: http://i.imgur.com/XxqSyoL.jpg
Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. I've been watching Speed Runs for ages but never really ran myself (apart from setting a lot of top times on Trials series).

http://i.imgur.com/5SmM2bJ.png - You can do deathless runs by using multiple save files and rewriting. It's pretty lame honestly but I used that for the achievement. I'm still not quite sure how people have gotten sub 1:30h times even with this method though. You can get under 2h pretty easy I just wanted to get some Life Cells to make it less annoying. So you cant really rely on IGT and need to use local recordings. Where are you guys starting/stopping the timer?

Onin you should try OBS, it's very lightweight for local recording. Try these settings: http://imgur.com/a/n3pwa.
That right there was recorded with OBS on 800x600 resolution. That's how badly it runs on my system. The gameplay isn't nearly as bad, but recording is just not gonna happen.

I think the main thing we're trying to do here is RT single segment runs. IGT with no deaths isn't really interesting as you basically have infinite tries and it just takes time and is annoying messing with the save files.

Onin your computer issues are shitty as usual, get a damn new comp already damn you.

Here's a cute little easter egg that has nothing to do with running:

Did some more research into Horu's cutscenes. Turns out most of them don't softlock, but also don't save any time at all.
Also turns out you can in fact save glitch the bottom left cutscene. And stop the lava from lowering. Which will softlock the game. Woo! So the conclusion stays the same: Only save glitch the bottom right cutscene.

Also, it's possible to get enough experience for 2 attack upgrades, magnet, and triple jump, without additional farming by picking up basically every single experience and ability orb on the route. I'm not sure if skipping Magnet would be worth it, it kinda pays for itself, and the two attack upgrades are pretty valuable as well. Either way, be aware of where the experience pickups are, some require a bit of detouring. In the end it's all worth it.

Hey everyone

Happy to see so much activity for this game already. I'm hoping to get into running it myself, so I've been familiarizing myself with the run using Onin's route as a base. Haven't succesfully gotten Iceless yet, but I did finally get a decent feel for the Sorrow Dash after a long time and a lot of death. I also ran into some neat little optimizations and backups for strats already posted:

For the end of Misty Woods if you don't have the health to do the damage boost, with a similar bash off the frog you can make it to the hidden area in the platform to the right instead, which then allows you to climb up further and safely glide to where the damage boost would take you. Slightly slower of course, but still saves a good chunk.

Also with the strat in the right corruption room in the Ginso Tree you can shoot the projectile straight into the final redirector, avoiding the need to redirect it again with bash. Even if you do end up having to redirect it with bash, making use of the redirector looks a bit faster (and the redirector is very forgiving with where you aim the projectile). Nothing major, but every bit helps.
By misty forest you should already have all the save point upgrades, so you can heal from 1 to 5 using just one energy orb. You should basically never be low on life anymore at that point.
In your route you said, do the first 6 rooms in mount horu, isnt there 8 rooms you're meant to do to get through?
Everyone listen closely. The devs have found the Sorrow's Pass skip and are looking into it.

I have made the obvious case that they should not fix it, but I don't have a definite answer.

I've asked to be notified of the full patch notes before they do anything, and I will probably get them before a patch comes out.

Just in case, I suggest everyone back up the release and set steam to not update Ori. I'm very positive that they understood fixing this is not ok and probably won't, but the final decision sadly isn't mine.

On the upside - they might even decide to leave it in and cater to it, making the game less broken if such a skip occurs, which is actually pretty nice. I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything.
Anyone have a full run streamed of the optimal glitched run? Would probably solve a lot of the questions about skips and glitches.
Quote from Lappy:

You do the first 6 rooms as normal, you save glitch the 7th room (bottom right), you do the 8th room as normal, and then you go down to the miniboss and the final area.
